Yep. The Skerry is reassuringly stable, with that wide beam but I aim not to be out in anything over that, that's enough excitement for me.

Thanks Jeff. Those summer Northerlies on the Bay make for "interesting" sailing alright! The Bom seems to underestimate predictions of wind strength for Northerlies.

Thankyou, the Skerry really scoots along alright. I made some removable side seats for the boat and I put a cross piece between them so I can slide from one side to the other. I have subsequently made some lighter simpler seats out of slats of Douglas fir, which work just as well. I recommend seats for a Skerry.

Usually he sleeps, but this day it was a bit choppy and the spray coming over kept him awake. He is good company and good ballast.

@@garyhardy3810 My dog is a tiny Jack Russell female, she weighs dead on 5 kilos, so her ballast worthiness is not so great. Gotta have a dog in your life, I'm 60 and have always had a dog since a child

To be sure, he is great crew. He always turns up, and he doesn't criticise when I make a mistake.

Thankyou. It is a CLC Skerry. It is a great little boat, fun to sail and good to row. I highly recommend the design.

Boat zips along nicely. You are experienced or you would not go out this way. Also I see that you are wary of the end of the boom catching you in the head...prudent indeed
