Really glad to see you cover a buell blast....I have an 01 Sunfire yellow all original while this may be a" beginners" bike I am certainly not a beginner but pun intended find this to be a blast to ride I put more miles on this than my truck every bit of service has been done and it's dead nuts reliable love the buells
I built a very cool cafe racer out of one of those on my channel ,I got it on a trade and figured why not I still have it it is literally a blast to ride !
I’ve had 5 of these bikes, and bought em running but damaged from the harley riders course dealership. I would fix em up and sell em to the kids in the family, or anyone that wanted em. I still have 2 of em. Currently own about 20 buells, all tagged and insured and rideable, I really enjoy being a buell owner. I don’t know everything about these buells but know a decent amount to get by. Currently having an issue with my 1125cr. It runs but runs terrible. I’ll never part with my very first blast. It’s ugly, it’s yellow and goofy looking to some. But it’s my apocalyptic bike, if I ever need to go somewhere where I’m not able to take my other buells off-road. Even in comparison to my Ulysses. It’s a very reliable bike, just oil changes and tires and bearings. Upgrades are fun to install also.
@@Spartansrule118 I have seen them with 30-40k miles on them. People do road trips on them. They are super easy to work on. I bought a bit wider tires for mine so they hug the road a lot better. Loved them.
@@kokodaddy6290 yes all of them clunk into first. They always have and I really haven’t found a good fix other than adjusting your clutch a bit. But it’ll still clunk into first. But I will say these bikes have never left me without a smile. I did a few diy mods as well to make it more enjoyable
1 more question, when you switch it into first does it also grind? Because the one I was riding, made a grinding noise and a clunk and they were. It’s really obnoxious
I had a new one back in the early days and bought a used one two decades later. I road that thing to the ground as a daily commuter to work from rain, fog, to freezing cold. Reliable for sure. It always starts up.
Bulletproof thumper! It’s cool how the blast can switch its looks from sporty to cruiser just by changing to hi/low seats & fairing (stock) i love it! The Blast is a keeper.
I bought a wrecked Buell Blast as a project bike. It looked so cool, even by today's standards. Sadly, I never got around to fixing it and sold it. I would love to buy a running Buell Blast, or Lightning in the future.
Cool bikes , I looked at them back in the 90s and almost bought one 3 years ago.. Some came with a huge fucking airbox on them and shit just got crazy .I liked them when they first came back out .
Was this like the Harley 500cc for learners? I may have commented to soon but the engine looks like a Harley 500 for learners just a different frame. Dam right it needs Harley Davidson down the side
Absolutely love these.... Fuck knows why we never got them here in the UK as a 500cc single is perfect for the back roads. The only H-D/Buell I'd even consider owning..... Shame
My 1st soport bike was and is an 1125r. Such a great bike with fuel in frame rim mounted 8 piston break caliper crazy aerodynamics and an awesome 1125 rotox engine. The dumbest thing harley did was relinquish buell. Now they are chasing after performance they had and the new buell motorcycles are reinventing the wheel again. Who ever maid that call should take a long walk on a short bridge
As good as it may (or may not) be; this bike had NOTHING on the Suzuki GS500, at least in Canada. These thumpers were sold for whopping $7000 CAD back in 2000s and for around two grands less; one could have either the aforementioned GS500 or the Kawasaki EX500, with parallel twin engines and Japanese reliability I might add, and frankly; which bike would you rather have?! And let's not forget the Kawasaki W650 which looked miles better than this... monstrosity while costing roughly the same (if I recall correctly)!
Yep great little bike. HD dropped the ball killing off Buell the brand it was a great gateway brand that would have brought younger clients to HD as they matured. I rode Cyclone and Lightning and enjoyed them very much.
They discontinued the Buell brand following the 2008 economic downturn and corporate restructuring of the time. Similar to GM discontinuing their Hummer and Pontiac lines.
I have a 2000 Buell Cyclone with broken head screws and and a 2005 Blast with front end damage. I'd like to put the better wheels, suspension and brakes on the smaller bike. Is that difficult?
@@Spartansrule118 never had a problem with mine. Easy to work on engine and since it was half of an 883 roadster basically parts were easily a available
I rode a Blast from Newport, Oregon to Lake Dallas, Texas. If you'd like some long distance riding advice, here is mine... Don't take an effin Buell Blast.
I am skimming through the video and you keep mentioning things like "it should say Harley Davidson on the tank" and "it should be black and orange" but the bottom line is it's a Buell, not a Harley Davidson. It's "a Harley Davidson company" but it's not supposed to be a Harley. Buell is it's own thing, and I think they did it right without putting a bunch of Harley crap on it. If that's what you want, go buy a Harley lol
Very modifiable-this was my upgrade to 2 inch riser and Clubman Jr handlebars www.badweatherbikers.com/cgibin/discus/board-profile.cgi?action=pict&file=817752.jpg
