At 4:44 you can also say weights or exercise weights, but the exact word is dumbbells. Good lesson and you're a great teacher saying the words slowly. Dakuyo

Hi Inna, thank you for this lesson. We speak of dry air in the Netherlands, though more often, we complain about humid air. I hope that despite the circumstances you had a nice day last week, on your birthday.

🇬🇧 I agree. We rarely get dry air, unless it is indoors and the central heating is too hot. Humid air, very frequent.

Very useful adjectives. Haven't come across many of these at this point in my studies.

No wonder you started with clean. Cleanliness is an impression I get from many ukrainian people. Some of the reason is because it is necessary when it is hot in summer.

Each of those adjectives except for „good” and „hard” has a Polish cognate and is easy to recognize. :)

Важкий and ważki are false friends though, the latter (a bit archaic) meaning 'important' in Polish and neither heavy (ciężki) nor difficult (trudny). Ważkie hantle is something only a dedicated bodybuilder would say about their lost / misplaced / stolen dumbells. :)

I love your videos! Could you do one on pronouncing short words? I am trying to figure out how the sounds go together. It would help to be able to read and pronounce little short words. I can pronounce the alphabet but I get stuck if there are more than a few letters in a word.

Thank you for another informative video. Many years ago I learned a fair bit of Russian and it’s probably as much of a handicap as an advantage for learning Ukrainian. The words in the two languages are sometimes near cognates but are otherwise completely different. The words for foreign are half cognate but half different. Perhaps there is a deeper meaning of how Russians and Ukrainians perceive the world in the etymology of иностранный and іноземні. Again, thank you for your video. I’m really hoping that Kherson will be liberated this summer so you can re-unite with your father. Слава Україні! ❤️🇺🇦

Thank you for another interesting video, Inna. What frightens me the most is the alphabet because many letters look like ours and mean something different. This is the first thing I will have to learn, because as long as I can´t read the Cyrillic alphabet, learning vocabulary will be futile. I will order your basic textbook and listen to your first videos again where you explained it diligently. When you did these first videos, I was not even aware that Ukrainian is an own language. According to my brainwashing (thanks to RT), I did not even realize this very basic fact. It´s amazing how fast things can change. Of course, it would be easier if I were 14 instead of 40 when learning a new language, but I like challenges. Kind regards from Austria and Slava Ukraini, Mathias (Mathew)

It's interesting that Japanese language also separates feminine from masculine. It's also interesting that the Finnish language also has a lot of similarities to the Japanese language. Ukrainian language has similarities with Finnish, Japanese, Russian, English & I'm sure that there are other languages that have some similarities that I just don't know. Thanks 4 more language lessons.
