the nice thing about the mommy and parent community is you don't really have to say tmi! we're here to learn and ts nice to have someone talk about these things! Thank you!
As an auntie not having children, I'll be coming back to your channel over and over again. Thank you for this, I'm always trying to look out for mom's self care and mental health. And I want to be supportive of moms before and after the baby is here. And thank you for the things that I can put in care packages! By watching this, I can give my cousins who are moms/future moms the breaks they need when I'm called to. There's no manual when it comes to being a parent, and this is the closest thing to it, thank you! I really wish I had your videos in my early 20's when I first started being an auntie, because I wasn't sure how to help. With your videos by my side, I can just look and find the answers I'm looking for.
If you have the budget for it get a bidet toilet seat. One that will warm the water. Not having to mess with the peri bottle was really nice. I preferred the dermoplast to the tucks pads, but I know a lot of people use both.
My baby girl is 1 month old today. My 2 cousins are due within the next 2 months, so I've been taking notes for them. 100 percent agree on all of this, especially the changing pads! I suggest getting multiple. Seems excessive, but they're so convenient. We have a few of them, a couple for each area we spend a lot of time, like the couch downstairs and the bed upstairs (honestly haven't used the changing station in the nursery once). also, what's been very useful is having diaper carriers stocked (diapers, diaper cream, wipes, a couple clean onesies) along side the changing pads.
Bought almost everything you suggested mostly for the mom section as I was so lost on what I really might need but want to be prepared for when I get home thank you for making this helpful video.
Thanks for the video. Your suggestions are helpful. I birthed my first nearly 11 years ago and and am only now having my second so I feel as if I need to relearn everything. My only negative is that so much of what you’re suggesting is disposable. We only have one planet my fellow mama. We should try to keep it clean for our children and their children. I do still appreciate the video though. ❤
Thank you so much! I am going to have my second baby, but still you gave so many good information! Thank you for sharing! ❤ I hope you have a great time with your baby! ❤️❤️
Ditto on the VAVA light! My older kids all wanted their own after they saw it and they get used frequently. Great for early morning reading time in winter, too. Magnesium is the best stool softener option, honestly. It draws water into the bowls naturally. Safest option. One thing I'd add is disposable or washable nursing pads. Lots.
The DockATot Deluxe+ is not considered safe by the CPSC and is no longer allowed to be sold within the US. You should consider updating this video to remove that recommendation.
Thank you for sharing this video! I've been watching so many newborn/postpartum videos just to make sure I have everything I need! Plus items that I didn't think would be helpful for our little girl (33 weeks pregnant yay!) The little socks you suggested look promising considering I'm going to have a winter baby!
thank you for the helpful video! I was wondering, how much of the post partum healing products do you just buy yourself and is there anything that you put on your baby shower registry? (obviously trying to save as much money as possible).

I've seen tens of videos like this and while many of them are repetitive what I'm most interested are in depth comparisons of flagship products on the market (such as dockatot vs snuggle me). Making short videos comparing them would be useful, people search for such comparisons but they're usually lost in videos like this one. :)
They had me continue to nurse because my baby was getting colostrum (this usually comes before the milk and is super good for the baby) otherwise they gave me a few things of newborn formula that we fed her through a syringe after every nursing session to make sure she was getting enough food. Once my milk came in we stopped the formula.
Mom of 2! I would highly recommend pumping towards the end of pregnancy to collect colostrum in syringes to freeze. (this is also a great natural way to induce labor) Then you can supplement with your own colostrum until your milk comes in. Newborns inherently don’t need as much milk the first 2-3 days. God designed us so perfectly to work together.
My daughter slept in it and she's fine. I laid her on her back until she started rolling herself on her stomach and then I stopped using it. The Dock A Tot is a life saver! My baby was able to sleep all night on it at 2 months. Without it she woke up every hour!!!
@Kawaii Franki okay, but just because your daughter was fine doesn't mean it's safe. A lot of babies have suffocated in them, hence why the companies started putting disclaimers on them about it not being safe. You can do what you want with your kids, but I won't be risking it, and encouraging other people to use them for sleep when they've been actively warned by the company not to is not okay.
Very informative video about what Mom's actually need thank you for being honest and sharing links! Good pregnancy and postpartum underwear and bras are so hard to find!
Guest room….sure. I’m trying to figure out what are the minimal space consumers for baby and me in a one and a half bedroom apartment with two other adults (one of which is disabled) 😂
This was super helpful! The link to the postpartum high waisted undies is broken, they sound amazing tho! You don’t happen to remember the name do you?
I had a 4 degree year too, also my inner labia ripped into pieces with chunks ripping out all the way up to my clitoris. Never healed. I had no idea that could even happen. I was stitched up but they fell out the next day, and wasn’t stitched back up.
Regardless of what you do with your life, living is so much work and you cannot avoid suffering. Don't be fearful of achieving something every single one of your female ancestors achieved, without modern medicine or online guidance.
Why are you scared? And yes, being a parent isn’t easy. Which is why people ought to wait until they’re emotionally and mentally prepared to be parents. You have a whole person inside of you. Do your best to prepare. The more you know, the better you will be.
The good far outweighs the bad! You can do this even if there are hard moments. Having a child is a miracle and such a blessing. All the best to you lovely.
Just found this and I'm due in 8 weeks. I didn't know nipple shields existed before this, thank you so much! :) I also want to say - LOVE your sweater!! Where is it from? :)
Aww so glad it was helpful!! I only used mine for a few days but it was the break I needed to let myself heal a little. Good luck with everything, it’s the most amazing thing.
Dock_Tot it should be forbidden for so much marketing (like many others items) and snugle me so many babies die since parents cant watch them the whole night and they dont even make sounds to get u awake. So much evidence data about this but again...most of parents are just learning from youtube videos and expending more time in researching about their new iphone than this super important for the newborns. RIP to many babies for this.Lets never stay silence ablut this..we are all victims of death marketing of death and separation between babies and parents speceally moms with devasted consecuences only seen in teenage and adulthood. Wishing to all the awakening for saving our poor humanity in this times🔥
I never was recommending that the Doc a tot should be used for sleeping. Just simply a place for the baby to lay and stretch out while I’m next to them.
People need to read the instructions. The dock_tot is not suppose to be used for sleeping. Many friends of mine have this and had zero problems because they use it the way is suppose to be. JUST READ PEOPLE, IS NOT THAT HARD.
What was the squirty bottle thing you didn't explain what it was was that a douche for constipation? Also what was the cool pads are they for genitals? Sorry for all the questions I don't understand what a lot of those were
The bottle is called a peri bottle and you use it to clean yourself after using the bathroom because you're not supposed to wipe for a while! The pads are for down there as well to help with healing.
Isnthere a link to the nail file? I need to order for a shower TODAY- and this item is great- because it KILLS me when i see newborns hands covered b/c mom is worried the baby will scratch itself (but benefits of hands free far outweighs)
They do, babies lose heat from the body much more quickly than toddlers.. in Asia, even if the weather is warm, some cotton socks will be covering the babies' feet and even some cotton mittens and beanie.. and if the weather is cold you definitely need some layers !!
I know mamas mean well.. but can we normalize that "need" and "must-haves" is relative? It is SO disheartening to see how many "MUST-HAVES" videos are out there for newborns. And the lists are endless ☠️ plus, every baby/mama is different so how can you call it "must-haves" when not every mama/baby MUST have it!? I watch one of Margaret Matheny's videos and all the overconsumption/overspending subsides.
Why is dock a tot on here as a recommendation? Seriously! Please… who can I follow on RU-vid that actually knows what they’re saying and isn’t just here to get a million clicks?
This video was posted over two years ago. At the time, this was not considered unsafe for babies to use. I do not have it linked in the description anymore and I’m not sure you can even buy them!
Aw thank you!! I am so excited to see Remi as a big sister. We have alot of neutral clothes from Remi so we should be okay for the first bit! haha until Mom can place a zara order for boy clothes if needed haha
