Looks so serene there, nice to see you and Alex out and exploring such lovely sites. Rick I'm getting images of you becoming a verger at Alex's church haha j/k😄 Thanks for the chill video.
I can’t be the only one looking at that title pic thinking that the Rev. RickVanMan had joined Rev Alex on pilgrimage! Love the Cotswolds, great to see you two out and about in the country. To be that close to nature and in such a peaceful place is great for headspace.
Wow Rick, you nailed it, what a video, I don’t know about anyone else but this feels like you have levelled up! Great job on the edit, you made this feel very immersive, the tone of the video was spot on. Thanks for all the work you put into this, role on the next 👍
Hi Rick, another great video, such lovely beautiful scenery, you & Alex make a good team…..I think is funny how he Hijacks your camera whilst you are away 😂 I loved the narration you did of the history of the Hailes Abbey…..I have to ask Not seen much of Damon since your last Camping trip the other month! I look forward to seeing your next video 😊👍
Another great day out (from two perspectives). You and Alex are doing a great service to local tourism. How many of the thousands who watch this, myself included, will not have heard of Hailes Abbey until you and Alex visited? Putting some of these lesser-known, albeit unique, sites on the map. The graves under the floor of the church reminded me of a visit I had recently to St Audoen's Church, Dublin. I was told that the closer to the high alter, the more expensive the burial plot.
Your video no cream making was part of my university lectures (Naturopathy) and now I am here... :) You have a great camera style thanks for the smiles.
Very peaceful video Rick. I do not believe for one moment the vial of blood would have been genuine, us Catholics would not acknowledge that. As someone previously mentioned it would have been a lucrative attraction and money spinner for the Abbey. I did really love the church tho and its atmosphere. Im looking forward to your next trip xx
Brilliant video enjoyed that one thing why couldn't they make the protective boxes out of clear plastic? so u could still see whats underneath but keep them safe at same time look forward to next one
What an interesting video. We will never know if it was really Christ's blood in the vial but it makes a good story. There is supposedly a vial containing a small piece of cloth stained with the blood of Christ housed in a chapel in Bruges.
Great trip, Rick, really enjoyed that. Has anybody ever stopped you and mistook youfor the actor Mark Williams of Father Brown TV series? Seriously, you two could be brothers! Especially if you are out and about with a Vicar...lol...people might think that the character Father Brown was a real person who had come to real life....LOL
I’ve got to say, I’ve never actually heard of Mark Williams until you mentioned it LOL! Then I realised who he was. Haven’t had that sort of interaction yet, but it would be funny if it did happen 😄
@@rickvanman It's uncanny, actually, the resemblance. It would be really funny if anyone mistook you for FB! lol...(of course, a much handsomer and trimmer version...😇)
The Cotswolds is a beautiful area. We used the camp every year at the Hoburn Camp site between Swindon and Cirencester. A lovely video Rick - cheers. By the way the church next door looked Norman - could be older than the Abbey. I could be wrong but - the wall paintings suggest medieval
A vile of Christ's blood from when he was alive some 1300 years before is highly unlikely. Legends are not uncommon during medieval times when the church & its aristocracy was looking for ways to influence & maintain its power within society. People were much less cynical & educated in those days & instead much more superstitious. So myths & legends had alot of influence which persists to some extent even today, especially among more religious & spiritual folk around the world.
When you said 'Pays money' to see jesus's blood put it all into perspective for me. Even since those days there has been scammers lol. You should watch The Vikings if you haven't already seen it. They probably burmt that abbey to the ground.
Huh. I thought you were more into the pagan stuff. The early church was kinda ... odd. At least thats what my Protestant Reformation ancestors thought. Can't wait to watch the whole vid when I'm free. Darlin' are these your regular glasses then? Looks a little like my dad in 1968. Get some frameless to highlight the eyes on that beautiful face!
