I like your interest in Bud Powell. An artist with a troublesome life, but incredible creativity and playing. Some of these intros happen so fast, one has to watch/ listen several times to really understand the beauty.

Hi Ms. Park, that intro on Yesterdays is also an Intro on “You go to my Head” on Powell’s 1951 “The amazing Bud Powell” album, nevertheless it’s amazing

Great work as usual ! For your listeners, I feel the need to point out that there is a difference between C7 #11 and C7 b5 ;' in "Get Happy", the written notes are correct and confirms the 7b5 chord symbol.

The thumbnail "I Can't Get Started" is certainly a mood with practicing for me lately. Anyway, I really love Bud Powell, his playing always has so much life and energy, and you did that justice I think!! Really impressive 😁 Also it's interesting how Get Happy, Nice Work If You Can Get It, and Sunset all share some of the same licks, it's neat to see little bits of an artist's style shine through so strongly like that.

항상 유익한 영상 많이 올려주셔서 감사합니당>< 잘 보고 있어요ㅎㅎ 혹시 카피를 하거나 transcription을 보면서 분석할 때 무엇을(스케일이나 어프로치 등) 어떻게 분석해야 하고, 무엇에 집중해야 하는 지도 알려주실 수 있을까요?ㅠ 카피하고 공부해서 릭이나 보이싱을 제 것으로 만들고 싶은데 12키 돌려서 단순히 외우기만 하면 응용도 잘 안되는 것 같아서요...

Jimin, when you first started playing did you transcribe Jazz songs by looking at sheet music or by ear? Genuinely curious as I struggle tremendously by ear 🙂.

Art Tatum actually dismissed Bud as being a one handed pianist due to this belief. Bud felt the need to prove him wrong, and if I remember correctly, the next time he was in his presence, Bud played one of Art's own pieces at a blazing tempo with his left hand alone.
