Researcher Joseph von Fraunhofer, born in 1787, brought us closer to the stars. Counted as one of the founders of modern optics, he succeeded in manufacturing telescopes in a quality that had never been seen before. In 1814, he made his most significant discovery, which was then named after him - Fraunhofer lines. These make it possible for us to get a closer look at space and to understand how stars are born.

Rather, one of the greatest craftsmen of all time. His efforts did not care much about the nature of the universe, such as the sun. What he was interested in was ways to characterize glass, allowing him to make better optics such as telescopes. He didn't care much HOW absorptions lines were produced, only that they could be used to measure the characteristics of glass.

Is there an easy place to find that lists all those 574 lines or the many more I'm assuming have been discovered since..? I can only find the same 31 points of data on them wherever I look. Probably not looked hard enough but I have no proper education access to assist and wish to make a wide-spectrum spectrometer & analyser :)

How do the stars/sun emits the whole spectrum, if light is always carried by photons with specific energy?

I am reading the free Leica history book and in there we get the context of how ignorant humans were of light and optics right up to 1800. First then a rudimentary scientific method was applied, just because France and Germany wanted correct maps - which we also did not have until then! Realize how ignorant we collectively and individually we still are.
