I just wanted to thank you for your video! I’m 63 and I just got my 06 Tundra. I’m still not all that current with searching for affordable aftermarket reliable parts and I really appreciate your input and advice! Thanks 😊

You are certainly welcome. I have lots of videos on the Tundra, my current 00 and my old 04. Aside from the transmission and the intake, the 04 and 06 are very similar. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have , if I know the answer I'm always happy to help. Enjoy that new truck . I appreciate you supporting my channel!

Thanks for the video. Super helpful because I think I'll be tackling this job within the next year or so. Been looking at the options out there and the Truetrac seems to be the way to go. Budget friendly and from what I've seen there aren't really many downsides on a mostly street-driven truck.

You're welcome. Glad you found it helpful. I looked a several options and decided this was my best choice for the same reasons you mentioned. I've put over 1000 miles on it so far and you don't even know it's there on the street. And when it does lock up its smooth and immediate even on dry pavement. I'm very happy with the choice and install was smooth. I definitely recommend the TruTrac. Thanks so much for watching and commenting and supporting my channel.

@Funjunkie Garage how helpful is it during mild off roading? I have a stock 2wd 03 and and looking for something that will give me a lil extra traction. My stock dif just spins on anything loose, naturally the lack of weight over the back tires don't help any.

This unit will be a great benefit with mild offroading. Extra traction is always a plus. As long as at least 1 rear wheel is on the ground you'll have traction. Not real expensive and easy to install. It engages seamlessly. I highly recommend it. Thanks for watching and commenting! Have a great day.

@@funjunkiegarage where did you purchase the locker? could you drop a link?
@funjunkiegarage

I got my locker and install kit from Just Differentials. They had the best price (just $10.00 less on the locker) and their customer service great, I've bought many things from them. Here is the link to the locker justdifferentials.com/toyota-8-4-30-spline-eaton-truetrac-limited-slip-differential.html?gclid=CjwKCAjwue6hBhBVEiwA9YTx8BjvwTPnhH9f0nqLAI20QHza2guyJ4D3HlZnTxg5IUcE6e4pzXBFDhoC_aYQAvD_BwE Here is the install kit link justdifferentials.com/toyota-8-4-nitro-rear-bearing-kit.html?gclid=CjwKCAjwue6hBhBVEiwA9YTx8ONwGLpha5bTO_Kit-ufwU169mpvLO6m0-nyc8IU7n3Dh8anFiGP6BoCAFMQAvD_BwE A bit more expensive now. I got mine over a year ago and just installed it. I love it. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching and commenting. Have a great day.

Oswald is a good supervisor until he gets side tracked with a box or getting his ball out of the wheel. Guess if he hasn't learned by now he's not going to. 😄

To tell you the truth, I’m doing my best to copy your build because it works! Also you seem to like the ride quality.

I had to watch this video again. Love Oswald in the background with the tires(ha ha). Could you please tell me about why you mounted your rear air bags where you did. I just got a new set of first Gen leaf springs and a used air bag kit from an F150(with upper and lower mounts).

Oswald is a hoot for sure. I have the Firestone ride rite bags in the rear. I located them according to the instructions. On my 08 Tundra they mounted directly over the axle tube. But the brackets for the 1st gen dictate that it fit just forward of the axle. Hope this answers your question. Thanks brother. I appreciate ya.

I have an 2006 it has a factory LSD. Would this be much different?
@funjunkiegarage
@funjunkiegarage 2 месяца назад
It would work basically the same. The one I installed is a gear drive limited slip (torsen style) and the factory is a clutch type limited slip.

if one wanted to change the 3.90 gear to 4.11 because of larger tires while one was in there - which part is needed to be changed? ring and pinion gear?
@funjunkiegarage
@funjunkiegarage Год назад
Yes, the ring and pinion would need changed. Or find a factory 4.10 set of diffs. That's a fairly common gear ratio. I actually have a set I want to put in my Tundra. But am considering 4.30 instead. Thanks for the question. And thanks for watching.

How much was the cost of it labor and materials costs
@funjunkiegarage
@funjunkiegarage 8 месяцев назад
I paid 600.00 for the Eaton unit and 250.00 for the install kit. There was no labor charge. I did the work myself. Thanks for watching and commenting.
