When will someone do a video on the not so over publicized things to do in Santa Fe? Tired of the same old... Santa Fe opera, canyon road.. YAWN. Every tourist magazine and travel website has all of this... come on, try harder.
From a lifetime local: the best thing to do is to not get shot (one of the highest crime rates per capita), move to los alamos county (the best county in the state by far), and make sure you live northeast of the cerrillos road/st francis intersection so you can get the better policing side of the city. This place has low paying jobs (outside of owning your business and working for the labs) compared to the cost of living. The spanish culture is under fire constantly. The homeless population runs wild. Our criminal justice system is also a joke.

Also, being lifelong residents of the city, it's been tough to watch the city change. It's definitely not the same for us now as it was when we were kids growing up here. Regarding crime, homelessness, and drug addiction, these issues often go hand in hand, and we’re seeing them affect communities all over America, not just here in Santa Fe. It’s a complex problem that many cities and states are grappling with. Different parts of the city do experience varying levels of policing and safety, and it’s something every homebuyer should consider when choosing a neighborhood. Santa Fe’s economy is unique, with opportunities in the labs, small business ownership, and a growing arts and tourism sector. While the cost of living can be high, there are people who find a balance and thrive here. Growing up in the Agua Fria Village, it hasn't always been easy. But my family and I have worked hard and have found ways to thrive in our hometown. We always encourage folks to do their research and visit the area to see if it’s the right fit for them. There’s no perfect place, but Santa Fe continues to be a special home for many of us.
