Can you tell me where the video is for etching slate? I love this ides for my staff Christmas gifts this year. Thanks! Will order my slate from your link.
I have been a paid member of Makers Gonna Learn for a reallly long time (I think I’ve paid for my second year already) but I’ve been extremely ill. I keep thinking “I’ll get better and so I’ll keep this membership so it’ll be here when I can do it”. So, being a 2 year old utter rookie, I’m wondering: Where do I find my membership stuff? How do I find the membership training, fonts, commercial licence, files, etc??? Do you have an app? Is it something I can just open and figure out, and my name will be there? Is it relatively intuitive? I’m totally lost and want to look for some files to move over to Cricut access to make stuff with. Somebody please help me! I used to be sharp as a tack, and now, thanks to Lyme disease, I have a short term memory of a wet noodle. I am looking for a Step 1, Step 2, Step 3… thank you! Step 1 would be WHERE do I find what I have been paying for? And how do I get access to the many files? God bless you!!!!
There are “good” transfer sheets and not so good ones. The Cricut ones are pretty good and they also come in “strong” stickiness versions as well which are great! Dollar stores ones are pretty much the most difficult to use as they seem to have the least “stick”. Try a few different brands until you find your favourite level of “stick”. What you also might look at is the design you are attempting. The very first project I attempted was WAY too detailed for a newbie like me to properly handle as it had a kajillion tiny wee pieces… it was a nightmare. Just because the machine can CUT it doesn’t always mean that a sane person can weed it and get it onto and off of a transfer sheet without breaking the laws of physics or you consuming an entire bottle of wine! I look back on that project now years later and I would be really hesitant to attempt it again it was so detailed. Lastly, I have also found that handling the vinyl with my (admittedly sometimes greasy) paws can make it more difficult to adhere to the transfer sheet. Always wash that luscious smelling hand cream off (and whatever else you might have going on) right before you handle the vinyl. Using a brayer/roller versus your hand to stick the vinyl down onto your mat will also reduce the chances of your paws making the vinyl even slightly goopy (yes, that’s the scientific term) and thus not sticking to your transfer sheet. Hope something in there helps! Lastly, if you despise transfer sheets and the accompanying pain and suffering (I hear ‘ya) consider doing some HTV or infusible ink projects! Weeding for both is dreamy… and no transfer sheets to use EVER! The first time I used HTV I was like “What? That’s it? Love”! ❤
