It´s much easier today with the Internet and RU-vid to learn the things about Street Photography that really make a difference. In these 10 minutes I telling you what I´ve learned in the last 20 years and show you some really old photos from back then. Enjoy!
I am Oliver, a Street Photographer from Germany with a big love for Italy - mainly Turin. But i am a passionate traveller as well - check out my website krumes.com for photos i´ve made on my journeys to Myanmar, Japan, Bangladesh, USA or China. I´ve been shooting Street Photography for nearly 20 years now. In 2016 i started to teach Street Photography workshops. I had solo and group exhitibions in Germany, Austria, Hungary and Italy, published my first Street Photography book "Immerse light, embrace shadows" last year and was juror for international photo contests. This channel is for all Street Photography beginners and pros - if you have any requests for future videos, please leave a comment - very curious about your opinions. Oh, and I am still a beginner in this RU-vid thing so your comments help me a lot - and please forgive me my bad English...

I started trying my hand at street after lockdown but found it stressful as i am very much a shy introvert. What i found worked for me in getting results was i wore my camera (Lumix GX80 with 20mmf1.7) round my neck at around mid chest height then pretended to be looking at my phone when I was in fact using the app to remotely trigger the shutter. A bit hit and miss but helped me move on to find the confidence to using it conventionally . If you dont have an app you can do the same by pretending to look at a notebook in your left hand while triggering the shutter with your right thumb. 😊👍

I really like the way of thinking and the message you convey. 👏👏👏👏👏👏 I would tell a young photographer not to be afraid of technology like the old photographers, to use all the technological resources at his disposal and to allow him to more easily take the photo he was looking at. Every time we encourage new generations less to investigate photo tecnology, many go to the extreme of giving as a dogma of faith that the only way in which you can exposure well is by using the camera on manual, nothing is more ignorant and archaic than that statement but which unfortunately has become a belief for many.

You are right about asking for portraits. I seldom get a no. I compliment them on their choice of clothing or whatever caught my eye. How many people can turn down a sincere compliment? I also offer to send the edited image to them. Typically, I sneak the image as I seek candid images. My biggest takeaway is that my images suck bye and buy. I only have a 2-5% keeper rate. I take many images. It costs nothing to press the shutter on my digital camera. Like Gary Winogrand, I learn what the image looks like when I photograph it. I can tell you many things that don’t look good being photographed. I recently started incorporating intentional camera movement (ICM) into my street photography. It is fun. I seldom make the image I conceive in my mind prior to making the photograph. Sadly, I’m in the 2-5% range when creating keeper ICM images. I need to do things that are easier than street or ICM photos. I’ve learned it is difficult to make a photograph without a camera. What is the right equipment? I know small and lightweight are critical. I am in search for a good every day camera(EDC). I like the GX series of Panasonic cameras. Started with the GX85 (80 outside North America). I tend to use prime lenses. PL 15mm and P 20 or 25mm mostly. The P12-60mm when using a zoom. Just purchased a Ricoh GRiiiX. The GR is a very popular EDC because of its tiny, slip in your pocket, size. Sharp APSC lens. The GRiii is too wide for my taste so I’m glad they came out with the X. I’m trying to deal with the lack of an EVF as I typically bring the camera up to my eye to frame the image. Would love a Fuji X100V but used sell at a premium to MSRP. That is nuts! I’ll simply wait for the new iteration. Did I mention price? Cheap is good. No Leica Q for me. I’m not a retired dentist with money to burn. I’d like a Sony RX1D Mii but it too is more than I want to spend. This is only a hobby for me. Sadly, the more l spend on my gear doesn’t improve my images. So for me, good enough is good enough. Cameras that took nice images eight years ago will continue to take good images. There is no perfect street photography camera except the one you have with you. I don’t carry my phone with me but I do carry a small camera. Mask On Nurse Marty (Ret)

Hi! Thanks! I am not really aware of a photo platform which is 10/10, but i like Threads for some strange reason. Oh, and X. I think the best thing is to have your own website...
