Considering it was designed as a Battle Royale you don't need a scoreboard for that, just your squad stats (at least from the few I've cared to watch, can't stand the crap myself).
How could we go from Battliefield 1s stunning visuals and fantastic details to completely clean and unmarked boring walls and streets without any character
@@uyso6045 you can still play runscape doesn't mean the game isn't dead for the absolute majority of people, eventually the gaming industry and the vast majority of players will move on and we're already seeing that process as we speak. battlefield is not even close to being as relevant as it was in the grand picture of gaming and even fps games nowadays.
@@uyso6045 It means that this is probably the last battlefield game we ever gonna get after EA is done with Dice (since you know... they have a history of killing studios and franchises that don't preform well)
This is probably the most comprehensive review I've seen for Battlefield 2042. This comes from a place of true passion and love for the series as a long time fan. Respect.
I agree. I'd also say that PORTAL could have been a free-to-play game with "seasons" that were based upon different games. For instance, Season 1 could have been BF1941 (or even WW2 with BF1942 and BFV). Each season could have been a different game.
it meant i found battle bit.. its playtests remind me of bf2 but with 256 players, destructible terrain and more realistic gun handling.. its the alternate universe BF where they went with more realism, straddling the middle ground between arcade and milsim with proximity chat, bandaging and the ability to drag downed players.. if you can get over the low poly gfx and get in on the sat play tests i highly recommend it
Nailed it. We are a BF clan dating back to '42. We have played pretty much every night since it was launched. It is heart-breaking to see how they have driven this franchise face first into the ground. If we were to write a review and list the problems and what we want to see in the game it would look like this. Hope the message gets out.
Mark my words, this is the final nail in the coffin for the BF franchise. Over promising and under delivering by such a large margin - few will ever trust DICE/EA with another BF title.
This might surprise you but EA didn't put much money into developing the game, and it made its money back the day pre orders launched. These aren't game developers. They are micro transaction and marketing specialists that make key decisions now. This isn't 2004 where all you had to do was make a fun game. Now you can make a shit game but the gamers will still play it because they get addicted to unlocking cosmetics or whatever to dress up their avatar.
@@LarryCuckman but it's not the 30 year old men that blindly buy every battlefield game because "man I'm excited, wow nostalgia". Trust me when a game franchise goes on for more than a decade these stuff will happen. Halo community being the biggest offender of this, that I know of.
you say that but people say that about other ea games all the time and they show up in droves the next year. HC BF fans will show because they want the next one to be good, im the same way with cod.
DICE are the new Bioware; merely a brand name used by EA to push product, when the people who made the company and the games great have all long since departed. Just another name on a tombstone in the EA graveyard. Thanks, EA.
Completely agree. Played for free last weekend and uninstalled after 2 hours. This game does not feel like BF. I could not believe how bad the maps are designed; bland, uninteresting, boring, low effort are words that come to mind.
@@TiberiumPie imagine being one of the guys who pre-ordered, I feel like a dumbass now because I was the one saying we should give it a chance. Boy was I pissed when it launched
BF1 was so incredibly cinematic and graphically advanced for its time, how the hell is this game failing so horribly a whole game after that one not even gameplay wise but even in simple things like graphics and animation quality?
And don’t forget they remove the class system for stupid specialist to do a fortnite they are so stupid i was so excited to see another battlefield game but nope.. they have crushed it by there greed corrupted stupidity i want to strapped the people that work in EA and dice in front of the screen and forced them to watch all the stupidities things they did to there games until they break
@@paulallen2680 yes good things can happen under capitalism but not necessarily *because* of capitalism. You can have productive industries that are run democratically rather than top-down corporations like with capitalism
This might be the best real analysis of BATTLEFIELD 2042 that I've seen. I don't know if I have ever been more disappointed in a game than I've been with BF2042.
I would add one to two more issues that I've noticed: 1.) This game alienated most new and casual players. This leaves just the hardcore players. Consequently, newer and casual players are disenfranchised because they enter games in which the skill gap is MASSIVE. A casual gamer who buys the game (even at a discount) will be blown away by the hardcore players who are left playing it. 2.) Moreover, there is a problem with cross-platform cheating. That is, the PC cheating community are still playing. In addition to having a mouse/keyboard advantage over console players, console players now have to concern themselves with the plethora of PC cheaters too. The only way to counter this is to OPT-OUT completely of cross-platform play. There is no option for CONSOLE ONLY cross-platform play.
1 hour of cold and brutal truth... excellent work bro. bf2042 is a big disappointment. EA and DICE may have put a end in the franchise. Harsh days will come.
it wouldn't be the first. I'm a fan of the C&C franchise, and this is a disturbing trend similar to how EA killed that series too. Command & Conquer was *the* RTS game which started the whole genre of resource-collecting and base-building games. They had spinoffs like Red Alert and Generals, and all these games were beloved by the fans, including me. Then EA buys the studio who made these games - Westwood - and comes out with C&C3 and Red Alert 3. C&C3 is good, and the expansion Kane's Wrath is even better. RA3, however, is comparable in reception and quality to BFV. Then they release a C&C mobile game. Finally, they come out with C&C4 Tiberium Twilight. This game was so bad, I kid you not, the entire C&C fanbase collectively agrees that this game does not exist. Mention or ask about it and we'll all say "what game? The series ended with Kane's Wrath!" Suffice to say, this game completely destroyed the C&C formula, killed the atmosphere, and ruined the story. Anyways, what was I talking about? Oh yeah, anyways the series ended with Kane's Wrath and it kinda just ended there. Ok, in all seriousness, C&C4 didn't kill the series, it butchered it in front of its wife and kids and dismembered it. I have a feeling BF, another franchise I love and played since 1942, will also be disgraced. The devs of C&C refused to bend to EA's will and add microtransactions to their game and so EA cancelled it. B sold out to them, dooming themselves not to a brutal death, but a slow and painful one.
@@punic4045 dude I love playing and watching C&C Generals Zero hour from time to time and seeing how they completely dumped the franchise, and still to this day about 20 YEARS LATER they still have active communities that have put their life's work into trying to get the games to work with almost no dev tools, it's very very sad
Way too accurate i would say. as a long time bf fanboy bf 2042 makes me just sad. i REALLY wanted this to be a success, but the amount of afford EA took in to the opposite just breaks my neck. Personal i don't like to play "old games" but i really consider to delete bf 2042 and just start playing bf4 again.
jumped back into bf4 after years, so much fun but the 2-3 people every game going 60-0 in a heli/tank is super annoying, need like 4 engineers working together to shut down a tank that is back a minute later. getting spotted in the bushes 200m away with thermal optics every time
@@ApexOfThrottle full of cheaters that's why, but still playable and still gives me lots of fun, so I'm gonna stick with BF4, this one is far from being battlefield, more like those games for the kids
BF1 really was the apex for me. The graphics, the atmosphere, the maps, the amount of guns, the way they handled. It is a great game that I'll continue playing.
Absolutely, and I’m so happy the lobbies have filled back up cause I remember like 5-6 months after BF5, trying to find a NA lobby in Bf1 was quite hard. Then I watched as more and more people realized how garbage BF5 was, and start filling in the Bf1 lobbies again. I expected this to happen again with the release of this game but it seems every one realized what a dumpster fire this game was within a week or two and the lobbies in Bf1 are still poppin!
Umm, BF1 was the first Battlefield whee they made vehicles pick ups, like in Battlefront. (But my opinion is irrelevant as the only Battlefields I play are BF1942 and Forgotten Hope 2). - Adûnâi
Very professional review. I must say I can just agree with all your points. It's astonishing how much you veterans and experienced BF players actually notice what is wrong and what is not. Very nice review and good video.
I can’t believe I have just sat through an one hour review for a video game. Thanks Gravity, this is a great piece of work. I thankfully didn’t buy 2042 after playing the Beta. After this video I’m not angry anymore just sad now. Thanks DICE.
I will never understand why DICE hired a composer known for works that fit beautifully with high stakes dramas and psychological horrors (Chernobyl and Joker) and hired her for this game. She has such a distinct style I'll never understand why they thought it'd fit something like this. It would work if there was a campaign set within this quite dark and depressing world but it definitely does not fit with the pseudo-fortnite specialists.
I feel the same way, she's a talented composer and I do like the way she wanted to work that feeling of edge and anxiety and darkness that is "present" in the "lore" but it doesn't match the rest of the game, and the lack of more 'classical' styled music is the fault of management. She would have killed it in a post apocalyptic gritty and dark campaign.
@@Danyaveltan You can tell she was briefed to make music based on the snippets of story that they have and then they had no idea what to do with the music she had made.
I too, am a Battlefield veteran of nearly 20 years, and I gotta say I completely agree with each and every point you made. My complaints EXACTLY! Let alone the fact that if I play the "Engineer", I must choose between a torch and a recoiless. WTF?! So I can either repair or destroy a vehicle SLOWLY, with the torch, or I can try to destroy enemy vehicles with the recoiless. Talk about neutering what was left of the "engineer" class. It can be fun to play with friends, but this game AINT Battlefield. Period.
I was hoping to have the very few remaining buddies I’ve got over the years jump back in to play with me. It’s beyond disappointing 2042 was so bad, we lasted less than a month.
Battlefield 1 has been one of the best purchase decisions I have made of any kind. I did not, have not and will not regret spending on ultimate edition of Battlefield 1. The game is so refined in every aspect that I can hop back in any time and have awesome experience every single time! Glad I didn't buy this one! This was a good review, you earned my subscription!

When they announced no campaign I was certain it was a good thing so they could allocate and centralize their focus and have a strong and solid multiplayer. Boy I wish that was true. I felt like making 2042 and pleasing the fanbase should have been genuinely easy. They must have known what we wanted , right?!?
No they spent all of their time and resources coming up with the best way to set it up for microtransactions. Just like every other fucking game nowadays. If the game was free I'd understand. But it's 60 dollars
If they bring the phantom projects back, that’s be great. Special dog tags, phantom bow (minus the tedious treasure hunt for the elevator), and camos. I want it all back
They did know why we wanted but capitalism without values and morals gs corrupted our country Raise your children well and our kids’ kids generation might have it as good as our grandparents (circa 1950s) did.
I also find that the way air vehicles get destroyed is extremely uncinematic, it blows up and then turns into a weightless shell of the vehicle while wildly spinning until it hits the ground and disappears. Bf1 was perfect, the crashing planes would be set aflame while barreling into the ground. I remember seeing planes crashing into the dirt while pushing an objective, smoke billowing into the sky but now i just see an ugly grey helicopter with a completely different center of gravity than it should aimlessly wobble until it is gone. Disappointing. I do find the gameplay fun but there is so much lost potential.
That’s what I was saying too like comparing the destruction and destroyed aircrafts and land vehicles and boats which I wish there was in 2042 which is strange but battlefield 2042’s vehicle destruction looks so bland compared to bf4’s hell it can even be more worse than gta v’s where the helicopter just loses its tail and doors only and turns all black without the rotors than look at 2042’s oh boy…
The sad thing is, this could’ve been the ultimate battlefield, I don’t think this is a bad game but EA made this game sound like every battlefield players dream except it’s not

I've been supporting COD and BF for years! This is the first time ever, I DOD NOT PURCHASE A COD or BF game. And in the same year! That speaks immensely about the [wrong] direction these franchise's have taken their games in. Apparently I'm not the only one that feels this way.
@Frigo Pie dude the one I'm talking about is the one that released in the same year as Vanguard and BF2042 The one you're talking about is the one that released the year before
I think one of the main thing that annoys me about BF2042 is if youre gonnna have operators why not have specific operators for the Russians and Americans
I am VERY aware that I said Michael K. Brown instead of Michael K Williams. I think i had Sterling K Brown on the brain when I was recording and It slipped through the proofs. My bad.
Your conclusion in the end with the BF5 Devastation theme really hit the spot. Brought a tear to my eye on how bad this game was made. And not even a single sorry from EA or DICE. Mind boggling.
Why would EA or Dice be sorry? They made bank on 2042. To then it's a massive success, and they know you'll be pre ordering battlefield 6 because gamers lack self control.
@@Edmundostudios bf3 was like 5 years ahead of every shooter at the time in terms of graphics and animation, plus destuction on top of that. Also i believe the map design peaked with bf3 and dice somehow couldnt replicate it since.
@@s_for_short2400 The graphics and Animations sure but destruction in BC2 has always been best. You could level entire buildings in that game and leave a lot of map destroyed. BF3 was much more limited.
@@Edmundostudios true, didnt mean bf3 had better destruction, but that it was something on top of graphics and animations that other games didnt have. But i will say bc2s destruction while visually impressive, often ruined maps by removing too much cover.
@@Edmundostudios That was done because people quickly realized that destruction was very overpowered. But that was due to the design layout, not really because of destruction in my mind. So they took the easy way out and focused more on infantry. BF1 is already a meatgrinder, so you can decide for yourself whether that was a valiant trade off or not, but Operation Metro is still a terrible map.
Incredible review. I agree with every point. Even if Dice had an extra five years to make this game, the underlying design of nearly every system is wrong. I wanted to love this game so badly. My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined.
Great honest review! I always picture the marketing team thinking " Hey, you know all those trendy games? add em all to the game, just do it, doesn't matter if it doesn't work or make sense" Then the people in charge were thinking copying those games = copying their profits. And lastly the true creators and developers of the franchise just get screwed over with deadlines and adding things that don't belong.
I mean it's also because the old DICE left during the period of 1 and V. The new guys have no idea what makes a good Battlefield game, some are even from Respawn which explains the apex-like vibe it gives off. 2042 was also a scrapped Battle Royale game, hence why maps feel too big and plain.
@@fiercelypolygons3696 that does explain a lot .. the vibes are different and the map is built for battle royal. The new direction has pushed all the hardcore fana onto other great titles like sandstorm insurgency and hell let loose.
A friend of mine on EA's marketing team said they had a meeting 8 months prior to launch, where the execs pretty much grabbed the dev team lead by his head and CRANKED it towards a picture of apex and aaid "do this" The dude straight up told about the operator abilities several weeks before the initial reveal, and nobody believed him lol. Fuck man, Battlefield is dead, isnt it?
The crazy part for me is the absolute reversal starting after BF3, my all time favorite. Sure it was a mess in the beginning as with most launches, but in the end, we all had a platform to build communities, dedicated severs, end of round statistics, and an intuitive loadout management system. They had the template and foundation to continue building something truly incredible. Just imagine what could have been with 2042 had they stuck to the design philosophies of BF3 and just built from that.
@@watchmen617 Just imagine "dieselpunk 2142 inspired" expansion for BF1. Titan mode with interwar prototypes and fictional flying battlestations... Something like BF1 married to Jakub Różalski's 1920+ paintings.
This is a genuinely brilliant review. I love your deep and specific breakdowns of every aspect that just doesnt sit well for you, showing a level of "expertise" on the subject without being preachy or elitist. You know what you want, and you know what a battlefield really should be to be successful. Good stuff
This game looks like it really lacked focus during development, even after striping the single player mode (Which I wouldn't mind myself). You know a brand is having an identity crisis when even the marketing comes off as incomprehensible and schizophrenic. Dice needs to stop chasing trends and stick to what they did best. Thanks for the honest review, I'll be sure to steer clear of this game. Seems like the series has been taking a nose dive since BF1.
I cant believe that a game realeased in 2011 (Bf3) looks better and feels better than a recent game made by 3 or 5 studios, this is incredible, BF for me is Dead
This could've been the great comeback of the battlefield series... I learned how to build my own PC back in the day when I seen Battlefield 1942 was only on PC... played every game since and this game is a slap in the face to not only new players, but especially us battlefield veterans.
As someone who has BF2 as the epitome of what BF should be. I subscribed to you just based on the review. Absolutely spot on and I appreciate you not holding back.

You know what could’ve helped flesh out the world a bit? Bring back Operations mode and have cutscenes before the games like BF1. Operations mode was not only the best game mode in BF1, it’s got to be my favorite game mode in any FPS, and for no apparent reason Dice threw their only recent gameplay innovation straight in the trash.
There is no way this game can be saved somehow, just scrap it entirely and start anew (who the fuck even asked for Portal if the base game is not existant?) same goes for Cyberpunk, Security Breach and many more recent releases
I've watched a lot of reviews following the release of 2042, this is by far and away the most comprehensive video I have seen to date. It saddens me to see this, as I too have been playing since the beginning and had so many fun and exciting hours of gameplay. Not quite sure what Is going on at the helm but changes desperately need to be made...before we see the end of Battlefield. Great video man albeit for all the wrong reasons. This should be watched by everyone involved in the game at Dice/EA.
As a 20 year veteran of BF myself, I find myself agreeing with much of the criticisms of our video. It is a real shame that we came from masterpieces like BF4 and BF3 to this game that bears little resemblance to its predecessors. Thanks for the well thought out and in my opinion brutally truthful critique. I look forward to viewing more of your videos.
I was hoping this game was going to be the one that brought all my friends together like the older titles did. To say I’m disappointed is an understatement. It’s pretty insulting, honestly. Great video.
And not just friends but my favorite battlefield tubers collaborating. Remember when lvl cap, matimo, Jack frags, and xfactor would do squad up thing where they worked together to win games like dude that was some of my favorite things to watch

I really appreciate this review. I wish the bigger BF youtubers would deliver a review as critical as this one. Truly unacceptable that they would deliver games like this time and time again.
Fr levelcap specifically is way too nice to this game. He could also just be incredibly open minded but I thought out of everyone he would give it the most hate. His review was pretty balanced and he did acknowledge most of people’s concerns. But he still seemed to give it way more credit than it deserves. It’s not even the bugs that bother me it’s honestly to be expected like it or not but I don’t think it even has the potential to be a good game especially the main game because of all the changes to the tried and true formula. Portal seems promising but even then I’d rather play their older titles. The specialist and lack of a scoreboard completely ruin the game for me. I’m having a ton of fun with BF4 tho.
It's somewhat reassuring to know I'm not the only one here. This game isn't just bad. It's the end of the series. The leaks now are pointing at small, squad based hero shooter for the next entry. Fuck this series. I love battlefield. Saying that hurts, but this isn't battlefield. This is a pile of shit. The game is flawed before the bugs and poor decisions to remove voip and all chat. The game is fundamentally broken. Specialists don't belong. Maps are shit. Squads are poorly handled shit. The only fun I had was in breaking the game via climbing skyscrapers in a hovercraft. Out of 17 hours, I maybe had a full 5 minutes of fun. I really tried to just shut up and enjoy this game. I can't.
SAME HERE. Same here. BF is dead :( I share all your sentiments. I really tried to enjoy this game... but the maps really are shit. Like, they're so big, the action feels more sparse than 32v32 maps of old. And just the lacking of classic tactical features like corner-peeking and highly detailed movement, sucks. Also no scoreboard FML. Have you found any games that fill the void? I've been back on BFV but even that one I don't enjoy nearly as much as BF3+4. Cheers lol
I feel you man. This is a complete and honest review. As a long time batlefield fan i myself am also shocked about the design and gameplay choices they made. Feels like a big step back. I think its not even worth saying this has potential.
It's not a step back. It's a giant leap all the way back to the starting line, and after that another step back. With this pathetic entry, DICE took everything that made people fall in love with battlefield, and replaced it with either an industry trend chasing mechanic that completely destroys the gameplay loop of battlefield of more bugs that make the game unplayable
Wow It’s not too often I find a channel that has BF2 content! I haven’t even finished the video but you’ve earned a sub just for that. It was the first Battlefield title I had ever played.
Thank you for your honest review. I felt like I was going crazy hearing my friends try to defend this game. I’m not having fun playing it so much so that I reinstalled Battlefield 1 for a true immersive and gritty time. I uninstalled BF2042 it’s not even Battlefield I legit feel like I’m playing Call of Duty and that’s not why I played BF games. BF games were always about working with your squad and overall team to win the match…BF 2042 has none of that everyone is just off doing their own thing. There is absolutely zero immersion, and that one line “well well well that was fun” it’s so out of place and stupid.
Battlefield was never about working with your squad and you can do good without with them and that's kinda pathetic you play a video game for immersion 😂
With this quality and honest review of BF2042. I'm really surprised that you only have a thousand of subs. This review > LevelClown's review. Thanks for the honesty and quality of review.
Almost cried at the end man 😞 as an obsessed bf2 player back in the day it makes me sad that the franchise forgot where it came from I try and convince my self that the game is fun and it is but definitely feel like it’s short lived due to map selection and other issues that you and everyone else is pointing out I always said that a great bf game would consist of Battlefield 2s formula fused with modern day ideas from passionate developers that actually played the game with us back in the day ughhh I can write a whole book right now but I’ll just stop here, hopefully something goes down because it’s pretty evident that the game is in rough shape
Remember BF4 where there were actual camo patterns for soldiers and for vehicles and guns there also were actual camo patterns and a crazy amount of patterns DICE made themselves?
Amazing review by an experienced BF vet. I don my hat to you sir with your brilliant insight to what makes a BF game. No matter how many patches Dice/EA throw at this it will never cast its filth on my Series X hard drive ever again. I have recently returned to BF4 on Xbox, this title god knows how old now is just better in every regard to 2042, especially with forced 120fps. I know a controversial statement as I enjoyed it, but Battle Field V is a masterpiece when compared to 2042, the wokeness runs deep within, hence no scoreboards/ voice chat as not to upset snowflakes as long as they get their little participation trophy at the round end all is good as far as EA is concerned. For years I was a bad BF player, certainly on the kill to death ratio, but I always did my bit for the team be that medic/support etc and was and still is ready to take one on the chin for the team to achieve an objective. Scoreboard wise yes my Kill to death ratio would be shocking at times, but my overall score was more or less top 20 twenty, even came out on top a few times. But that didn't matter, the older games made you feel like a grunt on the ground doing your bit to turn the tide in a battle where you feel like a drop in the ocean, that is the BF experience, not some hero/specialist element that wins the day singlehandedly that 2042 tries to project.
Couldn't have said it better myself. A hero shooter has no place under the battlefield name, but instead of being creative and developing a new franchise for a hero shooter title, Dice and EA decided to dismantle Battlefield and all it encapsulated to piggyback off the battlefield name. What a shame.
The difference between BFV and BF2042 is that BFV has some redeeming qualities. The gunplay and movement are both god tier, the pacing was just right, the art *IN THE GAME* is stellar and it's just a ton of fun. 2042, on the other hand, has none
When i played bf1 i thought to myself "if every bf game from now on will look and play this good we are in for a treat". I guess i could not have been more wrong.
I always go back to comparing Battlefield 2 (2005) and Battlefield 3 (2011) in terms of gameplay. A precedent was made in 2011 - no mod tools, consolized gameplay, 4 not 6 man squads, 4 classes instead of 7, DLC instead of expansion packs...dumbed down beyond belief for so many other reasons. Much of the original teams from both games are gone, and the suits always win in the end. I repeat again, a precedent was made. Back in 2011 many people from consoles started playing on PC for some reason, and the game was targeted at them. Sure it was better than the classic console experience, but as far as the classic PC experience - that one was gone. Huge loss of standards and praise of mediocrity. People thought that it was the most amazing game because their standard up to that point were console games. This is the result. We complained about this on the EAUK forums 10 years ago, and they shut down the forum. We did warn you all. Demand excellence and stop buying this crap.

You're wrong in at least one point: if a game is "consolized" it's not because console players play on PC, it's simply because there is one code base, and that is of course the console version. The console UI is by nature limited (you have quite a few buttons on controllers these days, but it still pales to what a PC can offer… not to mention you don't have a mouse, so any inventory stuff *automatically* has to be simplified). And thus the game is geared towards a console UX (User eXperience… hate that abbrev), and the PC just follows suit. Making a better UI/UX for PC? Just costs money, so they save on that.
@ Perhaps i should have clairified, but yes, that is what i meant. When the base of the game is made in such a way that when you play on PC, it feels like a console port more than a "meant to be on PC first" game.
exactly, this is what I fail to understand, people talk about BF3/4 like they were these great games, when in reality they were a consolized version of the TRUE OG battlefield which is BF2, by far the best one ever, a pc exclusive one, sadly most of those console gamers probably never played BF2 so they don't even know what they missed, and since console is the priority now, we PC players only get stupid versions "limited" due to console hardware and console players "bad taste" if we can say that, every battlefield after BF2 was a downgrade, all of them, even BF1
In BF 1 when you and your squad become the MVP it was a proud moment. That glorious pose of your Ready to fight and dependable character... you can just feel it. In 2042 you just... don't want to be the MVP.
I absolutely love listening to this destruction of Battlefield from a long time player. I have played for 15 years and paid the $100 for the ultimate edition out of pure excitement. Saying it was a waste of money is an understatement. I do feel SCAMMED. I don't have hope of it being fixed. It's altready February now. RIP, Battlefield.
This video is very well done. Thank you. I am so disappointed this is the "Battlefield" we got. I skipped this offering and I'm not even sure if I want them to try to make another one.
I’m so grateful for this video. Damn near brought a tear to my eye, every single word needs to be screamed at anyone who had any role in the “creation” of this game. Seriously may god have mercy on their souls, this is a sin on so many levels. Honestly hope they lose billions in the coming years and lose the rights to any future BF installments. -7/10. 🖕🏼🖕🏼EA.
What really gets me is the fact that they showed us a trailer that checked all sorts of boxes in terms of what the community wanted . . . and then proceeded to deliver a game so unfathomably different that I still can't believe it's supposed to be the same title.
If you watch Tom Henderson video on Battlefield 2042. It pretty much confirm that the people behind this game were a amateur dev team. Previous BF developers left the studio after BFV or mid development of BF2042. DICE is just in name only and we will never get a true Battlefield game ever again after knowing EA new priority.
the pros left because the hired a spaniard to lead swedes.. it wont go well in ANY swedish company -but amecians are so ignorant its not even funny anymore undejucated people in the management just as the former swedish EA ceo said about players -so he had to go well rest of the team has left -Ea must be proud that the team are just dumb hires just like them.
Now this is what I call a review. Extreme attention to detail, professional presentation, a few jokes here and there but nothing that strays from the main topic and only add to the experience, phenomenal editing all made by a person that truly understands battlefield. Every single employee that ever worked on this game should be forced to watch this video over and over again and analyze every second of this video to understand each and every single mistake they made with this game and LEARN FROM IT, FOR GOD'S SAKE. What every DICE employee should also do is get rid of their ego and learn to be honest with their fans instead of trying (and failing) to gaslight them. And as a side note, DICE should take action and fix every single problem with this game (not just technical problems but also the MANY design issues), while also hiring a small team to work on battlefield V, add back missing features like team switching, air superiority, multiple map reworks and add eastern front themed maps, weapons, vehicles and gadgets similar to the war in the Pacific expansion, and if that wasn't enough, separate Portal from 2042 and turn it into a full game similar to Halo: the master chief collection. Do all that and you might get me to buy 2042 or any new battlefield game. If you don't, this franchise will never recover
damn man this was a good one, i feel like bf1 and 1942 and bc2 were my favs, tossed you a sub.. this is a masterpiece of a video haha people need to watch this
And hearing Tom henderson saying that the next BF will be a Hero Based shooter (In his YT vid) without any Army's is just saying to me that i shouldnt support any Triple A Studio anymore
Damn Grav- tell us how you REALLY feel! 🤣🤣🥲 No seriously… as a fellow veteran of BF games since 1942 on a Pentium 3 Gateway PC, this game is a bastardized concoction of a failure of epic proportions…
Btw, I was one of the pc players affected by the vertical mouse input bug… after spending countless hours customizing my key bindings and whatnot…. After that I just said fuckit….
I'm a big soundtrack guy, Bear is a refreshing choice, I'll have to pick up the album (because I sure as Hell don't own the game). The BF1 score I found very effective - especially after winning an MP round, which sound like the musical equivalent of pure triumph. BFV was melancholic for me - even a victory sounded like the tears of regret being wrung from the old dishrag of distant sorrows. 2042 goes and gets not-Bjorn 😐 I can't wait to get my 'More Modern Warfare' groove on 😕 Do they not know the term CONSULTANTS ? EA may need to update it's roster with people more familiar with it's longtime fanbase (I mean a real fanbase, not corporate-speak for "shareholders")and familiar with the kind of key answers that you've been unable/unwilling to digest, but ones that will give it enough volts to at least do more than shamble about armed to the teeth wearing an E.A. t-shirt, no underwear and a serious problem with criticism from people who don't own shares. We can give you the damned answers to a better Battlefield (yes, riches, revenue and rave reviews - steak dinners and power fantasies about dropping artists from rooftops, all the usual stuff 👍), anything besides spending a heap of cash on useless (read: useless) focus groups - each time I hear you've been seeking their wisdom, I see suitcases of cash being unceremoniously dumped into a fire 😐
Playing 2042 makes me want to play BF4 again... its a great feeling to play a good game after 2042! And this is dissapointing af, after BF1 and 5 i was damn happy as i heard the next Battlefield will be a modern one. - - - Trailer, Gameplay and Cinematics were incredibly made, the hype was real! Beta was okay, but not enjoyable enough. - - - Like you said, they should have recreate better maps in Portal. For example BFBC2 had the best maps in BF History (in my opinion) - Port Valdez - Laguna Presa - Isla Inocentes - - - The weapon recoil is ridiculous (on PS4), in generall no big weapon variety. Jets are useless, or hard to control. No Boats? Wtf... Maps in the main game too big and open, no infantry gameplay like BF3/4 in Locker or Metro. - - - Specialist... i dont know what to say about that, useless - - - Harzard Zone... havent played it. I dont need a Battle Royale / Extraction game in my favourite Franchise! - - - Was not worth it for 120€. It is just sad, and i hope they will change a lot in this game...
Honestly I want to make a petition to get season passes and paid map packs back. It forced the companies to put out genuinely good maps. And it wouldn’t just be one new map added every 2 months that within a week or two gets completely forgotten. It also just sucks that the community is letting them ruin cosmetic items and microtransactions. I just remember having to legitimately grind for hours upon hours to get some cool skins or class customizations. It made things feel meaningful. Now you can work your ass off for a couple hours, get an alright looking skin. Then just never use it because there’s gonna be a better one in the store anyway. Companies just don’t understand how to keep their players wanting to play. They need to stop designing the game around micro transactions. And rather design an amazing game, with it’s own fully fleshed out cosmetics that you can work for or grind for with challenges or just simple playtime. And only after that, add some microtransactions that add to the experience. Small things that a player could want to add onto their already badass soldier. I just miss the bf4, bo2, halo reach, the old legendary games that didn’t need microtransactions to get money. They just needed to make a good game to sell to fans. And if a player wanted to expand their game, they could pay a little more money to add hours upon hours of new and exciting content. Remember spending $15 to get the new dlc, getting 5 new weapons you had to unlock with clever challenges, 4 new maps that would be fucking flawless. And a bunch of new challenges to do so you could play longer without getting bored. Now on the other hand, you spend $15 and get a skin pack. This super serious soldier fighting in a deadly war, having seen his brothers in arms die in battle. Well you get to pay to put him in a fucking unicorn costume or some bullshit. In the meantime the developers have released a half-baked, cookie cutter map they call “new free amazing content.” That you know was some failed map they just decided to release for something fresh. “Free maps for all” sounds great but goddamn you fuck up the communities of people that have been supporting the game for years. Some of us have started playing this franchise since middle school. And are now going onto college and becoming adults. Others probably started back in elementary school with other games and are now having children. It should have always been the fan’s first, money second. If they listened to the people that have been there for it all, learned at what works, and executed on these ideas. We could have a fucking game here. Instead we’re stuck with these cookie cutter bullshit excuses of games we all know and love. Fuck modern gaming, rant over, going to bed, goodnight everyone.
That you bring up engine at the end there. you know. iv kinda wanted to see BF in the CryEngine. its very similar in trying to focus on particals, small things, animated mini detail such as evaporating puddles, making trees actually interact with wind rather than just making the trees as an animation. and the history that CryEngine has had. EA worked with CryTek before to publish their games. Though, it looks like CryTek doesnt want EA to touch their shit considering CryTek's last title to be Published by EA was Crysis 3 in 2013. they released 10 games since then. and Crysis 4 TBA, published by CryTek itself. The reason I say the little things is because BF1 and V had alot of the GRIT to it. and 2042 had clean streets and no clutter. Then the small things tend to build up to create something bigger. Hell, the sparks, dirt flying, and lasers all over the place in SW:Bf2 was a good feeling. and an engine built like this like CryEngine, will bring that sense in. Not only that but CryEngine has had MMO support since CryEngine 1 with ' Blue Mars '. now all the way to CryEngine 5, we have seen personal-made setups able to fit 200 players in one game instants. if MAG did it well, im sure other could as well. from what i see theres also 8 new games on the way being developed with the CryEngine.
As a fellow series veteran from the very beginning, thank you for articulating all of this. Keep going man, you put the feelings of us veterans into better words than I could ever manage.
This is the first video of your I've ever watched and I have to say this was very well done. I'm confused on the 4/10 though. An hour with absolutely nothing positive to say about the game. Why a 4?
I’ve been playing since the first battlefield came out forever ago and my major complaint with this Battlefield is the amount of vehicles in the game, 75% of my deaths are from getting killed by a tank or helicopter..
Weird how 2042 turned out to be the complete inverse of BFV. Where V had abysmal marketing and controversy surrounding its release, most people who actually played it agreed that the gameplay system itself was really solid and good at its core. 2042 had huge hype and tonnes of expectation pre-release, but now that it's out almost everyone says that the specialist system is dreadful, the maps are too large, and the gunplay/movement is really bad. Just a thought that maybe one contributed to the other. EA saw what bad marketing could do to a game, and so they doubled down, while neglecting to actually think about the value of the game itself. Anyway that's my little conspiracy theory.
THANK YOU! thank you for being the only person ive seen talk about the panzer not even shooting at crosshairs. literally zero play testing done by dice. (i also enjoyed that chris farley almost heroes reference)
44:00 onwards was savage haha game is a fucking mess, the dumbing down and simplification starting with BF3 really peaked in 2042 and it is painfully clear that DICE/EA do not want to do a "traditional" BF anymore, they don't see the potential to rake in the billions that CoD does now it boggles my mind that this was in production (in some form) for 3 years and there were multiple studios assigned to this i hope, with every cell of my body, that this crashes and burns so hard to show them this is not the right direction for the franchise
Glad somebody else noticed that it was BF3 where things started to slide for the series. 3 to this day is still good though and I can't knock that game, it's just nowhere near as good as BF2.
It baffled me so much that they removed VOIP, speed up movement by about 15%-20% and reduced TTK while at the same time reducing recoil in BF3. Map design shifted also from you having the choice in which "choke point" you want to attack/defend to basically you being funneled into them without a choice. Likewise in BF2 squad composition mattered towards survival of your squad and you likewise lived and died as a squad. BFBC series were somewhat a dissapointment but devs were saying it's another branch for the normies. Then BF3 came out and it felt and played more shit than BFBC2.
@@ChervonaLada Thanks for keeping the record straight. While BC was fun, I did consider it a separate branch at the time. This explains why BF3 never felt "right" to me. They could have kept them separate, alternating launches, but mismanagement fucked that up by chasing COD $$$.
Man when you went in on the Side Effects LMFAO...outstanding video, very well made! I'm so happy that I had zero confidence in this game (haven't purchased a BF title since 4 which disappointed me in map design compared to 3 the pinnacle of BF)! I did the $15 EA Pro just so I could confirm how bad this game was. 2042 has only made it so that BF4 continues to be my last purchased BF. No hope for this series, it was a good time (loved 2, 2142, and 3) but that time and era has past!
