Let's hope that people will always watch the videos and pictures of those 3 romanian flags, instead of reading the stats that rob Raducan of that gold medal. They took away the medal, but they can't take away what we all saw on that day.

As a medical doctor myself, Andrea should appeal the decision. In various studies it has already been shown that pseudoephedrine on therapeutic doses has no effect on performance, it could even be detrimental, it only increases heart rate. Caffeine is a much more effective stimulant.

I hope one day they return the gold medal to Andreea. That medicine that she took did nothing towards helping her win. She won on her own merit. That being said, I don't understand why any team would take non-Olympic approved medication to the Olympics. Olympic doctors should all be knowledgeable about what is banned - they should consult an official list to ensure they don't prescribe something that is not Olympic approved. Poor Andreea.
Margaret Tudor I agree with that wholeheartedly!! She is the true winner and even Amanar wad very upset and split the prize money with her. But they can't return the medal because it "was" banned :( This takes me to Simone Biles. She did "not" take a banned substance and the FIG has been well aware of her medical condition. The meds she takes does nothing for aiding performance, and everything to inhibit performance, yet many of these same folks wanting andreeas medal back are crying Simone is cheating. There is no winning in RU-vid land. It's sad

@@jojox9791 Simone is not cheating, so as Raducan. The medicines they took have nothing to do with their achivement, and were definitely not performance enhancing (they suffered from the side effects of them tho.). And seriously, gymnastic is not something you could power-through with medications. It requires a balance of strength, precision, techniques, artistry, and no medications in the world could help you through that except years after years of hard work.
@@kp395 Exactly! Both medications taken by simone and andrea inhibit abilities, not aid them. Poor andrea was just too small so it showed. Simone..people just looking to discredit her. Anyone who has ever taken or even knows someone taking the ADHD medications knows that it is meant to slow them down (I want to scream "DUH...THE H IN ADHD STANDS FOR HYPER") ....but they don't care. It's just an excuse. Simome now taking anti depressants could very well affect her performance and definitely not for the better. I believe we are already seeing this with what they are calling. "Uncharacteristic falls"..... these medications have ZERO benefits to athletes. People just suck sometimes

I was one American who was very upset when the medal was taken from Andreea. And by the way an American 16 year old swimmer at the 1972 Olympics was stripped of HIS gold medal for taking the same medication as Andreaa - his name is Rick DeMont and he was very sympathetic towards Raducan in interviews. You clearly don't know much about Olympic history if you think American's have never been stripped of Olympic medals for banned substances. Your prejudice blinds you to the facts.

This might be because of the communism, back then you were constantly told this. Sad that even the younger generation is like this. But things change, slowly :).

Inca de cand au urcat fetele noastre pe podium, mi se parea prea frumos, si cand s-a intonat imnul nostru suna muzica foarte ciudat, de parca organizatorilor le era sila ca trebuie sa o auda. This was the last Olympics where America did not get an AA gold medal. It weird that they didn't even have a gymnast in top 12 and then the next quad they won gold.
I m proud to be romanian and I thank you all for your nice comments.Along time we had some great athletes like: Nadia Comăneci - first 10 in the history of gymnastics; Helmuth Duckadam - the only goalkeeper in the world that ever saved 4 penalties in a row; Elisabeta Lipă - the best female rower of the 20th century designated by the International Rowing Federation... ....and many others. Thank YOU and thank to all our athletes for making me proud to be born in Romania!!! I can t even begin to imagine how it shoul have been to be a romanian spectator at Sydney and see those 3 flags raise up and to listen to the romanian anthem in the same time.Guess it must have been 10 times best feeling in the world!
este un moment unic in istoria gimnasticii ! nici o alta tara nu a mai avut vreodata un podium complet la olimpiada! acum regulamentul prevede numai 2 gimnaste la individual compus...pt a nu fi egalati !! nu ne pot agala in nimic ! primul 10 nadia, ultimul lavinia, singura care a luat aur la toate cele 4 aparate in probe olimpice tot lavinia.... ce vor mai mai mult?
A mai avut urss 3 gimnaste pe podium si Romania in 1996 la Atlanta, una de argint si doua de bronz, iar Lavinia are doar 2 medalii de aur olimpice, in 1992. Va inselati.

Ati gresit cele trei gimnaste de care trebuie sa va aduceti aminte sunt: 1) ANDREEA RADUCAN 2) SIMONA AMANAR 3) MARIA OLARU , gimnaste de aur , argint si bronz din ROMANIA-🇷🇴 !!!! That was the revised results. After Andreea was stripped of the gold, everyone moved up one place. I've heard that Simona, Maria and Liu Xuan all refused a new medal ceremony too.
