Drive in is old school from the 50s and 60s...you literally drove up to the restaurant, park and someone would come to your car to take your ordered while in your car, then you'd take the food home or to the park to eat.

Agree the hidden gems 💎where the locals go are the best!!! My sister and I followed construction 🚧workers to the best food in Kauai. It was 3 blocks of the main street on a tiny road ...we went back 3 times during our 2 week stay on the Island.

Hawaiian Ice cream was really good I had that in San Francisco but I know Shaved ice is good on a hot day

I don't eat poke either but like Saimin. I think Uncle Clay's house of Aloha has a very unique shave ice. I love the Loco moco at Cafe 100. Some times you can find the Hawaiian juice can drinks in Asian markets on the mainland. One of my favorite grinds is Hula dogs. Mahalo nui loa for the video. Aloha

The Po'ke Bowls on the mainland are "wanna be" bowl with varies topping and made with "FROZEN" ahi. In Hawaii we don't really do that because the Ahi is super fresh and prepared properly!

Hi Chris. Great livestream as always. Hopefully people can try some of those foods that the locals enjoy.Places that people can check out also are the del places where you can choose a number of different types of food and make your own plate. i Agree that some of the best places to enjoy local food is finding the little hole in the wall places.

I like your videos 👍 on Monday we are planning to travel to Hawaii but weather is cloudy 🤦‍♀️who knows can we swim in the ocean with kids?

Many beaches are kid-friendly. As a parent, I would take your family to beaches with lifeguards (not all do). Check in with them for advice about the safest spots on the beach itself when you get there because it can vary from one end to the other. If it's overcast/cloudy, that's okay too because it'll be cooler, lol. Be careful not to overestimate your ocean skills because we have deep shelves offshore that generate stronger wave energy.
