Alarm, daily. As you said it doesn't disturb others and is so gentle. Airtag notifications (I tend to forget my iPad or keys in meeting rooms). Phone calls when out and about. I don't even take my phone out of my pocket anymore (in quiet places - because, customers..)
Thanks Andy! Indeed it is - I normally get my phone out for the torch as it's easier to shine away from you than holding your wrist at 180 degrees lol Appreciated!
Great Vid as always mate, Couple of questions. How many of these work on the Normal Apple Watch. Also, can you do a video on the Home Automation on what you use it for? Lastly, you mentioned you open doors in your house with Home automation. WTAF (I need this in my life can you tell me how)
Hey bud! You can do quite a lot of these on there to be fair! Still working on putting a home automation video together! But will hopefully make one soon :) Check out the Yale Conexis L1 lock. 👍🏼
The primary thing the Ultra has over the normal Apple Watch is the battery life. There's no way around it. He also mentioned not carrying the phone. That's another task that can't be done on the normal watch.
I like the extra battery life and this is the first watch that has a SIM, the fall protection, if I fall off a ladder or crash my bike is reassuring. I like the red watch face.
Hi Pete, awesome vid. I've bought an ultra 9 weeks ago and haven't taken it off since. You actually use it like I do. One question though: what do you use to open your garage door? I'd like to have that in my system.
I bought a cheap meross (homekit compatible) garage door opener from Amazon and wired it into my garage door opener. It also integrates with Home Assistant, so then I can either use the Meross or Home Assistant apps to control it :)
Yep. Others don’t have the battery life to last. Or too big and heavy (galaxy watch 5 pro) The ultra is surprisingly light given its size. Regular Apple Watch and pixel need me to charge them every single day
@@PeteMatheson So the Samsung watch 5 Pro is heavier and bigger than the Ultra 🤔? Dude I'm going to call you out on that.. That's ridiculous. So over these flip flop one week it's the ultra next week it'll be the Garmin. Anything for content.
I surf daily so it was a no brainer for me here in SoCal. I also love the extra battery life and having almost everything that's on my iPhone on my wrist. I was never a smart watch guy until I saw the Ultra and it changed my mind.
Hey Pete. Which Tesla unlock app are you using? I feel like Tesla had an Apple Watch app a couple years ago, but it stopped being supported. Would love to have that feature on my watch.
I love my Apple Ultra. I use the multisport mode for triathlons. My family can track me when the race's tracking isn't as accurate. I appreciate these tips to help me get more out of my watch!
Most of these things Apple Watch Series 8 is also capable of. The only significant difference is just the batter life of the Ultra and maybe the Action Button. Other than that, it’s the same for non-hikers/swimmers, etc.
I do all the same things with my Apple Watch 7, except sleeping because that’s when I charge it. The alarm when it’s on the charger is pretty ok, I saved a lot of money this way 😊
Thanks James! I'm playing around with end screens at the moment. RU-vid wants people to watch all of the video, but it's sometimes a bit too abrupt like you say!
0:34 how did you get it to go into that sleep mode where it’s just showing the time and dim? When I’m wearing my watch to bed and the alarm is set for my bedtime it’s just my normal watch face?
Mine does it automatically when I set a wake up time in the alarm settings. But you can manually do that by tapping the moon icon (do not disturb) and choose sleep 👍🏼
You have to setup the sleep focus. Once the sleep focus is Setup, have the watch mirror the iPhone so when the iPhone goes into sleep focus then the watch does also. Do note if you have a Apple Watch series 8+ you won’t be able to track your wrist temperature unless the watch is in sleep focus.
This is just using the native home assistant app, you can then add certain buttons / controls via Home Assistant. Home Assistant itself then integrates with all of the devices, so rather than having to open 12 different apps, I can do it all from one place.
Thanks for the upload Pete,I’ve literally had my ultra a couple of days and your tips have been a great start for my journey.Great quality video and very well presented, cheers 👍
Excuse is not same as use like pinging missplaced iPhone and not ever missing any call…notifying you when you left your iPhone or it’s being stolen…paired with airpods pro it’s a great walking and exercise companion without a phone…and so much more….USE not Excuse…it’s just that it’s pricey for many
@@PSy84 You know you can do the exact same stuff with an older Apple Watch for 1/8 of the price? Or a new Apple Watch 1/3 of the price? Or any Xiaomi smartband for 1/20 of the price? Yeah, no, it's finding a justification for something you don't need, unless you get everything with Daddy money, then by all means, go nuts!!
Cap I’m telling you don’t judge till you see it person that series 8 look just like all the rest this right just say I’ma boss everytime you put it own
