Baby, my sentiment exact.........they ARE the reason why we have instagram models with no real notoriety, because the game changed and they were the OGs - irreplaceable beauties.
Same. They smart. Even when their looks fade, sickness or parent hood comes into play they have something to talk back on. Now a days a lot of girls don't plan for the future.
Kay Renee Yet, there’s still ppl out here finding it hard to believe that R Kelly had sex with a child all because they courts didn’t find him guilty. As if our judicial system been spot on every time 🤦🏾♀️
Most of them stepped on the scene with degrees or were in the process of completing their degrees. These women were so much more. Sadly Karrine Steffans put a nasty stigma on their name with the book. Not denying her experience but these women were Video Vixen Models....she is what The term Video Ho meant. Sadly because of her it was assumed they are were video Hoes...instead of them mainly being professional models, active students and educated women who also were fine as they wanted to be
Back then you could throw on some eyeliner and lipstick and you'll be good with natural beauty....now faces caked with 5 different eyeshadows, highlighter, lowlighter, bronzers, 3 types of foundations, primers...........🙄😩😂
Jess Rockaway the ladies knew what they got themselves into? what’s wrong with you. they were children. you’re shaming KIDS. a grown MAN was raping kids.
Can we get a part 2 featuring.....Buffy the Body, Esther Baxter, Melyssa Ford, Karin Steffans, Bria Myles, Lola Monroe I know they are more well known and active but would love to hear your commentary on them, keep up the great work 😀
I'll never forget Buffy The Body and Charlamagne The God's argument. Search it on RU-vid - very interesting how CTG predicted the course of both their careers. Sidenote to the IG Models of today invest in your IG career yes but also take that money and invest properly - in a career, investment portfolio and education. IG modelling won't last forever.
I'm all about calling out colourism but let's not pretend there weren't a lot of brown and dark skin girls in the hip hop videos back in the day. We hardly see any black women in today's videos
You’re absolutely right aint it obvious that the majority of The women in this video are all light to fair skinned from some spanish background? No afro women ! Smh wow colourism is a real thing
Shonnie Shon these women was brown some was fair skinned but these women was brown wine cut the shit and there was definitely a lot of other cocoa women that wasn’t showed in this video
@croberts247 because they already had them , and these was the ones they was trying to get. Most men back then liked dark skinned women. Most I know and I'm Carmel but they always try to put me in the redbone shade
@Sweet Cocoa before the 90s it was much younger being between 10-12 y/o. The 90s is when it got a little better. It’s sickening to even think someone would consider this
It is if they press charges and the guy generally becomes a sex offender. If they don’t nothing happens. I have a cousin that got pregnant by a 28 year old when she was 16 back in the early 2000s. It was so weird to me because they were practically related (in addition to their ages). The guy she got pregnant by was one of her cousin’s cousins... if that makes sense. But they weren’t blood related. No one ever pressed charges. So nothing ever happened to him but it was super weird because at 16 she looked and acted very much like a child but was also very “fast”.
@@gameprey1777 not everyone has protective parents... some of the girls of the industry were living on the streets when they got discovered & then there's celebrity privilege
ugh it's so annoying when people say this. People dont say being skinny is unattractive now. Even curvy bodies still have to be slim thick with no stomach. Trends go in and out all the time. just because skinny isnt getting as much attention as it used to doesnt mean people are shaming you for being skinny. it's not going to stop people who appreciate skinny bodies from doing so. Im saying the insecurity and envy is what's unattractive. No ones saying being black and skinny is unattractive or wrong.
I love that majority of these women had backup plans like getting their education . I don't mind women using their bodies or sexuality to get ahead as long as they have a plan
Yes . I vividly remember seeing all these women in videos during my high school years thinking they were bomb . I would read the video vixen eye candy articles in XXL and was amazed at finding out they had degrees and were business owners. Smart and beautiful proving you can be both.
Ya sound desperate.. whatever it takes?..lol.. this is why majority of them amounted to stay at home moms. And even if they got there degree..they still didnt get a job with those degrees.
That’s Mimi Faust dancing next to Lanisha Cole and Lauren London in the Frontin video by Pharrell. Just thought I’d point that out in case any of y’all didn’t already know
As a dark skin little girl who binged watch music videos in the 2000's and only saw racially ambiguous women, Pharrell really made me feel so "included" by casting Lanisha Cole. She's gorgeous, dark skin, and confident. Love to see it!
Lies. There were lots of dark skinned vixens in the 90’s and early to mid 2000’s. The racially ambiguous craze didn’t start till the late 2000’s. I grew up during that time as well so I remember brown and dark skinned being the norm in most rap and r&b videos.
@@doumeyihn5906 what YOU saw is futile. What actually happened is the truth. Most of the video models in the 90’s and early 00’s were unambiguously black. That is the reality. Not whether you saw them or not.
@@doumeyihn5906 Lol futile means pointless, ineffectual, worthless etc. Which is exactly what I meant. Her subjective view on what happened is worthless because the objective reality of what happened is the total opposite. Read the dictionary first and learn the meanings of words instead of presenting yourself as some kind of faux intellectual embarrassment in the RU-vid comment section lmao.
@@doumeyihn5906 Expressing an opinion is considered an “action”. As well as making an “effort” to prove a point. I’m correct in how I used the word. Again, go read a dictionary.
It wasn't alot of darker-skinned women feature in hip hop videos back then, most of them were racially ambiguous mixed or non-black so it's refreshing to see models like Lanisha Cole come to the table. (before many of y'all come at me in the comments you know the narrator also mentioned the same thing at the 1:39 mark 😏)
I never understood why y’all say “every woman now looks like A Kardashian”.. When the Kardashians are the ones that got work done to look like a black woman’s body. They look like our women
There's nothing wrong with being "thick" but it's way too fake and exaggerated now. But in general, all bodies should be celebrated tbh and shouldn't be reduced to "trends"
Sooooo Aaron Hall knowingly was messing with a child. Regardless of what she was doing. Whew lawd so why aren’t we talking about alll these artist who are grown men messing with kids but only speaking on R Kelly.
according to aaron hall in an infamous djvlad interview, he had no idea she was "a puppy" because luke had her around first. so idk, still fucked up though.
Bc RKelly kept paying people off and kept breaking the law for decades. Not just statutory rape and child pornography, he had a bad temper and beat them regularly as well. It was his time to face the consequences of his actions legendary music or not. Watch Surviving RKelly both documentaries.
I'm glad that you said what you said about Gloria Velez, because everybody always talks about Karrine Steffans AKA "Super Head"-- but Gloria was scandalous too.... she just didn't put it in a book and capitalize on it.🤷🏾♀️
@@therealkenj98 Yep! I once watched this clip where she and some other video vixen (it might have been Melyssa Ford if I'm not mistaken) were going in on Superhead for what she did and I'm sitting there thinking, Ok....but Gloria is no better!
I had to rewind and pause. 😆 This women deserve awards sticking around after all the toxicity introduced to them when they were barely women. It's life .
@@waterlove689 Firstly, Logic. Having kids doesn't equal not married and secondly, I literally practice Family Law- my unofficial professional advice is: NEVER GET MARRIED, unless u doing it for tax and other such benefits.
It's so insane how these women are imprinted into my brain from childhood...its amazing to think so many were super educated but all we knew about them was their face and bodies
It’s crazy how we looked forward to seeing the same video vixens in those music videos. They were part of the package and made the videos worth watching.
This was a good idea, but inaccurate. In the 90s and early 00s, the prettiest video vixens were BROWN skinned. Back then, the camera time went to the brown skin, not the red bone. The red bone started to trend in videos in the mid to late 00s.
Lanisha Cole has forever been my favorite woman from any video. As beautiful as Lauren London is, I couldn’t see anything beyond Lanisha’s beautiful brown skin and just how laid back she was and the overall vibe of the video.
Simone Baptiste is still hella gorgeous with an equally beautiful daughter & loving their accomplishments. Nicole is mainly known for the “Reggae Gold” covers @ least for me🔥🔥🤷🏽♀️ Gloria Velez was never all that tho🤷🏽♀️..why did she have so much hype/buzz🙄. Omg Jessica stunning af🍫🍯 & Jeanette Chavez in Jay’s/Pharrell’s classic song/video is forever a moment in the culture🤸🏾♀️
Freebie Babe cuz back in the day it was ok. If girls were fast the ending result would be them getting knocked up. Nothing u.can do to stop a sexually advanced child.
Koka Kola It’s so disgusting how black people will blame the advances of old men on “black girls being fast”, especially since so many people will call young girls fast for merely breathing. Anything to not hold a man accountable I guess. 🙄🙄🙄🙄
Syeda Umar she is just as guilty as he is. She is not innocent. She had sex because she wanted to have sex. 16 is not as young as you think and at 16 we all know what we should or shouldn’t do. She was not raped or forced to have sec with him. She did it because she wanted to. Should he had slept with her, not at all but she also holds part of the responsibility. You all want to jump on him but she couldn’t have gotten pregnant if neither of them had done it.
I just knew when I was a kid I’d have a video vixen body.. it’s happened and I’m still waiting for my opportunity minus the being tossed around the industry 🥴😂
Those video girls were actually memorable to me and hold a special place in my childhood. To see them still beautiful and doing better is inspirational
Omg I was waiting for Esther Baxter, Buffie the Body, Karraine Steffans, Leila Arceri and Vida Guerrero? They were way more popular than some of these vixens.
Jasmine B Exactly!!! True story, I really used to get R Kelly and Aaron Hall mixed up as a kid... Thought that they looked totally a like 😂!!! Crazy how both are nasty filthy pathetic ass child predators 🤦🏾♀️ ... Both of’ em ain’t shit!
What a time to be alive. I'm so glad that I was old enough to bear witness to this era and have it influence me. These new kids could NEVER! This era was truly iconic.
It's one of the easiest industries to get *into* , one of the most difficult industries to remain consistent in. So if they're still doing real estate that's because they had to put that pretty look at me aside and get down to business which is good. Cause looks don't last forever but hustle can feed generations if you do it right. 👍🏿
