With over 200 aircraft, the passenger fleet of Qatar Airways is quite diverse: The oneworld member operates both widebodies and narrowbodies from both Airbus and Boeing out of its hub at Doha's Hamad International Airport. The airline's smallest jet is the Airbus A320, while its largest is the A380 superjumbo - a demonstration of just how varied the fleet currently is in terms of size. Unbelievable that it took this long for both parties to figure out the issues with the A350’s. I can not imagine how much money was spent only to come to an agreement that probably should have just been figured out right away. 🤷‍♂️🤦‍♂️

Qatar airways has no issues with their Boeing jets as far as I know. It's their Airbus jets that have been a real pain in the past few years, with a sizable portion of them grounded because of defects and others retiring because of being too expensive to operate now.

Boeing isn’t having the same paint issues at all, nor are they having flight issues as you mention. Boeing paint issues were limited to the wings, and a fix was already found. Airbus degradation issues have been affecting the entire planes. Almost all A350 operators have reported these problems but did not view them as a safety issue. Qatar is replacing their A330’s with 787’s and have been quite please with the performance. 787 deliveries have been paused because of a supplier problem which has been the cause of all issues with the 787. Not Boeing. They (Qatar) have also planned to replace the A380 with the 777x. They have also stated that the 737 MAX is more efficient than the A321 NEOS. Now that the 321 order has been reinstated, they may keep them or convert them into other Boeing products.

i was really hoping the situation would resolve itself where both parties come to some sort of agreement and Airbus would resume delievering planes to Qatar again, really pleased this is what happened

The reason I initially thought they'd cancel the 737 order is because it would mean all new training for pilots and wondered if they were willing to commit to hiring and training new pilots for the 737 max. But of course, as stated in the video, they like to keep a modern fleet and pilots would have to undergo some training for upgraded cockpits anyway. Is there a possibility they could keep the original plans for the A321 neo order and lease the 737 max planes, I wonder?

Doesn’t matter how many aircraft Qatar have they still have the ability to change flights, times last minute. It is the one thing you can rely on with Qatar.

With Airbus and Qatar back together again and until Qatar is ready to resume it's A350 orders, Qatar may most likely officially retired it's 12 Airbus A330s by the end of this year.

Really accurate information. Only little nitpick is the Oman Air planes are operated by specially trained QR crew. Pretty sure they’ll go with more 787-9s instead of the Max

Qatar Airways is flexible with its "Zoo" from aircrafts. That has prooved the Gulf Blockade in 2017-2020 and the first wave of the pandemic in 2020. Moreover, it opens a wider oportunity for an airline to give the relative premium product to maximum amount of destinations. Example from Emirates, and now Etihad, when they would serve such destinations like Yerevan or Sofia, they would put there low-costers like flyDubai or AirArabia Abu-Dhabi respectively, due to low capacity, but to fly for the same price a low-coster downgrade is not profitable. Qatar Airways instead would just put there A320/A321/B737MAX, smaller capacity, but relative product with bigger jets. The biggest disadvantage of Qatar Airways, and Emirates too, that they refurbish their jets only when they need to promote their new products, like Q-Suite or Emirates Premium Economy, or in critical situation, like A380 production cancelation. I even mean not A330, but Boeing 787-8, that requires refurbishment, because it is used more often, than other aircraft, would be used for even longer time and it is one of the most incomfortable jets in the fleet. To compare, KLM, Air France and far worse airlines like Delta refurbish their fleet very good. You can fly a 30 year old A320, but you would not see it inside the aircraft, due to IFE, LED lights and bigger overhead bins. This is a good lesson for the Gulf Carriers.

Far too many aircraft types in their fleet. Must cause a headache when one goes tech. Glad to see the rift settled. There will still be a bit of mistrust between the parties but all going well they need to sit down and start building goodwill. Egos have been bruised but can be healed. Brinkmanship doesn't help either company.

There's no way Qatar is taking delivery of 100 short-haul narrow bodies. the 737 or the a321neo orders are getting canceled. My guess is the 737s are getting cancelled. Qatar wanted the a321neos all along, and now that they've coming crawling back to airbus with their tail in between their legs, the can get them.

1. Qatar airways shouldn’t be the best airline it should go to Singapore or Emirates. 2. To the boeing fans, Airbus isn’t at fault and Qatar airways CEO is being a baby. The 787 had issues too and can’t forget about the Max 8 right?

Qatar are in real trouble with having to get both orders now. There is now way they need both the Boeing and Airbus orders, thats waaaay too many planes, and i'm pretty sure they would lose the deposit from any firm orders from Boeing. And with so many different types of aircrafts the operating cost would be huge due to a lack of commonality. A320/1neos A330 A350 A380(to be retired anyway) 737MAX 787Dreamliner 777/777X..... they should buy the A220 and the 747-8 also hahaha

@@ant2312 i know, Airbus and Boeing always make planes with comonality, but having so many of both just doesn't make sense, u will have pilots who can fly the 737MAX but not the 787 or the 777X and vice verse, you will have pilots who can fly the A320/21 but not the A350 or the A330 let alone any of the boeings..... etc etc. Very unusual to have 737 and then the A320/21 and then the 787 and the 777 and then the A330and the A350 also, plus the A380 untill they are retired... just too many imo

The MAX I think should be cancelled and Qatar to go ahead with the NEO variants. I mean Qatar is pretty into Airbus than Boeing. Other airlines would have bail out if they had the issues that Qatar had with Airbus
