just depends on where its used^^ though i think in most areas where they don't replant the forest having ppl do this is far cheaper than using an expensive machine

@1WildlandFirefighter depends on what too big of a tree is, according to wikipedia the largest cutting heads can handle trees up to 70-100cm in diameter... it also sais nealy all logging in scandinavia and 30-50% (rising) in middle europe is done with such machines and they are also used in wood plantations in tropical regions

No. 13 did not impress. There's machines out there that lift the track and replace both sleepers and ballast and then reattaches the tracks in a single fluid motion, and much faster. Just search on RU-vid for track replacement machine.

Imagine how handy a trench digger would have been through the first world war. A big steam powered one with a few machine gun turrets on the top, all the dug up dirt bagged into sandbags and laid in a wall on one side.

One enormous invention we need is faster, cheaper and safer tunnel boring machines. By fast, I mean several kilometers a week, not one per month. This way we can have cheaper subways, sewers, and underground railways, as well as super long tunnels between islands.
