I get your point about Saka and Odegaard perhaps being better value than Jesus due to the 0.5m difference but there are so many really good midfield picks and barely any reliable forward picks with favourable fixtures. This makes Jesus a fantastic option imo.

I agree. Also the fact that he is the most expensive forward under haaland and Kane means we can easily move him onto a 7.5-6.5m forward who looks to be performing well after the first few gameweeks, as it looks unsure which forward to go for atm

I think gakpo is almost as nailed as you can get with a Liverpool forward.He is the only player that can play in that position and is so vital towards the way they play.I think Darwin will be used as an impact sub and in europe

False as Nunez was more expensive and was bought in to score most goals and Liverpool are trying to change their system playing Trent inverted, having attacking midfielders meaning it won’t make much sense for gakpo to drop deep, gakpo only dropped deep last season because Liverpool had a trash midfield and Liverpool were not used to playing with a number 9 and nunez was injured and off form. Now nunez actually has some service he can actually bag way more goals provided he can actually finish

Looking at pre season form 4 weeks laters I switched Sterling for Mudryk. I get there are a lot of other good 6.5 midfielder, but I am very happy to take the gamble on Mudryk(I also have Mitoma and Eze).

I think naming some of these players as “avoid” is a bit of a stretch imo. Reece James, sure due to his injury record. But March and Jesus for eg, they’re never an “avoid” they’re both some of the best differential picks to their more popular team mates.

Havertz isn't going to be a rotational pick to play in Saka's position. He's going to be the left sided CAM in the box midfield that replaces Xhaka and should be a nailed starter

The only position you didn’t mention for Havertz was as 8, where he’ll probably end up given the departure of Xhaka. Don’t think he’s a good fpl pick but doubt he’ll cut much into Jesus’ minutes either. Jesus is nailed at 9 when available, started last season hot, and I believe if the best available striker behind the blond cyborg & Kane (bayern, pay up).

I made the same mistake last season backing Jesus in GW1 rather than two of Saka/Martinelli/Odegaard. Think it made more sense then when we had Andreas for a midfield spot. This season it looks like there's no good 4.5m mids. hopefully Nkunku can be the second striker we're looking for

@@FPLFocal Why are people picking odegaard and saka ahead of martinelli. Last season, he always scored better than them as long as Trossard or Jesus played cf. The only reason he eventually got lesser points than the other two is due to the gray patch when nketiah played

Surprising on the Reece James shout, feeling given all the 'noise' around the Chelsea outgoings lately he's been a shining light of potentially motivation for a hopeful Chelsea improvement. I think he really could be a key player for Chelsea this season if he stays fit. If not, his rotation which will be Malo Gusto (more likely given Azpi is now gone) could definitely be one to watch at 4.0M he's excellent value if Reece James goes out injured which means you can move the value of swapping James out (5.5m/1.5m net gain to use elsewhere) could be a great option in improving a midfield option elsewhere perhaps moving from Saka to Rashford.

What are your plans for wildcarding and would your team be different for an early or late wildcard? Would you be able to make 2 drafts? 1 team for a (for example) GW 7,8,9. Wildcard… then a 2nd team for a later wildcard? Would be interesting to see if there’s much difference.

Ferguson's still only 18 so his minutes are probably up in the air, especially with Welbeck and Pedro as options to RDZ. Awesome pick if he nails down a spot at 6m

The reason I don't agree with the last one is the lack of alternative second striker options while there is a plethora of midfield options. Jesus is the best striker to pair with Haaland. Even though he isn't clinical his xG is so high it doesn't matter.

I agree on most players but not on Jesus. Havertz is no competition for him since he is a midfielder and not a striker. He was used at Chelsea out of position but Arteta wont make the same mistake. Plus, by picking Jesus you have a good price point that allows you to switch to Wilson or Watkins any time.

I only have one issue to take with this list, and that's Benjamin White. For his price tag, his xG vs. GS, xGC vs GC, and his minutes played last season I think he's a solid budget option to fill out a defence slot among other more premium picks. Maybe also a strong bench start too.

I can't say I disagree with any of your Avoid calls, and I'll likely be starting the season indeed avoiding them. Mahrez is the only possible exception, but you can really only get him when he's already started a hot streak so that he *is* nailed on. One of the many frustrating things about City players in general.

Mahrez I think will surprise to the upside and is in my team. Gundo is gone. Silva likely to leave. KDB injured. The latter is key as Foden will replace him and Mahrez has no real threat. Pep seems to like him in the league too.

hard disagree on Havertz. That guy is creative, thinks fast and has the technical skill to work exceptionally well with Odegaard specifically. I wouldnt be surprised if Arsenal's primary goal threat switches to the combination of those 2.

He’s definitely someone you should get if you are on a budget but at that point I’d rather spend the extra 0.5m on a much better and proven footballer, Nicolas Jackson is young and not proven and Chelsea and strikers do not go well together

Tempted, going no Salah so really fancy Diaz or Gapko for some Liverpool attack coverage. Think that’s the front three going into the season, but obviously Darwin & Jota are lurking.
