So to answer your first question in the video yeah Joe Staten came up with the idea and just kinda stuck it in with abunch of people who were in on the joke, surprised it made it into Halo 3 honestly.
Displate is such an awesome company. I have 3 of their Halo ones. Halo 2 Anniversary, Halo 3, and Halo Infinite. I wish they had a Halo 2 Classic. I mean come on they got CE Classic and Anniversary. Didn't know they had the ODST one. I'm gonna have to get that. By the way great video
@Wilson North if you are referring to their Twitch Streams, they have been very busy IRL with making videos and editing. They told me they would return very soon just don't know when.
Glad you recognized Franks controversial "contributions" to Halo 3. I like that he was the only one with the nonhuman forerunner idea and then just ran with it once 343 put him in charge.
i actually prefer the idea of forerunner being nonhuman and humans being the inheritor of the forerunner, and it don't even break the paradoxe of the covenant killing their own gods
I also personally prefer Forerunners not being humans, but the Greg Bear novels still brought it full circle. Humans may have not been Forerunner but humanity was *always* meant to hold the Mantle(or at least be tested for it). I don't like Frank, but for me his choice to make them separate was a good call imo
I don't know how anyone could like the current canon separating humanity and the forerunners, especially how much had to be retconned just to fit the narrative. It's sloppy writing.
as i've been led to understand it, the cortana moments in halo 3 are the gravemind using precursor telepathy to influence John. the gravemind understands that John is the ultimate threat to it's existence, and thus tries to influence John on the conscious and sub-conscious levels to abandon the fight.
the original cortana skull lets you carry over a spartan laser from the level Cortana to the level Halo. that's pretty much it, as far as i recall. MCC shenanigans made it fall to the bottom of the loaded area, but one used to be able to grab the skull, finish the level, and spawn into the level Halo with a spartan laser as one of their two weapons. I've played H3 since 2009.
If I remember correctly MCC Reach forge has individual sniper magazines as extra ammo that have visible bullets that you could use for size measurements possibly.
With the secret skull on Cortana, I think it was meant to just be a prop, but for some reason they used the interactable skull instead. And I believe GeneralHeed made a video about it, it's not that it carries over a weapon, it's that it gives you any random weapon that can spawn on that level (which is usually a Rocket Launcher or a Spartan Laser (I believe) because of what 'weapon' the game counts the skull as.)
The Halo 3 one is quite easy if you ask me. The one sending the cryptic messages to chief is actually the Gravemind through the AI chip link with his brain. The reason is also simple, he just wants to mess with John, as the omnipotent being the Gravemind think he is, he's just playing with his food. Another reason is to demoralize him.
The secret skull on Cortana spawns at the bottom for the MCC, play it on 360 and carry the skull with you through the level into the last mission Halo and Master Chief will spawn with a spartan laser. Don't know why the skull spawns out of bounds for MCC but when my brother and I used to play Halo 3 all the time we always grabbed that skull.
It actually spawns 1 unit above the roof in the reactor room. It then has physics applied to it and it rolls down the roof and out of bounds. It hasn't been fixed because it falls when the level loads and the skull is just a scenery item.
I just replayed Halo CE if you look at the ar in old visual you will see a little compass that points to captain Keyes on truth and reconciliation which you should mention in a future video!
7:12 I remember a video where a grunt announced that he was making fun of spartan lock and spartan locks helmet was being carried by either a brute or an elite I don't remember it was a while ago.
I don't know how Displate's magnets stick to the wall, but if they use those adhesive pads, well...i work in property restoration and I call those 'wall destroyers'
It makes me happy that more and more people are openly calling out flaws in products being advertised by RU-vidrs, but yes the magnets are adhesive rectangles. A good rule of thumb is that if it's a physical product a company is paying RU-vidrs to advertise, it probably wasn't a good enough product to secure enough investment for proper advertising, it's much easier to pay a one time fixed fee to a RU-vidr. Raycons were about equal to $20 earbuds Manscaped had product quality issues Ridge wallet is a fucking chunk of inflexible metal in your pocket And yes Displate, a stylish way to lose your security deposit 😅
10:27 My first thought was that they looked like Guardians. Then you pointed out that they are all one the map called Guardian. Might be a stretch but I think they were early hints at the Guardians. And they do appear elsewhere in the Halo games when a multiplayer map kills you. It's all connected.
Me and my older brother found 2 skulls in the original halo ce Xbox game on legendary in a cave on the 2nd snow mission we only found em once never again and Noone else to my knowledge ever has when we picked em up it made the mission basically impossible to beat and we both beat the game on legendary more times than I can count both solo and coop
@@rb240tuner maybe he and his friend had a mandela effect and they are remembering it wront like they played halo ce on mcc on the clasic graphics set automaticaly alot idk
I love that I can recognize some of the Destiny prototype footage taking place at the academy location on Venus in Destiny 1. It looks like the location design was set in stone early on. I miss that destination.
I really hope that even if they don’t bring a mod front to console for MCC, that they at least use digsite as a way to bring that fan content to all versions of MCC.
I would have loved it if H2 wasn't under such a strict deadline, so it could have been much more fleged out. H2 is already one of if not the best games of the series, imagine how much better it would have been if it came to full fruition
I remember finding a skull on halo 2 on the original Xbox on the mission where you punch the prophet to death, after killing 2 hunters and taking a gondola there’s a skull around one of those island structure things, went through the mission with nothing changed but the next mission there was extra ammo in the carbine ammo reserve
The Cortana communications in halo 3 are not a mystery? It’s quite clearly stated that this is cortana using the gravemind to communicate with master chief. All of that Neuralphysics stuff the flood has going on. This fits with the legendary ending cinematic of halo 2 as well. Not much of a mystery.
Guys you should check out HiddenXperia’s video of how the gravemind “killed” the Master Chief! Also I have a feeling rockets sloth is the secondary channel or vise Versa of HiddenXperia made by the same man.
For future distance measuring in Halo you may reference some old videos from Austin at TheGameTheorists (formerly of ShoddyCast) who does THESCIENCE episodes. He's definitely done some videos that take semi-realistic measurements of distance and height within the Halo games. Might help for future stuff!
It does. The dude was changing people's already established lore. The map is a joke and insult at Frank. Take the A in Frank and replace it with the O from O'Conner. And boom. Marty O'Donnell should be hired again for the next installment.
Edit: at the time of posting me finding the skull I forgot people didn’t find it and I think it’s a 1 in a 1000000000 chance to find or it’s randomly generated in different places
I remember people on HBO back in the day using the model of a character with a known height measurement (i think keyes) to measure everything in Halo CE and how widely out of scale the pillar of autumns levels were to it's cutscene model.
I was high af and identifying that the background music was lacrimosa fels so weird i paused and repeated the same 10 seconds over and over again for like 15 minutes XDD
I kinda like the Johnson is a clone idea, I could see the USNC doing it and not caring morally and also could see Johnson not caring either about being cloned since he would only care about winning the fight/war.
Considering the whole thing about Johnson being a precursor to the Spartans... could there actually just have been two of them running around? Perhaps they did the flash clone replacement trick, but for some reason the clone survived and served concurrently with the original?
I don't but some of the unsolved mysteries, like I doubt the devs working under strict deadlines would take time to put secret codes into games the solving of which takes even more time for fans than it would for the devs to think of
There ARE waypoints in Halo: CE that have metered measurements. The most notable is The Maw, you have a waypoint measuring distance literally the entire time once you’re in the warthog
@@rb240tuner there have been many tumultuous debates over those signs throughout the Halo community over the past decades and in particular over the past few years, and the risks of people losing their mind over it has proven to be pretty high 😆so we started to jokingly say "we don't talk about the j-signs" after a while
Always figured the acenes with Cortana in Halo 3 were through the Domain via The Flood. It'd make sense, tbh, since the Domain may have been broken but it was never really gone, it'd make sense an AI could access it.
Honestly they made the story of Infinite directly tied to novels which if you hadn't read beforehand you'd have absolutely no idea why certain things happen and who certain characters are, apart from also never actually giving an explanation for certain events, I wouldn't be surprised if they went "ah yes the Infinity was nuked and everyone on board has been in fact reduced to atoms" and kill everybody off screen
That’s if he survived reach and got out of the way of the plasma dagger and stole a phantom and somehow got to the pillar of autumn and helped chief fight covenant and flood and after CE disappeared into the shadows and became a head hunter again. That was my personal imagination running wild with What if… Marvel’s what if but halo btw I prefer Puma over Warthog! Grif was under rated by Sarge! I still play Halo Reach the BEST VIDEO GAME EVER!!! My spartan is orange and orange with ODST helmet
i desperately need to know if the green and red lights on most of the base infinite maps mean anything and if they're related to the door pads turning green if you use grapple on them
The two Reach Sangheili words i know for sure are _Re'zush!_ , which is either 'charge!' or 'advance!', and _Awugapu!_ which is either 'throwing grenade!' or just simply 'grenade!'
I would say the map "Epitaph" is honoring dead beings (probably Forerunners) from the past. An epitaph is an inscription about someone's life that is on a tombstone, so perhaps the scrolling text is the life story/highlights/accomplishments completed by notable Forerunners during their lives.
The biggest mystery for me is whether or not they're ever going to add Acrophobia to CE officially. I have MCC on the Xbox One, so I can't backdoor it into the game.
Off topic but I did find something out in Halo 4 that I never seen anywhere else so idk if I’m the first to find out about it (if not whatever but I can’t find anyone else that knows this) but in Halo 4 when you fly the pelican in the mission Shutdown if you boost and hold fire while switching weapons constantly it destroys your pelican. Nothing big but just wanna know if anyone else knows this
the cortana messages are not a mystery. Not any more. With the new lore and an audio book. The gravemind was twisting cortanas messages to the chief using neural physics.
Viewers of this video would do well to watch a video called “we were forerunner” here on youtube that speculates on Frank oconnor roll with the series hahah
