20 Best Game Boy Advance Games Of All Time 

Recently found out my mom kept all my gaming stuff from my childhood and when I got the box full of them I found my game boy advance SP with all my old games and I about cried. Game boy advance is still by far one of the best handhelds of all time.

As a kid, I sank so many hours into Golden Sun 1+2, FF Tactics Advance and Pokemon Ruby/Emerald. It was a magical time.

You need an honorable mention for Dragonball Adventure Advance & Legacy of Goku 2

Golden Sun and the sequel Lost Age are my two favorite GBA games. I think a remaster is in order.

The library of great GBA games is seriously impressive. So many bangers came to that console.

The tagline for *Mother 3* is "Strange. Funny. Heartrending." and I cannot think of a better way to describe it.

Final fantasy tactics advance deserves recognition for story line. The game deals with heavy topics of depression, disability, losing ur parents, bully. As somebody who is 100 percent disabled the game hit hard for me. Dealing with depression, having a un curable disease that gets worse everyday n all top of losing my parents one of the few games that spoke to struggles of my life. Thank goodness things got better in my life, which tactics advance teaches you that eventually in life things would get better for you no matter how darks things are. N man mother 3 is easily one of my favorite games of all time.

Not only is Mother 3 the best game on the GBA but it is also one of the greatest Nintendo games of all time

This is a good list. I can't help but feel surprised that none of the mega man battle network games were on here. Those games were fun and seemed like they were quite popular

Chain of memories came to me at the time when KH was at the peak for me and I loooved the original on gba. For sure one of my favorite games.

Some of my favorite GBA games were Blender Bros., Pokemon Pinball, The Sims: Bustin' Out, and Warioland 4. Also, I'm actually surprised to know I have several games from this list.

Final Fantasy Tactics Advance was sooooooooo goooood. The plot is crazy. The basic premise is: you and your friends borrow a (magic) book that ends up granting your bullied friend’s wish and reshapes reality based on the fantasy world within. You’re trying to fix things and go back home but all your other friends like their new lives better and aren’t too happy with you meddling. Once I realized you learned all kinds of info when you pressed select over an item or pressed R in the character menu I was hooked for hours customizing my clan with new jobs and abilities, trying to complete obscure jobs, etc. It’s a very awesome game overall.

Boktai: The Sun is in Your Hand, Guardian Heros, MegaMan Battle Network series, Golden Sun are definitely my favorites. I'm surprised with the way pvp worked that MMBN isn't on here at all or Boktai either.

Sonic advance 2 and Pokémon Emerald were the pinnacle of my childhood gaming experience. They hold up inanely well even to this day

The Crash and Spyro crossover games were a highlight for me - not on the level of most games on here but enjoyable regardless

Gameboy advance is where I left off before I had to wait till I was 18 to play video games again. It was nice to go back there for a bit 😊

Nice choices. I really love the GBA and I got 19 out of the 20 games in this video in my collection. The only one thats missing is Sonic Advance. Sadly I miss all of the Sonic Advance games and I need to fix that 😉. 4 of the remaining 19 games in my collection are only loose cartridges without box or manual (Super Mario Advance 2, Zelda Minish Cap, Wario Land 4 and Mother 3 (reproduction cartridge with the english fantranslation)). The other 15 games are cib in my collection with very nice conditions. There are so many other great games on the system: Breath of Fire II, Lunar, Tactics Ogre, Lufia Ruins of Lore, Metal Slug Advance, Gunstar Heroes, Boktai, Wario Ware Twisted. I'm still looking for Astro Boy, Contra, DKC 1-3, Super Mario Ball and Mega Man & Bass. ~ kind regards ~

I freakin loved chain of memories. I was surprised how quickly I came to terms with the card system. I was also irritated by how many reviews said that it was a retelling of the first game and gave it a lower score. It had a brand new story and introduced so many characters. Maybe not enjoyable for anyone who isn't familiar with the story, but great if you are.

You get my upvote for including Metroid Fusion and Zero Mission! Specifically Fusion is still my favourite Metroid game to date, even though both Super and Dread are incredible!

I still play Pokémon Ruby, sapphire, Emerald, Fire Red, and Leaf Green! They should of been 1 and 2!

I have to mention something that I _KNOW_ won't be on the list - Shining Force: Resurrection of the Dark Dragon - which is a remaster of Shining Force: Legacy of Great Intention on the Sega Genesis. It's a fantastic turn-based strategy game - think Fire Emblem, but with more memorable character and much more magic. It's not QUITE as good as the original in some aspects - they messed the magic up a little, swapping the effect of level 3 and level 4 spells - but they've added a ton of new mechanics and a few new playable characters, as well as optional backstory conversations for all of your party members.

Yes! Friends of mineral Town was on the list! Hands down the best of the early games in the harvest Moon franchise and while the remake on Switch was still good it did not have the same kind of soul to it

I grew up with Minish Cap, Chain of Memories and FFTA. Fond memories there.

I'm happy they finally re-released the mega Man Battle Network series on Switch because it is hands down one of my favorite GBA titles of all time

I am a new generation boy. I still haven't exist or too little when this game console was popular back then. Now, I am 17 and find out some of these videos about Gameboy advance or retro gaming things, I decided to try playing it. Even tho, I don't have any of those old game console cuz I think, It will be hard to find such things anymore nowadays, including the cartridges. So I played it on an emulator on my PC or my android TV box by connecting my wireless game controller, and yeah it pretty fun. Ofc, I can't find those game cartridges anymore, cuz nobody sells them anymore here. I just download some of those GBA ROMs from online and open them in the emulator.

So happy to see the Metroidvanias in the top 5. Spent well over 100 hours in zero mission probably close to 400 on fusion. Amazing games.

Solid list But a hidden gem that not a lot talk about is Iridion 2 It really pushed what that system could do and then some along with a kick ass OST

A lot of hidden gems exist on the GBA that don’t even have a lot of attention. Truly a prolific handheld console.

I know it won’t be on this list but dk king of swing is so good and deserves more love

I would add Duke Nukem Advance, which was a surprising good FPS on a handheld console.

Advance Wars 2 blew me away as a teen

I would've included how Golden Sun: The Lost Age let you port your original team forward via an extremely archaic and cumbersome system...which DID yield nifty benefits.

people should still play OG metroid IMO it just gives you a kind of an experience that zero mission dosn't really capture (like actual exploring)

I have a grievance with the ranking of the Pokémon games on the list, but any gripes I may have are left null and void by the presence and placement of #1 on this list. Without question, the peak of the Game Boy Advance. And the heights are astronomical.

Surprised no Yugioh games on the list, yugioh was at its peak popularity during the gba era and the games were all pretty good

Ruby is my favorite pokemon game and the last one I had played till I got back into it with the switch pearl arceus and scarlet

The judges killed the fun of tactics Advance for me, and the original tactics is easily in my top 5 games of all time.

My battery died so many times playing FF Tactics Advanced because I got so caught up in playing it that I forgot to plug my GBA in at times.

Super Mario advance 4: super Mario Bros 3 was my very first video game. Never had an e-reader for those extra levels though.

I love many of these wonderful classic games. Also for years I heard Mario Kart Super Circuit sucks and is not a good Mario Kart. I brought It and It's a fun game for the Nintendo Advance game and I love It. I would say there are better Mario Kart games overall but this one is still great. Cool video. ^_^

Silent hill 1 on GBA wae a Japanese exclusive as well as a launch title if I remember right. Had content that had to be bought or otherwise unlocked with the Japanese then exclusive Nintendo wifi setup which means not only is that not available now but carts that do on fact feature the bonus content are more highly sought after and expensive. Good times. If we are including fan translated ports, people have made some rather nice dragon warrior/quest collections but there is also Monsters 3 caravan. A fun game to compare to the pokemon series. As far as games that are pokemon as well as ones fans made available that don't seek to turn the series into a collection of moe styled girls or seemingly adult content, there is the pokemon trading card game sequel that saw a release in Japan I believe but Nintendo decided to not make available elsewhere as it was launching too close to the release of the DS. never mind the fact that the DS has a GBA slot, but that would have been a fun way for fans of the card game to keep their habits relevant as they get older and perhaps aren't going to be allowed to play in most card shops alongside the kiddies.
