I live in scranton pa. Ive been to Nanticoke, buckhillfalls (cresco) and moconoaqua. Great video. I grew up exploring the woods of schuylkill and berks county. Keep the vids coming.
Awesome. Ill keep an eye out for it. I used to walk my dogs on all the old coal mine ruins in pottsville and minersville. Just started exploring the woods in dunmore just outside scranton. Pa has such a great history.
We hiked Hawk mountain :-) just don't have video of it as we hiked with a group of people from the meet-up app thing. Golden eagle trail, past the boulder fields and back up to Skyline trail. Awesome hike but it kicked my butt, lol :-)
What a great video!! Shows outsiders how blessed we are to live in this beautiful, awful and inspiring (I grew up in Pittsburgh...the land there was Raped and is covered now with these ruins!) It's good to see the land recovering from the wave of industrialization that rolled over us!
This is awesome - I moved to western PA about a year ago and I've been to the Kecksburg UFO site, Centralia, and the Westmorland abandoned glass factory - I love PA -
Great video, really enjoyed your work. I grew up in Philadelphia and have a few suggestions you may investigate. The entire area of Hermit Lane off of Henry Avenue down to the Hermit cave. Tookany creek from the bottom of Adams avenue to Tabor Road. Thanks for your great work.
There is another really good one in Mount Gretna, PA. Old foundations of stuff used on the Lebanon Valley Railroad and the Mount Gretna Narrow Gauge railroad are visible and you can find them by hiking off of a rail trail nearby.
@@RusticVentures oh and I had a question. Do you have coordinates for Bear Valley? I've been looking for it and I cannot find where it is on Google maps.
Ridley Creek State Park From the main entrance, follow the road to the end to parking area #15. There is a picnic area there. Take the blue trail on the far left straight to the ruins of a farm house. If you are looking at a trail map, it's where the blue trail forms a loop in the southern end of the park. This is a pretty easy hike. There are ruins of at least 3 buildings on the multi-use trail. I believe they were all homes. One is near parking area 15, the other two that I remember are near parking area #9, east of the intersection of the white and blue trails and the multi-use trail. The multi-use trail is hilly, and challenging hike or bike ride if you want to attempt to hit all three without driving. It's a more challenging hike along the blue trail, especially since the dirt trails are not marked all that well in places. You might also be interested in the Newlin Grist Mill near Concordville if you are in the area. I believe all the buildings are more recreations, but it's a nice place to spend a few hours walking around. The mill property is over 150 acres with creeks and brooks with bridges across, a dam, and about a dozen historic buildings. It's not as much of a challenging hike as Ridley Creek Park. Brandywine Battlefield Park is 4 miles south down Route 1 from the Mill
U titled the name of these place in the wrong spot. U had the titles of the place show on the place before the actual place of the title which confused the hell out of us.
Thanks for eye-opening views in PA other than Centralia. I'm still learning a lot about PA's historical past, it is an interesting state amongst the old ones.
A town named SWARTHMORE tells u exactly who was living here already before the HIJACK,Swarthy Moor's lol,why did it take so long for people to srart figuring out what really went down on this soil?!?!Beautiful video btw!!
Originally ftom Scranton worked and went to school, I know live in west Norriton 5 minutes ftom valley forge. I am going to hike in and see Colonial springs bottling company and check out a few other sites you did. Lots to see and video and take pictures. Thank you this great video.
Thank you :-) Lots of different sources. I belong to a couple groups on FB, there are also websites and blogs. A lot of times, locations are not given so I have to do a lot of research and that includes using Google Earth to pinpoint and other sources. It's more work than what people think, lol. Believe it or not, a parking area is my greatest challenge.
Really cool stuff. It sucks that none are close to me (Pittsburgh Area). I know Western PA fairly well and I have to admit I've never heard of a lot of these towns. Maybe this video should be called 20+ places in Central and Eastern PA lol
I enjoyed this but those are not the Thomas Iron Works but the American Cement Company in Egypt PA. The Thomas iron Works are on the same trail but along the Lehigh River....both are amazing spots.
Fantastic video. Very interesting and so well put together. I've lived in Pittsburgh my whole life. Some strange places I've seen around here as well. I'm happy to subscribe. I look forward to seeing all of your videos, including all the ones to come. Thanks 👍
I'm not sure if it was by design, but if it was, great plan to shoot this video when you did. The sparseness of leaves in the fall gives for a great view of the ruins. Well done video.
A little bit of commentary, even just a little, would helps us viewers relate with the emotions being projected. Anyway, I live in south central Pennsylvania. The east broad top railroad, centralized in orbisonia, has abandoned buildings that run the whole length, and a tunnel. But is also under new ownership who plans to get a big part up and running again. They will blast the tunnel open. You may not have much time left to check it out. Also, the thousand steps between mapleton and mount union has an old abandoned building at the top. There are many more in huntingdon County also. I live like 20 minutes from breezewood and the old turnpike. And have been to most of the places you featured. Right now I'm working in ohiopyle, where they have the natural water slide.
Check Kinsey Distillery or what's left of it Linfield pa And The Hagley Museum and Library is a nonprofit educational institution in Wilmington, Delaware.
Very humbing to see what a few hundret years can do to human creations. Nothing is permanent withou constant maintenance. Force of nature will reclaim it all back as soon as you get weak! This is a look into the future of America, which is neglecting it's own infrastructure in many places due to the greed of few!
I have a sick campsite in the loop trail over looking a cliff. We build walls on the cliff side but left an opening to go hangingout where there is more room
I find going to the Abandoned Pa Turnpike is best done at the end of March or early April. Before the leaves grow on the trees. It feels more open and is easier to explore. I was there in March 2013. This video appears to show Sideling Hill Tunnel only a few months 9r even a few weeks later. The graffiti is the same as it was then and I could spot the Abgry Birds painted not to far inside the right hand side of the tunnel. My video is ony channel of my trips I've taken there.
What is the music track you used for the first couple of minutes? Stunning choice - contributes well to the sense of desolation these abandoned places have. This Pittsburgh native enjoyed seeing these places, some for the first time.
It's amazing these gigantic abandoned buildings were once a bustling place. And it was somebody's job to be there every day. But no more. Several others to visit in PA are Greenwood furnace and Thousand Steps in Huntingdon County. Bird Rock in Reedsville, Mifflin County. But this isn't an abandoned place, it's a natuaral feature of the mountain.
Mocanaqua, born and raised. The "loop trail" resides in Mocanaqua, not Shickshinny. Israel and Palestine, so far as I'm concerned. Better class of people on this side of the river. Concrete City resides in the Hanover section of Nanticoke. These places are not the same.
For future reference when making one of your videos, keep the soundtrack level lower. These aren't concert videos, the music was too overwhelming for me.
I have a subscription to EpidemicSound - I believe one of them is by Bonnie Grace. I love a lot of her orchestral music. It's been a few years :-) Gavin Luke is another. So many I really like.
I grew up on n PA and never heard of most of these places. Use to explore an old brick plant in Clarion, stone bridges which I love -- oh, so many great finds. Thank you for sharing yours!

I know it's been a while since you commented but I hope you see this. I'm from Franklin, PA and have always been interested in finding abandoned places to explore. Could you give me any additional information on how to find the abandoned brick plant? That would be so helpful and I'd be very appreciative!
Pittsburgh i NOT in ruins you moron. It is consistently ranked as one of the best places to live in America. Yet you are correct Filthy Philly is all ruins.
@@patfitz6631 So you spaz out when he goes in on Pittsburgh, then you turn on Philly. No comparisons to the cities, so I don't even need to rip your city.
