In this video I give a full in depth review and tour on a Mitsubishi eclipse GT with the 5 spd manual transmission. I take viewers on a close look through the interior and exterior of this car while showing details, over viewing of features, and noting unique styling cues to the vehicle itself. I also show the engine and the details of it, start it up, and get an exhaust clip showing acceleration. A through review of this car designed to give others a greater overall appreciation of the vehicle.

I think it's pretty good. I've had my 2000 gs for about 5 months and it has never given me problems. My bro drives an 02 civic and that 5 speed transmission is probably the easiest to manage. It shifts so smoothly. You can't go wrong with either of them.

I have a 2000 Eclipse GT that formerly was used as a drag racing car and she wasn't stock when I got her. She's got about 250 HP with an automatic transmission, but you can also drive her as stick (no clutch). Got her at 104K miles for a little under $4,000 last October, and she's got almost 117K now. Very safe car, I got t-boned on the right side very hard, completely demolished the front of the other car (a Honda) but only barely smashed in the side of my car. Beautiful whip, the engine sounds absolutely fantastic, especially with her custom exhaust. I've had very little problems with her so far and I drive her very roughly, I street race myself. The worst problems have been with the distributor and the A/C & heat not working right. The 3rd Gen Eclipse is my absolute dream car and I don't see how anyone wouldn't love driving it.

My first car was a 2000 Eclipse GS wich I loved so much... Sadly on my country it became really expensive to maintain, parts where hard to get and it has a headache wich was heartbraking. Then I changed it for a 2007 GT... very refined and it was kind of fast but Somehow I liked more the 2000 GS. After it I got a Scion tC wich was AWESOME; I missed something from the Eclipse line... I guess it was the Looks of the car, it had a more agressive look and the build quality was just better, The GT was FASTER i guess BUT the tC had better handling and was really fun to drive... Then I got married... and sold my tC because we NEEDED a SUV... The first car I got because I NEEDED it and not because I WANTED it... Now we are having our first baby and we need a bigger SUV... I really miss having a coupe car. I cryed when mitsubishi said that the eclipse was coming back and then they show a SUV thing with the eclipse brand attached to it.

These cars are great in particular this 3rd gen eclipse. V6 model is very quick and torquey. Great daily drive very comfy and sporty and the car will last up to 250k miles

if you get the 2000 fed spec it gets 5 hp more than any GT. after some makes of the 2001 fed spec they made cali spec cars that is the dominant trim. Note that the GTS arnt faster then the GT they come with 10 more hp but its because of the air intake, but is not faster then the 200hp GT. The GT internals are better then the GTS. the GT has lower compression, if you want a modable car you go with the GS manual reason is 170hp stock but the engine is from a evo therefore more power and stronger then GT or GTS engine wich is from many cars. like dodge stratus, sebrings. its very reliable engine because the 2000's eclipse arnt made for modding. The only time they abuse the engine was the 3000gt vr4. The GS eclipse has the best engine made from mitsubishi itself like the evo, so if you are going to mod go with GS/RS. if you dont care, want speed, reliability, power, handling, good on gas. then a GT with a stick is ur best bet.

@clsracer83 I'm 6 foot 2 and I fit well in my eclipse. If you buy one of these check the paint very well. Mitsubishi paint sucks. Look by every seal and edge for any chipping or flaking. Other than cosmetics this car is great. I've owned a 2002 eclipse gt for a little over a year and love the savings in gas and insurance. Most insurance companys consider my car an economy car for some reason and I save tons!

i got a 2001 eclipse gs with 100k+ miles manual all stock runs good and complete body for 2500$ the thing is i think both of them are at the same price. one more thing. if you know how to drive manual go for the manual. it is more satisfying to drive a manual than automatic. ON MY OPINION.

I can't say exactly how much, but it really depends on a lot of factors, including your age, as well as what kind of car you get. If you're a young driver and you're trying to get this car first, then your insurance will skyrocket (especially if you get a GT V6). If necessary, try getting a less sportier car first (like a Mitsu. Galant or Honda Civic Sedan), then work your way to the Eclipse next. Insurance companies (for the most part) charge you more for 2-door coupes than 4-door sedans.

thinking about getting a eclipse for my first car. its grey on black just like the one in the video, with the 5 speed manual transmission. the car I'm looking at has 130 thousand miles on it. is it a good car and reliable? I've been racing Sprint cars ever since I was little and everything manual so that will be no problem! so is this a good buy?

i have pretty much the same car, auto(wish it wasnt) and about 110K miles on it, and runs dang good still, gives me speed when i need it, only major thing i wish was that my 2 button on my radio worked, have to go backwards in order of songs to get to next but not really big deal, had to unplug the dash speaker though been a great car.

This is one thing I don't get, how come the 2000-2006 Eclipse get 5 speed manuals on their I4 and V6 models, but the similar 1999-2003 Galant doesn't? It doesn't make sense to me.

I think thats a good deal. I spend after taxes like $7500 2 years ago for an 03 Spyder GT. They are rare in Canada, never sold here so they cost more though. I still think $1700 is a steal. I used to own a 1999 2g Eclipse, and a 2003 Celica GTS and I like my Spyder much much more. Great car, I have a pretty detailed video on it on my channel if you want to check it out (was considering selling it but I just can't bring myself to do it, love it too damn much).

The 3rd gen Eclipse is very reliable. They go really high mileage but there is one thing that is very very important...the timing belt. The timing belt in the 3g needs to be changed every 60,000 miles. If the timing belt breaks, the engine will bend valves (Its an interference engine). The thing with the 3g is its hard to do the timing belt on it. To do it yourself its like $200-$300 in parts (timing belt, tensioner, water pump) and you need all 3 things. The water pump stops turning, the belt will break, the tensioner breaks, the belt will break, so you need all 3 things done at once. At a shop you're looking at $500-800 with labor. That is literally the only thing that sucks about the 3g Eclipse. Stay on top of oil changes and it will be good to you. I have 117,000 miles on mine and I think I'm on the original belt so I'm buying the parts this week. Its just so damn hard to change most people don't get it done. gunstar1981 you're acting like only the eclipse is the only vehicle who needs a timing belt change, EVERY vehicle needs one weather it's a chain or belt, but it is more important to do it if your engine is an interference engine because if it snaps your valves and engine pistons will crash with each other and most likely destroy your engine. If you are going to purchase a vehicle with 150K miles ask for a car fax and see if you can get the information about tune ups and fixes that they did to the vehicle.

oh em gee! the exhaust doesnt shake when it turns on?!?! miraculous! lol...its solid haha just thought i'd point that out, he probably did a lot of preparing before trying to sell this car, its almost too clean..i like the 2002's better though
