I owned a Hyundai Sonata which has a top speed of 155 (it's a sedan!). I laugh at these so-called muscle cars.

@ the end of the day you still will have a Sonata, in so many years no one will not know it ever existed. And one more thing each day it worth is less, tel one day it will be worthless. These old cars and more than a car they are a rolling art.

just a few things. All SCJ 429 Engines were rated the same. All BOSS 429 engines were rated the same. All 426 HEMI's were rated the same. if you had a HEMI in a roadrunner, charger or cuda it was the same engine. There never was a 440 HEMI. ALL 440 engines be it single 4bbl , dual 4bbl or 3x2bbl they all had the WEDGE heads. Top speed on these cars varied according to the engine and rear gearing. You can't say one will run 118mph and another will run 140mh. You could get from a 276 to a 488 in some cars, but most were available with 325 to 430 gears varying the top end speed by 30 mph or more. for those who think their cars would run 160mph just because it had a 160mph speedometer like some of the chargers had doesn't mean it would run that fast, even if you were in it and saw it hit 160mph. back in the day there was so much error in the speedometers that at an honest 120mph the speedometer may well be showing 160. The speedometers only had to be accurate at 60mph and the error helped sell cars. Lastly there never was a six 2bbl option from ANY car company.

The '60s "Trans-Am' pony cars were ALL rated at 290HP to avoid insurance surcharges during the "muscle car era'" of the mid to late '60s! Top speed on the "muscle cars" didn't matter, the "deep" rear ends limited top speed. What mattered was the 1320ft times and trap speed! With a "granny" rear end, those cars would easily reach 150+MPH even with the horse shit aerodynamics of the day!!!

Yeah and the 440s did not come with two four-barrel carburetors they were either the ABS or the six pack with the three two-barrel carburetors the last time two four barrels were used was the 4136 Max wedges in the early 60s

There was a 403 oldsmobile as well as a pontiac 400. The 400 was rare in later years until they ran out of them in 79. HP was 185 for the olds, 200 and 220 in the last batch of Pontiac engines

Had a chance to buy a '71 Trans-Am for $4500 MSRP in '71, but deal didn't go through, dealer offered $ 1850 for my '69 BOSS 302 ($4300 OTD, '69). I put a custom hood scoop on the BOSS which the dealer gave thumbs down! Ended up going with a '71 BOSS 351 mustang instead ( old BOSS fetched $2300, against $4800 for the "351". I wish I could have "caved" and had the Trans-Am. With the 400ci in the "power barn", it was considered the BEST HANDLING American car, could even out handle a '71 Vette and do 0-60 in 5.8sec. Looking back, the BOSS 302 would be the car I would want back. It was the BEST looking Mustang, being designed by Larry Shenoda and handled like a dream!!!

With a 4.30 rear end it MIGHT NOT go past 121, but going through the traps at the end of 1320ft doing 121 puts it in a VERY special class!
