That's awesome! I got my kid into hockey at 5yo, and now he's almost 10 and can skate so fast and effortlessly...he still plays hockey, but he's not really concerned with trying to being the next Connor McDavid, he just has fun ;) I'm just glad that he's gotten to the point where he will likely never forget how to skate, so it was well worth it :)
still better than me who can't skate 😉👍🏻and had their counselor at camp hold on to me the whole time I was on the ice back in 2010, in front of my whole camp and 2 friends in my neighborhood lol 😏
That’s a lucky dude right there, I wish my parents would have exposed me more to the ice as a kid, I started playing freshman year of HS, had to basically learn how to skate with one lesson of skating, figured it out and wasn’t bad, but I wish I started earlier.
@@dabirby2305 I’m mean I grew to be a decent player after my first year over playing summer and winter league, but then again when your 6’2 as a freshman it helps
With a coach like you who wouldn’t! Lost all social media, but its Jamal from winning techniques, hope all is well Jeremy, I have become a full time coach because of your help!
I play hockey. One tip to get faster and be stable is to keep his knees bent like he is sitting in a chair and have tight skates and do one ankle squats and that will boost his ankle strength and will make his ankle not hurt as bad. No hate just trying to help out.
Ha! That's cool to learn ice skating at such a young age.. but to be honest I'm more impressed with the girl making googly eyes and funny faces all the while skating backwards.. I did infact try ice skating once when I was homeless in St Paul/Minneapolis, the skates were 3 sizes to big so when I finally got on the ice my ankles kind of imploded toward each other and no matter how tight the laces were I couldn't stand up because his skates were so loose on my feet. I did however manage to make it across the pond with the help of ski sticks (sorry I'm not sure what the are called but they are sticks with sharp ends that cross country skiers use). Even tho the skates were to big and I fell a thousand times and every bone in my body screamed out in pain I had an absolute blast..
I started playing hockey at 9 and ganna be 12 soon but I had lots of times because I'm a girl I've wanted to quit so many times and think that evryone would hate me. Now I feel confident and not the best but almost one of them so now go get out their kid and keep on doing what your doing. If u feel like it's too hard or u can't do it just go for it and if it fails do it again.
I love how that little girl is sticking her tongue out at him because he can’t skate fast or backwards, yet she herself is struggling to skate backwards and almost tripped 😹
This apples for all ages I was 11 and not a clue on how to skate. Now I’m well in play in house league and can skate fairly well. Remember no sport doesn’t have a limit of age to learn.
@Ian Sjogren they stuck their tongue out at him tho and did that thing with their fingers so it’s most likely that they are making fun of him, I’ve seen people do this before to make fun of people so that’s my opinion
I was 6 when I started skating I fell approximately 23 times (according to my mum ) Now 13 one of the best hockey players on my team I play for hull sharks 16 and under
I used to play hockey when I was like 456 but then I stopped to place swim then I start then my parents said I have to do a sport then I went back to hockey again and I’m gonna do it in a week wish me luck
