We just froze a ton of different kinds of peppers from our garden. I can't wait until the tomatoes get ripe. We have a lot of zucchini and squach we have been using in different dishes we have never made before. All of them have been a hit. I love having a garden. Have a blessed day Kimmy and Fam💗
Good afternoon Kimmie. My favorite method of maintaining a sustainable pantry and stockpiling items long term for the whole family is what I consider to be the most practical, utilizing every type of food storage methods and technology available, both old and new. . Except for the fruits and vegetables that get canned, I keep perishable items like meat, poultry, fish, fruit, vegetables and dairy products in the refrigerator on a short term basis until I'm ready to use them for a big family meal - and for even longer term sustainable storage, a large separate freezer, which can store a half side of beef with plenty of room left over for homemade ice cream etc. . I'm considering upgrading to a walk-in freezer at some point.in the near future, if my plans to open a bed and breakfast come to fruition. Sometimes, however a nice round of cheese can do well for quite awhile on a pantry shelf at room temperature - and doesn't mind even if it has to stand there alone. Store bought canned goods get shelves.in the large pantry closet - several for canned meat like corned beef hash, spam and sandwich spread and another for canned vegetables Bread, rolls, grains, homemade pasta, cereals and the like are stored in special humidity controlled bins I order from Amazon Prime - which usually get delivered to my doorstep about an hour after I order them. . Stuff from the family garden and orchard, like onions, bell peppers, tomatoes, cauliflower, cucumber, pumpkins, carrots, corn celery,, potatoes and yams, cherries, blueberries and strawberries get canned in Mason Jars and stored in the cool, root cellar of this wonderful rambling former farmhouse (circa 1867) I share with my extended blended family and several rambunctious dogs raised on table scraps from the some of the finest food from a plethora of sources both commercial and home based. . There's even a special separate "summer kitchen" which I converted to store butter and ice cream churns, pots, pans, utensils, extra storage containers, foil, bags, cutlery, and other meal related accoutrement. Out back in the woods, just beyond the big pile of wood I maintain all year, (for use in an antique woodstove I keep on hand, in case the power goes out) there's even an old rusting vintage still where my great grandfather made some of the finest corn whiskey for miles. Next to it is the rusting hulk of the Ford Model A he used to transport that powerful hootch by the light of the moon on soft summer nights to his eager customers in a tri-county area. Further into this verdant forest of mostly sycamore, oak, pine and scrub, runs a cool stream into which I occasionally cast a rod or net to catch some Brook Trout, Bluntnose Shiners, or whatever takes the bait (just earthworms for the most part). And yes, hunting season means wild turkey, deer, and even an occasional wild boar. Next week, I'm planning on filing for a permit to 3-D print a smokehouse in order to be able to create gourmet artisan handcrafted, beef, bacon, turkey, and beef stick jerky, which interested local merchants can private label for other people to share with their families and their family dogs. Unfortunately, I had to break the bad news to my free range hens today that due to expected egg shortages regretfully numbered are their days of laying a couple of eggs and then basically taking the rest of the day off with ranging privileges' within the parameters of a few very nice rural acres - parts of which are rich with fat grubworms. There's even a short dirt road between the main barn and the farmhouse which they're free to cross to get to the other side as often as they'd like. My rooster Ben overheard me and he ain't too happy either, knowing full well that due to ongoing egg shortages, he'll be "workin' overtime to make sure there's plenty of eggs for my family and I.
I noticed you used a lot of stock footage in today's video. They look good but I honestly love and enjoy the previous style more (less or no stock footage)! Thank you for making my day with today's upload! :)
Girl, love your content lately! Such good info for your viewers, especially with the economy. 😒😒 Something I always have in my freezer is my "bag-o-broth" makings. It's the bits and pieces from onions, carrots, celery, and parsley stems. I add to it on a regular basis, then toss in all those frozen bits with chicken carcass or beef bones, simmer all day, and viola, you have the makings for a great broth that cost nothing! Home canned broth is sooo much better than store bought!
I love this, so much info packed into this video 😍 Food savers are great for freezing fresh produce. I never had much luck with freezing herbs, the idea of the olive oil cubes is brilliant!
Very good video. There is so much to know about freezing items, but it is so simple. Thanks for sharing this. I freeze a lot of items to save them from going bad in my fridge.
I wrap my whole green peppers. I dig out the center & put 2 pcs of paper towels inside the pepper and wrap around d it and put in a freezer bag. Works great!👌🏼 thanks for your videos♥️🙋🏻♀️
Thank you for the wonderful information. I use to Can and freeze things for ever. However, there are things in your video I didn't know they would freeze.
I love your channel. I find I'm not motivated to cook. I used to love cooking but It's become a huge effort. Going to binge watch your videos for motivation! Also am eating low carb and slowly losing weight. Not sure if that's why I'm not motivated to cook? I sometimes meal prep so I stick to my eating plan. It's becoming boring. I cook cottage pie, lasagna, fish etc for my kids (5&8) and they love it.
I've been freezing veggies for a lot of years. I canned my green beans for years but started freezing them because I'm older now. It got to hard. Still make pickles.
@She’sInHerApron I would like to respectfully correct you on something. When I freeze shredded zucchini, I measure it in 2 cups for the recipe I use. When I thaw, I do NOT drain the liquid. That liquid was part of the zucchini and it separated. If you drain it, your recipes will not turn out. Love your channel ❤️❤️
The bananas don't need to be fresh to freeze, always buy markdown or reduced bananas take home remove peel and just freeze make great b bread ♥️♥️♥️. Thanks again for then added tips. One question why blanch I don't see the large corporations who freeze food going through this process 🤔 just curious as to why I haven't and wonder if there is a health concern if I've been doing it wrong 🙂
isn't most of this common knowledge though? you buy frozen strawberries and blueberries at a store, frozen spinach etc. why would it be difficult to figure out that you can freeze them at home?
Isn’t it also obvious that you could have refrained from saying anything? I’m sure she is helping tons of people and giving advice that can help people who don’t know how to freeze their own food. If it was obvious to you great. You can go on and leave the video to those that appreciate everything she does.
@@michellepatten7460. That’s right, Knowledge can save your life. People should still know how to do things for themselves. Thank you for saying something!
Another great video K. This is going to sound really weird but I had a dream of you visiting the LDS Temple at Chorley Lancashire and somehow you ended up my house for coffee and cake. We ended up talking food preserving and household organising lol Weird I know 😀
did i see that in the video you don;t need to blanch spinach before freezing? do you just wash them in salt water first? do they need to be dried from water before freezing?
Yikes, did you buy those grocery bags new? If those are used from your groceries then remember how dirty(bacteria) those bags are inside. Your items from the grocery store have been handled by many people. The belt at the cash register is filthy, usually from meat and fish dripping because believe it or not most dont use the bags given in the meat dept. The most common bacteria found in the grocery store is feces 🤮. I worked in a grocery store for 30 years and we saw some of the grossest things. People walking out of the bathroom with poop all over them. People smearing poop all over the walls. People walking along with poop all over their shoes. Can you imagine your things falling on the floor by someone doing the stocking?? or someone using the bathroom, not washing their hands and then pushing the cart? I wash everything when i get home. Just something to consider.

I love to watch your channel! I just bought a FoodSaver at Costco and need suggestions for the best storage bags to use. I noticed the Ziplocks you showed with your FoodSaver. Thank you! Fan from SLC🙂
