When I drove for "cash only" companies before credit cards could be used to pay, several times I got ripped off by fares, sometimes they would jump and run. Once I got conned by a passenger who had me convinced that he drove for my company on the day shift, had me drive him all over, told me that the company would reimburse me for the ride, then, dispatch told me that they never heard of him. Pretty slick. Usually, we would ask for cash up front, but it was up to the driver's discretion, there was more trust back then.

A lot of times they gotta take that taxi back to a company at the end of their shift(I could be wrong idk if that’s how it works) but uber it’s ur own car and ur own boss and can do whatever the fuck you want, and no authority in the company to handle these kinds of situations properly. If anything i think theyre worse. At least with uber theres a record of who picked you up and their license plate. When u get in a taxi theres no record of anything. And ubers are tracked by gps so its safer. Taxis are waaaaay more expensive too.
