Great young hard worker. I don't think a lot of people realize that detailing is HARD work. This young man is a true testament of how hard work pays off when you focus yourself and just go all out. Great video Pan. Keep grinding James.
I've been following James and the Topclass team for a while and this kid has what it takes. I'm really happy to see you both supporting each other as that's what this is all about. Awesome content Pan and James!
Wow I was not expecting this collab to happen. I watch a few of his videos recently and he is very successful as a young detailer. Very happy you brought him on the show pan.
By far my favorite collaboration!!!Black or white, young or old, rich or poor it’s amazing how cars bring us all together!!!we need more of this nowadays!!!
It would be interesting to know how much he pays his employees. There is a lot involved in running a business that eats into revenue. Is the $130000, profit in his pocket?
If he nets half of that, that’s $16 an hour. Calculation based on 80 hours a week, 48 weeks a year. My opinion, any job you have to work 80 hours a week is not worth it. What’s left over? Maybe while he’s young it’s fine but that doesn’t last that long 😭
For my detailing business i do it alone. I push for 2 full details a day at 4-5 hours a car and make 500-6 a day. 5 days a week ads only cost 500 -6 a month plus gas and chemicals are not expensive I dont work that hard
@@lwdetailing9083 @Victor Hernandez We're all speaking the same language. I am also my own boss, I work alone, and you bet your ass I make more than $30/hour. I'm happy this young man is working hard and building a business / reputation, but he could be an electrician (pick your trade) working half the hours netting pretty close to the same.
I think a part of James story that sorta goes under looked is that he has a clear and detailed vision that he's believed in and stuck with. There's even almost a design framework with his business and it translates to him not having to second guess some decisions, and results in his brand being stronger and more recognizable.
Dan, I follow both of you periodically and I have learn form both of you on all the tips and new products reviews. I’ve being detailing my personal cars since I was in high school I’m 49 now and I still keep my both my car and my wife’s in top notch shape. Keep up the good work and congrats TopClass detailing for achieving that at that young age💪🏼
Thanks Konsta! I like giving back to the detailing community and helping smaller channels and businesses to grow and gain exposure. If they are good people, are passionate and working hard, I want to support them. When I started on RU-vid, nobody was really helping smaller channels to grow. So it was my mission to make sure I do that if I was to be in a position where my channel grew enough where I could help others one day. :)
When can we see a video of all the overhead that comes with this business. How much does he actually net. After all those chemicals gas and paying he’s guys probably not much.
Great video Pan and props to the young man showing how ambition pays off! I see a lot of comments re: the ease of making this kind of money in Cali, but most commenting seem to forget two crucial elements…One, there are hundreds or thousands of detailers in Cali/LA, that he has to compete with, so if he’s making a dent in the business, he’s doing something right and definitely doing good work! Secondly, Cali like most of the west coast is dealing with record drought and he had the forethought to equip his vehicle with a water tank which is a more efficient use of a dwindling resource, so kudos to him. The drought situation is a real threat to detailing businesses on the west coast, so they have challenges other regions don’t have to consider. The grass isn’t always greener on the other side!
Exactly. Instead of saying "well I'll never make that kind of money" or finding excuses on why that would be impossible for you, one should look at creating a business plan, being passionate about what they're doing, working super hard, and build their business. Good points man!
This is amazing to watch such a young dude take the veritable bull by the horns and build himself a successful detailing business. You can't help but wish the best for him and also marvel at his will and dedication. Gives a 40+ year old like me hope to give the detailing trade a go. Cheers
Glad to hear that! Welcome to my channel. You discovered one of the biggest car detailing channels on RU-vid as we surpassed 760,000 subscribers and are getting close to 100 million views! I have been detailing for 25 years and I love to share my knowledge and passion with my viewers. You found the right channel to help you learn everything about detailing.
I literally was watching his video when he was 19 at the time. Very inspirational. Right now I’m just trying to learn and build up my equipment One at a time before launching any business. So I’m just detailing friends and family cars. Great video Pan!
Great story. I've never started my own business like this young man but I've hired a few hundred young people for the businesses I worked for and ran and so many of them have been hard workers and have gone on to bigger, better things. I always advise to plan for an unexpected future. Get a retirement program in place as soon as possible and contribute until it hurts. Also, set an age goal to cover your minimum living expenses from your investments. Set another age goal to cover your complete income. Spend an hour or two a week just on investing and how markets work, dividends, capital gains, insurance, etc. Things might be going great but you just never know when life throws you a curve and having financial security is one huge thing not to worry about.
I have a lot of respect for this guy’s hustle and ambition. However, in the video, he did not claim to make 130k a year , as the title implies. But tells us he could make 100k + in a “good day/week/year” Also, even if he does make 130k a year, is it really worth it if you have to work 6/7 days a week to earn it? Still, Thanks Pan for giving this Gentlemen a spotlight on your channel. Great video!
I thought that too. Not only working 6/7 days a week but ridiculous hours. It's a very good way to burn yourself out. And of course. What's the point in working so hard if you don't enjoy life? By the sounds of it from what he said, he literally would not have time for friends or down time. Work to live, not live to work. Also on top. He may make 3-4k a week. But don't forget he's still gotta pay for fuel, employees, products, taxes. After all that it could easily be more like 2k for himself.

Glad you enjoyed it! I like giving back to the detailing community and helping smaller channels and business to grow. Passionate, hard working people are things I appreciate in a person.
I can't wait to own my own detailing business soon, this helps me realize it really is possible with the right techniques and ambition. Great shout-out video Pan!
How do I keep the side mirror running door stain away? I polished it off, and it came back the next day. I’ve ordered Carpro Descale and a higher level cutting pad. Should I think about using an acid based wheel cleaner; if so which one? Meguiar’s is not available to me.
Wild! I just literally subscribed to his channel last night while browsing, thanks pan for giving this dude a shout out! Love the detailing world! Sorry non car lovers lol
$200 for a regular car wash is insanely high. In India, car wash costs ranges around 200 to 500rs ,that is $5-$10. And all uses a pH neutral shampoo. That is too much for a wash.
Glad you enjoyed it Joe! I like giving back to the detailing community and helping smaller channels and business to grow. Passionate, hard working people are things I appreciate in a person. REPLY
Nice of you to put him on your channel. I admire any hard working individual, especially young people. This young man is an inspiration to anyone looking to start a business. Cheers to the both of you 👍✌️☮️
Hey Pan, been following your channel for a long time, learned great tips and tricks from you as well. Whenever there is a notification from you im so eager to watch. But this video brings up alot of another level. Happy to see you help out each other detailers near you. Too bad i live far from all of you. Anyway, have a great weekend to all. Support detailers around the world. 🤜🏻🤛🏻
At 12:50 he said that he had to upgrade the clean and charge the guy an extra $50? Did he ask wether he wanted to upgrade the clean before he charged him that?
Just from this video it does seem like he just did the work and slapped in the extra charge. From watching James for a while he usually talks to customers before his details and gets their approval in case any up sales are necessary. If customer would of told him no, then no up-sale. He’s good at explaining everything that was done at the end of the detail.
James. Up charging does not sound a good idea as you did on the white vehicle. If I want x,y and z done, that is payed at the agrees price. If you see anything that is essentially required then always inform the customer first. If I am charged for extra's that I wasn't expecting I would not trust or use you again. Sorry dude.
130k in California....... I could make 130k a year if I charged $75 for a basic wash 😂 and charge more as the service goes up. I guess the key is ask rich people to wash their car. Detailers be ready for some pain based on illusion when starting your business lol Starting Price $75 Foam Bath 2 Bucket Wash Wheels Cleaned Tires Cleaned & Conditioned Windows & Door Jambs Cleaned Interior Vacuum Interior Wipe Down This is NOT a "Premium Service". This is our Basic/Entry Level Package Designed for those who need just a outside wash & interior vacuum/wipe down. Please refer to our other packages for a Premium Service.
So how much money did you put into it as a startup? A lot of guys started without a van( without water tank) and by using the customers water and electrical. I want to start in this business as a side hustle but, for now, I don’t have enough funds for a van setup. I have a pressure washer, dry/wet vacuum, multiple polishers and pads, a lot of chemicals…I’m just skeptical about how willing people are to use their water and electrical until I have enough funds to get a van. Anyway, I appreciate the video and the info
Video title is a bit misleading. He is referring to sales figures, and appears to have a decent amount of equipment, supplies, and 2 employees. So the 130k a year in sales in great, but what is his gross profits after expenses is the real question. Sounds like he might have just bought himself a 50k a year job no?
Mr P” James you and another young man from Houston where I’m from were my inspiration and motivation to start my own career in detailing business! I was unemployed due to the pandemic 2 years ago I lost my job and I try to get back working but nobody gave me an opportunity my unemployment ran out I was down to my last $500 I watching RU-vid and I got recommended your channel and the guy from Houston then I got James videos were he was showing witch tools and chemicals to buy I thought about it since I love to detail my 2015 Ford F-150 I got a kit from chemical guys added a portable vacuum and a Ryobi pressure washer a little over 4 months ago and I started to detail my family and friends now going on 5 months word of mouth got out and now I’m with 12 customers plus my friends and relatives I’m detailing 3 to 4 cars a week prices start at $ 40 for a quick wash and anything extra like express detail $60 most of my customers always tip $ 10 to $20 dollars extra I’m good with that for now I’m my own boss I have my own schedule I’m bringing $400 to $ 500 at week working out of my truck I don’t have a set up ban usually the customers provide me water and electricity! I’m very thankful to all 3 of you guys and also some members of the detailing community for sharing your experience with the rest of the world I wish you guys nothing but the best and thank you so much!
@@PanTheOrganizer I like them all specially when you teach the techniques how to wash and detail and I also love when you show the tools and products and you put them against each other which is better I’m always learning more and more once again thank you I’m learning from the best of the Business it gives me a lot confidence I’m not even half of where I want to be I’m years away from the pros but I’m loving what I’m doing and my Customers are happy with my work performance and results it a lot of fun see them sit on a chair and watch the transformation from a dirty car to a clean and shining car Cheers!
@@PanTheOrganizer hello pan! Big fun of your channel. I'm here in fort worth Texas. I actually started detailing since I watch James/you and miranda detailing/ right now I only do detailing on Sundays because I still work at my regular job. But I really do enjoy dealing cars. It feels so good when you clean someone's car and they like and appreciate what you do. That's an awesome feeling. Well if one day I have the privilege to speak with you ?it will be an honor.
Most importantly, you need to have a market for this. No good setting up with dreams of this magnitude if you’re in a relatively low socioeconomic area where few people will want or be able to afford car detailing.
hard to make this kind on money when you live in a small town and everyone nowadays is looking for the cheapest services.. Good on this kid though he’s killin it and making the most of his marketing skills and definitely has that people person vibe 🤘🏼🤘🏼
Exactly...I was just gonna comment the same thing. You need to be in a metro area with high income clients. Mobile detailing is a little bit easier in those areas because you don't necessarily have to live in the ritzy area, you just need to be able to get there from a reasonable distance, and schedule clients preferably, not too far from each other so you're not wasting time and fuel driving from client to client.
This is all bs. You just needa find your market. I was able to do it in Tucson, AZ. Not only is the population small but it clears out when the summer hits , rather than getting busy. Also, you’re not gonna do it w/ sheer volume in washes. You have to do coatings and corrections. But everyone has their excuse

Way to go Pan! Giving the youth in small business, detailing community a shout out. Could not shake the feeling Top Class Detail was getting railroaded on RU-vid early on.
Thanks Patsy! I like helping smaller channels and businesses to grow when I see that they are passionate about their craft and are hard working people. Two qualities that I value deeply.
This is a Great inspirational video to help get started with mobile detailing. Sending nothing but Best wishes to TopClass Detail on his business venture! Thanks for sharing!
Yo tengo un mobile detalin pero no puedo obtener suficientes clientes y cuando les digo los precios se asustan y solo cobro 40 y 50 lavada regular por pequeño y grande
I'm not sure we can take anything here serious when you have a detailer not even following EPA water reclamation rules ON CAMERA LOL With that said kudos to the successful hustle and hard work
Thanks for the positive feedback! I always like to encourage smaller channels and businesses who are working hard and are passionate. One way I can give back to the detailing community beyond my videos. 😁👍🏻
merci Pan pour cette promotion, c'est une preuve que le travail et la passion permettent d'y arriver, même si la région de LA est favorable à cette activité. Merci pour cette découverte et le sous titrage est de qualité. 👍👍👍👍
Thanks I appreciate it! 👍 I like giving back to the detailing community and helping smaller channels and businesses to grow, all while inspiring a future generation of detailers! :)
He mentioned about using spotless water or deionized water when detailing. Meaning filtered water that has no minerals in it so when washing cars in direct sunlight, he won't have to worry about spots
Correct. And some detailers also use canopies. I made a video about detailing in direct sunlight here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-DebiLFBCHu8.html

@@PanTheOrganizer Γεια σου φιλε Παντελη (hope you got it in Greek :) ). I discovered your channel through searching for best products for my cars, mainly looking for improvements etc. Then I was presented with the Awards 2021 video and it all started from there :) When i watched my first video, i said toi myself, this guy, Pan, could be Greek :) and then down the road I watched YOUR STORY and all became clear. I love what your are doing and how you do it. It takes passion and commitment. Definetly you love what you do and it shows. So would essentially be at $65,000 per year working 5 days a week for 8 hours a day or working 80hrs at $130k per year. At 80hrs a week it might be time to start investing in a second van and some more hard working employees. Awesome job!! There is something so nice about seeing a car after a detail.
Wow. Different locations allow for charging clients different amounts. In central Kentucky, if I charged 199.00 for small cars, rather than having me detail it, they would just go get a new paint job for that 🤣. Good for him. This young man may be the next Pan
Dominican dudes in NYC has been doing this for over ten years now..the first one to start doing it was a guy that set up in my old neighborhood.. I use to talk to him all the time he changes from 60 to $100 per car I thing and he always has around five cars working on at one time..I know he's set up multiple locations now with all the TLC drivers in the area where he sets up I'd say he's pulling in over six grand a day and all of the guys that work with him are illegal immigrants and in are city u don't need any type of license to do this ..in the suburbs u can do driveways and house siding cleaning also....I see a lot of blk dudes in Atlanta and Florida doing this hustle..

I agree with James. Do it because you love doing it. The money will come as long as you do good work. Word of mouth from customers will spread. I recently started social media. Don't know a lot about it yet, but hey at 68 years old I think I'm doing good. My satisfaction is my customers. Their smiles and the joy I get from their satisfaction makes it all worth it to me. As I said before on other posts, I make $60,000 part time. I work 6 days sometimes. It depends on my customers. Sometimes I get hit off schedule and I'm slammed. But that's not a regular accurance. Maybe 1 or 2 days out of the month I will have to do that. All my work is closed mostly from the public. I rarely take new clients. It's my choice. I don't want to do this full time. I have outside income monthly. I don't have to to this. I do it because I love it. Those of you that love a beautiful vehicle know this for yourselves. Do what you love to do. You will be successful at it. There is plenty of work out here, so no need to be jealous of another detailers in town. I have 6 in my small town and the number is growing. In 5 or 10 years I will be to old to continue doing this. Someone else will pick up my customers. My customers know this too. I'm just grateful they love my work.
