Ive got a 2001 1500 HD with a 6ltr . Ive got 305,000 miles on her. The last 7 years ive spent about $5,000 on engine and brake repairs . Still cheaper than making payments on a new $70,000 Chevy

You have an excellent truck and you should keep it for the next 30 years. Even if you get something new. Those things never die as long as they're maintained properly. Then you'll always have a backup vehicle, just in case. A good quality backup vehicle.

Picked up the cousin, a 2001 Sierra 1500 that’s a z71 and it reminds me of my brother’s first car a 2001 suburban. Everything is clean and original and it was passed down from father to son and was taken care of. I’m never getting rid of it!!

2001 Chevy Silverados are great trucks! I have one myself. Got mine with 232,000 miles, and have put over 120,000 miles on it. Still going strong. Same engine, but rebuilt trans and transfer case a fèw years ago. These trucks hold up well, and can move fast. Not too bad on gas, and gets better mileage on the highway. Its 5.3L engine is a very good engine, but mine burns oil over a few days time but not too bad. Just got to check my oil dipstick from time to time, so my oil level doesn't get too low.

I had a dodge that had chrome wrinkle like that, it’s when your chrome is cold and then you run it through a hot car wash. It causes the metal paint to expand and crinkle. Nothing you can do unfortunately. Just call it character!

Bro, gotta 2001 Silverado. 5.3..Full K&N, Long Tube Headers, Flowmaster Super 40's , Airad throttlebody spacer, Accel wires, Fast Intake, Cranes 1.5 rockers, Comp cam..272 K miles and it will shred the tires when I jump in the throttle..I've replaced the interior, suspension, rear just because I've owned truck since it was brand new..One thing I will recommend to replace is the upper /lower steering shafts..After I replace the suspension, I got a cluncking sound and didn't figure it out until I checked both steering shaft...Welcome to the truck family...Yeah, electrical is problem, The mirror/compass need to have the sodier points redone..You may encounter same with instrument cluster because I had both go out and resodiered both.
