Over the years this 2000 Nissan Xterra has seen its share of adventure. After years of abusing the independent front suspension it was time to take the Xterra to the next level of trail duty. The old parts were removed and new old school tech was placed under the SUV. We added a Calmini solid axle swap kit featuring a dana 44 jeep axle 35" Goodyear tires and more to this work horse Nissan SUV.

Solid review of your X Dave! As much as I am a Frontier lover at heart I still love these Xterra's! Yours is one of the coolest 1st gen I've seen!! I think those fenders are made by McNeill.

Nice rig! my all time favorite 4x4 that I owned, even today, by far is my Jeep XJ, loved that thing, 4L solid axles, just a great rig! best of all it has timeless styling! Your Xterra is a lot bigger than what I did to my XJ though, would love to see some off road adventures in that beast!

Anything done to the drivetrain? I know there's not a ton of mods for the v6 but Im always interested to hear what guys do with them.

Sadly the 3.3L doesn’t have much to pump it up. We did a CAI and that’s about it. It’s been regeared from 4:64 to 5:13 to get to it near factory speeds with 35” tires

I put the same axle in an Xterra now the brakes are spongy replaced all the break components did you have to upgrade your master cylinder?
