I was really drawn in for the story in Oathsworn but wasn’t as big on the gameplay and I ended up selling my all in pledge. I ended up dropping my pledge for Dante for the same reasons I didn’t like Oathsworn even though the game looked SO cool

Heh for me oathsworn was a bit of a let down to the point where I was close to swearing off boss battler games altogether. For me the buggiest issue with oathsworn was character growth felt shallow/ nonexistent. From what I’ve read online , Dante seems to have more interesting character growth than oathsworn , so I took a chance on Dante. If , IF Dante turns out to be another disappointment like oathsworn then I think I have to swear off boss battlers for some time . Don’t disappoint Dante….

Recently completed Oathsworn campaign and that was the best gaming experience I've ever had. Both the story and encounter modes were amazing. Glad I only got the standee edition since it was easy to recoup most of the cost; nearly 100 hours of gameplay for $30. I do need to take a break from these epic campaigns though.

@@1AngelAlita It's not for everybody. If by "game" you mean it has a clear winner/loser mechanism where you go through the levels or rounds and at the clear end someone is clearly the victor in a zero sum game, then, no, you would probably not like Mythwind. Mythwind is more like an open ended sandbox kind of thing, like a medieval fantasy like Sim City in board game form. You are kind of building a village. You have different characters, all of which have completely different modes of operating and building (a hunter, a shop keeper, a farmer, etc...) It's sort of economic. It's sort of adventure. There isn't really a clear ending point. It's certainly not an Ameritrash dice chucker or a hugely strategic Euro or what have you. It's sort of unique. Personally, it's what I thought Lands of Galzyr was suppose to be when I bought it. I hated Galzyr. Gave it to a friend of mine, but Mythwind I love. There's a reason it's called a "cozy" game. I think you either love it or hate it, and that's okay.

I didn't hate Galzyr but it definitely got boring fast. Now you got me thinking about giving Mythwind a second look although it still doesn't seem my type of game.

@@LeeKenshin7 I think Galzyr being an app hybrid really soured me out of the box. I play games to get away from screens due to vision problems and that just didn't work for me. I didn't realize that when I bought it

I know everyone has different tastes, but I felt Mythwind was - I don't use the term often - awful. It really, really needed something to make me feel like I was playing for a purpose. Not even necessarily a win-loss scenario (though it would be nice to actually feel like I can lose the game, if not win it...). If you want to feel challenged in any way - even just a little, tiny way - that game does not give you anything close to that feeling. it just... is, which I guess is fine for some people. Not why I play board games, personally.

Nice! I really appreciate this late-pledge summary. I looked at several of these games during their campaigns, and my wallet is happy to say I still am going to pass. Phew. Also, really cool seeing your game room in a more expansive view. Love your setup!

Lots of good games in this list! Arydia, Mythwind (new gameplay as I already own and love the game from the first campaign) and Spirit Fire are the ones I've backed. I've looked into several of the others as well though but choices have to be made haha. I do feel a little bad for people that got excited over a game through this video and then were disappointed when they found out that several of these actually don't take late pledges anymore. 😅 Perhaps they still did when the video was made (there's no way to entirely prevent that of course when a video is filmed in advance), or otherwise it's the same confusion I've seen in many campaigns where the PM was still open for backers to change their shipping address for example, but it was closed for new late pledges. That could be more clear on many campaigns. Often there is even still a 'late pledge here!' button of some sorts after late pledges have closed..

Arydia was one I was interested in for a long time. However, they took so long and had so many delays that eventually campaign games started arriving at my door and I realized didn't need another one. If their box art matched their board and overall tone to the game while you played it I would be all in. However, there is a dissonance there that feels very art styling box vs very basic board presentation. O'Neb might get me on Spirt Fire... I resisted because I still don't know what the game is. But it is O'Neb... Maybe I will get the base game.. I dunno.

Quod heroes really looks like my kind of game but it's just so expensive after shipping and taxes. When i think of all the other games i could buy for that money i just can't get myself to click that pledge button

I ended up late pledging this and I’m looking forward to it, but yes it was a bit pricey for what it is and the creator is lacking updates and communication. It’s also almost a year late from estimated fulfillment and it hasn’t hit the printer yet at the factory.

Sad that you loose the monopoly style “dead eyed capitalist” in FCM. The marketing also feels weird…kind of like when they advertised “capital themed makeup” before the hunger games movie…
