I ate high carb, zero fat for decades. Was always cold, anxious, brain fogged, food obsessed, miserable, even suicidal for decades. Lost the best years of my life because idiot government sold out to the food industry and told us lies about nutrition. I wish dr westman had been there when I was a kid. So glad there are doctors like him dedicated to helping us become truly healthy.

I was excessively cold until I learned about micro -nutrients in bone broth.I boil bones/cartlidge of free-range chickens for 15 mins and add some seasoning.Within a few days of this , my thyroid has improved and my body temperature is increased .only use free-range /organic bones because ,otherwise , non-healthy influence in the bone marrow may be extrapulated during boiling. E.g. with wild fish bones , mercury from Marine pollution may emerge from the bone marrow.

I do not think it has anything to do with selling out to the food industry. It has just been assumed for many years that fat that was eaten was the same as fat in body because of the lack of understanding of metabolic processes.
@gilian2554
@gilian2554 Год назад
@@bighands69 Research about fat was manipulated by the food and pharmaceutical industries so they could sell their products. This has been proven and many people and entities have talked about this but it is suppressed by the same players in those industries. Yesterday I listened to Lex Fridman podcast episode #268 with Rober Proctor where he talks about his study on the Tobacco industry and how they band together to manipulate ideologies, science and any other opportunity to sell sigarettes while sigarettes are the biggest killer in the world by far (bigger than weapons). These things happen in every industry but people are easily manipulated and keep falling for it. It's really not a honest mistake or ignorance.

Really nice to hear two doctors that make such good medical sense. I am a 75-year-old male and I believe the saddest thing in our healthcare system is in my entire life I have never once had a medical doctor asked me what I eat although they usually have a history of every Medication taken since birth. Even when I had a very severe case of ulcerative colitis and I asked the doctor what I should be eating he almost looked irritated when I asked the question and said it doesn't matter you can eat what you like. What did cure my ulcerative colitis was throwing away the steroids and other medications that they had given me and went on strict Atkins didn't happen instantly but over a period of 6 to 10 months my ulcerative colitis went totally away and has never returned.

Keto since 2018. Skin tags disappearing, eye floaters disappearing. Skin clearing in general. Lost 60 lbs. have gained some 15 back. I’m blaming stress, COVID issues and relaxing my vigilance on sneaky carbs. LDL went up a bit. But triglycerides plummeted and HDL improved. My cardiologist said my risk of heart attack is 4%. His PA wasn’t happy about keto so we don’t call it that. I’m off of all meds except a baby aspirin. I get sun whenever I can. As long as I’m out of the sun before 1 pm I don’t burn anymore.I’m 65 have had a pacemaker for 12 years I had a gastric sleeve 10 years ago. I lost 80 lbs but 6 years in I was gaining weight and my A1c was going back up. It’s now 5.0 and my liver function tests are good again. Dr Westman, you were instrumental in helping me see that I could do this. My husband was the catalyst. He wanted to do this. He was 318lbs he’s now hovering 190-200 lbs. he is so much healthier. This is a lifestyle for us. Thank you both for all your information. We are believers

I'm the cook so I took the responsibility of planning our meals. He had blood work done saying he was prediabetic. He's been on BP meds for years. I want to blow his doctors' mind when he goes back for his next follow up in July. He's lost 12 or lbs I've lost 9. We go to the gym 4 to 5 times a week. For 15 years I was on and off of Atkins; it was the basis of my yearly post-holidays diet. I could not stay on it. This changed when I went on OMAD. When you only eat once a day the fact that you are eating is so great that you don't miss the carbs. Also, combining restricted time eating with restricted refined carbs not only enables you to keep the weight off, you feel great!
@85jre
@85jre Год назад
I also combined low carb with Intermittent fasting and now I've lost 35 pounds in a little over three months. Those two factors combined were life changing. No more cravings. I still love food but don't miss the stuff that was poisoning me. It seems to me successful diets are (a) 45% what you eat, (b) 45% when and how often you eat (think time restricted eating), and (c) 10% exercise or genetics.

A critic could indeed say that claiming keto reduces or cures so many afflictions is an exaggeration. But saying a bad diet can cause all those afflictions is not an exaggeration. If there can be a broad-spectrum cause then why not a broad-spectrum remedy?
@DarkMoonDroid

That's what I tell people. When they ask if this isn't a snake-oil thing, I turn it around and ask them how many problems a dirty, high-carb, low-fat diet causes or makes worse and then wait for an answer. As many as they are willing or able to admit to that, I just tell them to apply the same principle.

Hoping that 2020 will be a trend to more healthy balanced eating. Keto is not a cure. In some cases it could cause harm.
@chrisinreallife2022
@chrisinreallife2022 4 года назад
@@lindabell6954 There is almost no situation where it could cause actual harm. Yes diabetics have to watch at first with their doctor as far as their meds go because their blood sugars will drop drastically. But that's about it. What it does to your LDL is irrelevant and not applicable in all people. Keto does promote healthy eating of foods we are meant to eat. And anyone with any problem can do this. I have lupus we just found out, and turns out when I did low-carb years ago I felt so great because the ketosis put my lupus into complete remission, and I lost weight. No I don't have a gallbladder either and Im fine. I have a friend who is a thyroid patient and her mom had cancer and they do this and are showing great results. I just started my aunt trying this a couple of months ago, and she is a lung transplant patient (from sarcoidosis with a later level of kidney disease and she is doing this (around 50 carbs a day or less) and she gets blood work drawn each month and she's lost weight and her labs are great and her kidney doctor AND lung surgeon are happy and told her to keep doing whatever she's doing. Keto most definitely cures things and puts things into long remissions. Please do research, there is tons of it out there along with personal testimonials that prove it far better than what today's standards of "balanced eating" are.
@lindabell6954
@lindabell6954 4 года назад
Chris Does Stuff & Things Not true that Keto is the only way to improve health. Of course stopping unhealthy processed foods will improve health. Choosing healthy foods, balancing fats, protein and carbs, can also heal. Considering that the liver slows metabolism when using fat for fuel, I personally choose to not to be in ketosis.

Carnivore is the new hype, so i will advice you to read alot on pubmed on the benefits of fibers you are not getting. Read about what levels of daily intake of the different life essential vitamins and minerals you actually need and how much of that do you get eating carnivore. Also read about antivitamins and oxalates which is often used as a statement for going full carnivore. There is a very fine balance in food and how it affects the body. Nothing is simple and thats why every person in the field of diet has a different approach and understanding of diets. Not saying carnivore is not good, just saying that i would advice you to fully understand what you are going in to when you are only 2 months into the diet.

I suspect I get some calcium from eating chicken ribs. I leave the ribs in the oven while I eat a meal to keep crisping up, and they are really good as "dessert." There's something deeply satisfying about crunching through crispy rib bones. They're quite good!

In the early 80s having come to America from the USSR, I was shocked how many foods were proclaimed bad on which my people survived. Meat, butter, eggs, milk, cheese. The US was riding the wave of “Coke is It”. But the old country women knew to watch the bread, the cakes, the candy, the macaroni, the rice and other starches if they wanted their girly figures. In the US, to the contrary, they stressed pasta, rice, bread (not white) and the diet drinks for everybody and juices and chocolate milk for the kids. 🤯 The pizza and the burgers were on the “bad list” only because of the saturated fat in the toppings and the hamburger. 😱

Low carb, no starch works. What I don't hear discussed here is dental health. After 8 months in KETO I took a break and ate occasional potato, pasta, sandwich with French bread. I could feel the starch on my teeth accumulate and ended up brushing my teeth more often. Think about the SAD with several servings of fruit and grains daily. Kids are not brushing their teeth during the day but holding all the sugars in their mouths from cereal, milk, muffins, juice, bread, banana, cookies, chips, PB&J, mac'n cheese, nachos etc ALL day! It's time to realize the SAD benefits the medical, pharmaceutical and dental professionals far more than we the people

The human body is a system and if one thing gets ruined, (metabolic disease) then like a set of dominos being knocked over, the whole body can have problems. This is why so much heals when going carnivore! To those new to carnivore- Carnivore diet cured so much for me! I am 5’7” and 47 years young. I update this list as time passes so it is always up to date, newest items at bottom of list. I have been zero carb carnivore (zero plants) for 1 year this Sept. 2023. And yes, carnivore is a permanent lifestyle for me! * No more perimenopause- completely reversed! *Period cycles all timed perfect with 4 week intervals.And no PMS symptoms, but only the actual menstrual cycle itself! *No more night sweats *No more waking every 2 hours at night! *It used to take me 20 minutes or longer to fall asleep at night when I would first go to bed at night- before carnivore. Now it takes like a minute or less. Haven’t noticed since I am out fast! *No more life long eczema *No more cold hands (may have been Reynold’s disease, never diagnosed.) *No more cold body temp in general! Used to feel like a reptile - only warm in texas sun. (may have been Raynaud’s disease, never diagnosed.) *No more IBS symptoms (gas, bloating, stomach pain, constipation, diarrhea) *No more feeling low energy by 12pm and zombie by 4pm *No more purple looking hands in winter (may have been Raynaud’s disease, never diagnosed.) *No more brain fog *No more arthritis that I felt in hands, knees, and hips- or elbows *used to have sore hips when sleeping on my side. No more! *Lost 45+ pounds from former baby weight and peri menopause weight. *Always had 20/20 vision with slight stigmatism- but in March doctor said my stigmatism is reversing! *Don’t sunburn as easily anymore and tan well. *Wrinkles around eyes seem to be much less. I am 46 and look like I am in early 30’s. *Gums look super healthy. Dentist seems irritated as my teeth are not dirty when cleaning every six months. Think they know they won’t make money off me. *No more sore chest from monthly periods- no swelling feeling of fullness or discomfort that prevented me from sleeping on my stomach. Now I sleep every night on my stomach! *Fibrocystic Breast issues reversing! Almost all gone after 6 years of buildup! *no cravings unless they are for meat *no more angina symptoms before a period- which started about 3 years ago. *No more feeling weak like almost passing out and dizzy around ovulation and periods when walking around. * no more fingers swelling- that started a few years ago- rings kept being tight- is pattern I noticed. One ring I had resized larger and it’s super loose now. Will have to resize smaller. *feel stronger- now lifting barbells not just hands weights. Dr. Baker said since I am 46, and 5’7” at 122lbs- need more resistance training to add more muscle weight. . So bought a 47lb barbell off Amazon and have 40 extra pounds added to it. Will continue to progress with that. *Before carnivore- i had started growing grey hairs in one of my eyebrows, few hairs at a time, but no grey in my blonde hair yet - but assumed it was coming. Now on carnivore I have had no new grey hairs growing in eye brows and still no grey hair in my natural blonde hair. And in the sun it gets super light highlights. * no more body odor! * I used to get a little anxiety with large crowds- like if attending special events- but since on carnivore I don’t get it that much. *I was a bit OCD before carnivore, but so much more relaxed so barely like that. * I was a relaxed person before, but somehow am even more relaxed and never stress about things. *Since I was a young child my sense of smell has been terrible. But not even a month in on carnivore my sense of smell has gone crazy! I smell things even far away! Amazing! *no more allergies! I was allergic to cedar and oak pollens- and mold- but since carnivore I am no longer reacting to those outdoor pollens which is amazing! * I have had no more issues from ear wax build up. Had it twice after having kids and docs would say it was a hormonal problem. Carnivore cured that too! *Veins in my arms look healthier. They were almost invisible before. *Legs no longer hurt on longer road trips or plane rides! *I used to get a popping sounds in my right shoulder when lifting weights. Was probably a pulled ligament. That is now gone! *I have been lactose intolerant since I was a kid, and I feel my nails are a bit stronger than before. They do break if I catch them on things but I feel they are getting stronger on carnivore. *My teeth look more white on carnivore. *My blood pressure has improved on carnivore. 6 years before carnivore up to starting carnivore my blood pressure was increasing. Now on carnivore it is back to normal like when I was younger. Last reading it was 100/75 which is awesome! *i used to get eye twitches in my eye lids, but that is gone. * at times when trying to fall asleep I would close my eyes and at times felt dizzy like falling feeling or spinning. But haven’t has that since I have been on carnivore for 12 months. *the skin on the heals of my feet are no longer cracked and dry! (Newest update added!) *when laying still in bed to fall asleep at times I would feel dizzy or feel like I was falling through the mattress a bit. I would be laying still and get that suddenly. Felt weird and made it hard to fall asleep. Never diagnosed with vertigo, but it may have been that. I no longer have that since I have been carnivore, which is nice! *little leak from sneezing or coughing that ladies get from estrogen dominance is gone on carnivore! Hormones balanced so no more estrogen dominance! *The top inner corner of both my larger toes have felt a little numb for years. Never had it diagnosed. But being 1 year on carnivore I no longer feel that numbness! My nerves have healed in that spot on both toes! Crazy! *My slightly receding gums behind my center bottom front teeth have rebuilt so gums all over are super healthy! I have flossed daily for years, but gums look even healthier! If I think of anything else will add. ☺️👍🏻 I know when people go on carnivore they are trying to heal something, but if they aren’t like me and notice small things- they may not notice they are healing way more than they realized- things plant foods were causing! And they need to remember, processed foods are made from plants- but so are whole foods (raw or cooked!) they are all toxic! The carnivore diet cures! ☺️👌🏻 The body is a network made of multiple gears- and if one gets messed up it causes a whole domino affect of problems like I had! The carnivore lifestyle is not a fad, it’s the ancestral human way of eating! Go Carnivore for a few months and see how you feel! ☺️👍🏻 Dr. Baker, Dr. Chaffee, and Dr. Baker have excellent videos on how to start carnivore!
