In 2002 I was 15 years old and that spiderman film was just about the coolest thing I had ever seen. That cake has aged about as well as my ability to feel wonder or hope.

I DEFINITELY remember getting this cake for my 4th Birthday. I was so obsessed with Spidey as a child. Beautifully warm, fun memories. Crazy you have this after all these years. Reminds me of last year when I unboxed my parent's wedding gazebo cake topper that had been sealed in storage for 21 years. The wedding staff had boxed the gazebo back up in the foam case without cleaning the vanilla cake off. So it had cake frosting still slathered all over the gazebo that had since turned this diarrhea brown. But surprisingly.....it didn't smell rotten at all. It still smelled like vanilla cake. (Then again, my mom said their cake wasn't the best tasting and was very artificial and full of preservatives so that's probably why....) Why it also surprised me was because it had been stored in a non temperature controlled garage throughout the ENTIRE time it was sealed away, so the fact that it still smelled good after being subjected to stifling hot and freezing temperatures since before I was even born is beyond me.

Feb 8th 2003 was my 13th birthday! I didn’t get this cake but I did get a stereo, Big Brovaz’ hit single “Nu Flow” and a bed spread with Purple Ronnie on it. Good times!

Careful Ashens. I saw a documentary many years ago about a man who woke up one day with a murderous headache. Over the weeks his eyes and sinuses started to cause him pain. Eventually medics learned that he had inhaled mould spores from stale bread and he ended up having his face surgically removed from eyebrows to tongue. Ended up with just a big hole where his face used to be. Not a word of a lie.
