A nice selection of 1984 insanity, recorded off CHCH 11 in February of 1984.
Retrontario’s primary mission is the preservation, research and exhibition of rare videotape recordings (1970s to 1990s) recorded off of any and all Ontario (and surrounding area) TV channels; footage which would likely be lost if not sought out and preserved digitally. We also hope to create an ongoing oral history of this content through comments left below the videos. Please add to this evolving history, if you know more information pertaining to the clips, fondly remember them or have a modern thought all comments are welcome! For more information on how to help in our mission please visit us at: www.retrontario...

So that burger king commercial she was in,....is that like an international type of commercial? Was that filmed in Canada or the U.S.? I know she's an American.

OMG memories of my childhood growing up in Canada. I've been in the States now for 25 years but still feel nostalgic for those days.

16:36 - Lipton Tea - Teabag voiced by John Stocker. 18:06 - He also did the Superfries voiceover.

Stocker's list of voice credits must be in the 10 thousand range or more. TV commercials, cartoons, and I wouldn't be surprised if he did corporate videos.

I had a “who iiisss that?” moment. And then, oh yeah. That show I watched a lot.

All kinds of supporting characters from SCTV and Wayne & Schuster show up. It doesn’t diminish the parody adverts they did on the shows, but I wonder if they had to sign waivers that they wouldn’t parody the products in the future.

Also, the Ruffles taste-test ad has the most deceptive and hilarious caveat: “Almost two out of three people agreed. Ruffles is the best!” So kind of 50%?

Yeah. Nothing has changed. Same ol' deceptiveness in marketing today with less satisfaction. Cheers.@@jcmartin961

11:05 - Coffee Crisp - Voiceover by Chris Wiggins. I wonder how they got that fountain pen to write legibly on the glossy paper (it was paper, back then) wrapper. Fountain pen ink is water-based, and will bead on non-porous surfaces.

i don't know if i really understand the Anacin commercial... Like, what was under the other 3 boxes?
@OofusTwillip
@OofusTwillip 7 месяцев назад
Non-extra-strength painkillers. For me, the bigger question was, why didn't the guy notice what was on the boxes until they were turned AWAY from him? This logical flaw was in many Anacin commercials.

7:53 - Facettes - This commercial is so dumb, that it was widely mocked at the time. 1) In the real world, everyone calls facial tissues "kleenex". 2) If the guy's so cheap, he should just tell the kid to use toilet paper to blow his nose.
