IF, if , if I was in charge of the NZ Tourism Board, I would pick this video and use as a promotion of both the South Island (look at the scenery you filmed and added in) and the fact that which ever City/Town you pull into you can sit and not only drink a beer, brewed locally but also eat - which from not only this video but recent ones you have highlighted that food is a staple in the Pub and/or brewing House you visited. Oh, just a final note, you should be thankful we do not have a Highway patrol that could/would/ may have "pulled you over on the pretense that you have 'flat tyre'' but really wanted to check your breath then blood alcohol level - you know the drill. Cheers. Canadian pint jeeze!

Hey thanks a lot! We are a family who try to avoid the larger big name places by supporting local as much as we can and it couldn’t be more easy to do that here in New Zealand. Hey dude, first of all love your videos, secondly ive driven that coastal highway a butt load of times and this is the first time ive ever heard of mapua. Gonna have to go on a road trip i think. We are most definitely spoilt in this wee block of paradise.

Hey thanks a lot! Yeah as soon as we moved to Nelson a bunch of people I work with told me I had to go to Mapua. It's pretty small but SUPER nice. Definitely spoiled indeed haha cheers 🍻 🍺

@@donovankelly12 oh you young people, Mapua is famous as NZ's nudist / clothing optional camp ground & beach. The town of Mapua was almost non-existent in the late 1980s, but like all places in the Nelson / Mot area has gown up so much. I can't remember the place there, really small but one of the best burgers I've ever had was from Mapua,

@compienz There wasn't much there in the 90's either. I still remember the camp showers with no doors and the old nude people playing tennis lol. It got sold at some point and a lot of the trees got cut down so it looks very different now.

... wait what, did I miss a video 'the last time', you guys heading home? Anyways oh my days what a trip, so many great spots I love, then there's the breweries. Castles, makes the finest Bitter in NZ hands down, nothing even compares. Available on tap only, or from the tap room, not bottled or canned, just the best (and yeah their pizzas are pretty good). Three Boys might be my fav NZ craft brewery (b.effect right up there), the Tres Amigos was a colab done when they had (funny enough) 3 Mexican brewers out for a season & made this gem which is along with Funk Estate's Soul Train (Peach Tea IPA) are my fav beers. The only brewery I hadn't been to was up in Westport, but I love that Vanilla Sun! Great video as always, cheers guys

Nah you haven’t missed any, just slipped it in there that our time here is running out and we won’t be back in Dunedin or a lot of these spots for quite some time. Looks like we share a lot of similar interests! Really great beer down here eh. That Peach Tea IPA sounds really interesting 🍻🍻

What an amazing comment to read, thank you so much!! You are right, they thoroughly enjoyed New Zealand. All of the major cities were really fun but they kinda surprised me a little bit haha they absolutely LOVED Oamaru and the steampunk stuff. The elephant rocks was another one that they were really blown away by, and in general just how many beautiful places there were along the water. Whether it be lakes, Tasman sea, or the Pacific Ocean, they loved everything on the water. Thank you for the best comments!! 😃😃🍻🍻

Great video!! So many incredible craft breweries in NZ, I am going to miss a lot of them. Some of the best beer in the world here for sure! 🍻 I should mention that I was the designated driver on this road trip which means I drank things like non-alc beer, Kombucha, craft soda and such at each brewery (with the occasional beer sip from others beers of course!). New Zealand has a really awesome selection of non-alcoholic drinks for sober folks and that's just amazing!!

Your videos are so good Donovan, I fell like I'm sitting in those breweries with you. I'm a kiwi, but am constantly surprised at the super high quality of craft beers made here. please don't go back to Canada....haha

Haha thanks so much! I think it’s fair to say that our entire family were pleasantly surprised by the amount of great craft breweries throughout the country. Haha sorry to say we won’t be here for too much longer, but are enjoying our limited time here. EXTREMELY looking forward to fresh hop season coming up here 😃

I'm sure there's more than 2 that you missed haha, but heres 2 that you definately missed.. Canyon is an obvious one that I'm very suprised you didnt add to the tour considering it's notiriety & that youve been there in another video.. And then in Christchurch there's one noteable but not quite so well known one that you missed & that's Beers Brewery, or Beers by Bacon Bros. They have an awesomely expanding range in New World, their "Mr Peanut Butter" (Bojack Horseman reference) peanut stout range is EPIC! They have Mr Peanut Butter, Mr Peanut Butter & Jelly, Mr Peanut Butter & Chocolate, all of them some of the smoothest stouts ive had. Their Hazys are good too.. Otherwise, good selection in your tour.. Although, you missed Blenheim entirely, so no Moa or Renaisance haha.. I guess it didnt workout with the loop? Either way still a good video. But i highly reccommend a BEERS Beer from New World, you'll dig them :)

Hey thanks for pointing that out! We really wanted to go to Beers by Bacon Bros but that day we were exploring Christchurch it was unfortunately just a touch out of the way so we ended up not going there… which was too bad. Have met them at Beervana and slightly featured them in the Dunedin Craft Beer and Food Festival video, they are a bunch of awesome people who make some pretty fantastic beer 🍻 As for Canyon, nothing wrong with that place, other than it doesn’t feel like a brewery haha there was just WAY too many screaming children running around when we were there. But they had really good New England IPAs and the location/ patio is absolutely 10/10. I think we felt like we’d rather keep going up the road to Wanaka and hit up Rhyme x Reason & Ground Up since they brew some of our favourites 🍻 Yeah we did miss Blenheim unfortunately, we have been to Renaissance but would like to see DNA and Moa still… Thanks for all of your recommendations! I have written those down and will be on the look out next beer run!!

Moon unit is moon under water. It’s not brewed onsite as such. Great pub though! Eruption only has 8-9 taps so it is quite limited. Glad you had a great time in the mainland

Hey thanks for clarifying that! That’s what it was sounding like but I couldn’t find a definitive answer in my limited research. They had t shirts of Weasels ripped my flesh so I figured it was a collaboration brew between them and Altitude. We had a blast, thanks for watching! 🍻

It’s such a cool thought to maybe have that one day but the reality is I would need SO much help haha I wouldn’t even know where to begin outside of making the name, logo, and beer names. But you never know!
