They can't even say the bad guys in World War II. Gee, if you can't say their names, it seems like it's going to provide an avenue for conspiracy theorists and give credence to the alt-right sources online to "tell the real story". Seems like RU-vid is complicit in radicalizing and promoting conspiracy theories like holocaust denial by censoring all legitimate discussion on their mainstream platforms.
Censorship in any event no matter how recent they may be is no excuse. I applaud your dedication to reporting this event despite how controversial it was.
History is history. The best way to understand it is to tell it as unbiased as possible. Then if there were mistakes made, we can stop them from happening again.

Makes sense from their point to erase this history. Otherwise, how can we condemn our geopolitical rivals if our voters realise that their own leaders were not punished in the same way we are calling our enemies to be for the same things we have done
I'm a little confused, why is the attack on the world trade centre on September 11th being censored from the start of the video? It's dangerous to suppress the truth, and it strikes me as a huge dishonor to everyone that was murdered that day. Armchair Historian I love your work ❤️
From what I've read it comes down to the 9/11 conspiracy nutcases. RU-vid went overboard and deemed 9/11 a hot topic. I've also heard some group of Karen moms were against 9/11 vids I'm not sure which is true or if both are.
@@natelandherr5202 who is he? Who are you talking about?! But yeah if you watch other news sources in other countries particularly India you get a really different picture of USA. India is pissed about how we handled the Afghanistan prisoner in prisons
The ArmChair Historian does not deserve to be treated like this. The quality of animation, story telling, editing is Immaculate. RU-vid should be ashamed of punishing awesome creators like this one. You make great videos ❤❤❤❤
I have an Internet friend from Canada who was in Afghanistan, told me "The war was a lie" and that he usually "Got himself drunk" on purpose while he was there. Seen some atrocities from local tribals that he was not allowed to intervene while he was patrolling, think he mentioned forced child marriage. The war made him disillusioned with Politicians and any talks about "war"
Not exactly sure what you are talking about since it's virtually impossible to change the mindset of a people in 20 years never mind in a country with only a quarter of the population literate. At least Al-Qaeda is no longer a major threat and thousands of Afghans have found better homes elsewhere.
Ya, it's fairly messed up. I recall a story from American soldiers where they were at an Afghan army base as advisors, and the commander would have young boys brought to his quarters at night for reasons you can probably guess. Americans were specifically told not to get involved, let alone bring it up. War involves making lots of concessions in order to work together. It's just unfortunate that the Afghanistan the West tried to build was disgusting AND incompetent.
This was a spectacular episode. I'm so excited to see all the new content relating to this topic. It's origins are so very unknown these days. Thank you so much.
He got the most important subject wrong though, it’s a fact that it was controlled demolition that made World Trade Center collapse like that. Steel can’t collapse like that because of a couple airplanes, no fckn way. It’s 23 years later and still so many people believes the official BS story. United States and the establishment are experts on these false flag attacks and making people believe everything to their advantage

@@killingspeerx Yeah, tbh there's bad apples in every tree. War is messy and ugly. There's a a few US soldiers that were executed for warcrimes during ww2 i know that much. War brings out the worst in men
I was in Operation Anaconda and I still remembered those dam mountains and our team constantly maneuvering from position to position and readjusting to all the ever changing events on the ground. Good video and thank you.
I know two men from my home town who served in Afghanistan. They were brothers, the elder served in logistics while the younger was a paratrooper who did his fair share of combat missions. They don't talk much about the war but watching this video gives me some what of an idea of what the war was possibly like for them. Thanks for helping me fill in the gaps, Griffin.
Looking forward for the second part, especially knowing retrospectively how eventually things in Afghanistan almost went back to square one for most of locals. And the censorship here on RU-vid of an educational video on such important historical event that defined the geopolitical situation of the last two decades (even if it may not be YT censoring it directly, demonetization based on advertisers' requierements practically achieve the same goal) says a lot about the current state of things.
Hi Griffin and Team! Thank you for making well researched and quality content. It is horrible that RU-vid is censoring your videos. Having to blip 9/11 is very sad. It isn't a "swear" word and your not inciting violence so it doesn't make sense. It is disrespectful to all those who suffered due to 9/11. RU-vid stop with the bullshit censorship. Griffin has some of the best content on here.
I know I've gotten old when I've had high schoolers talk to me about 9/xx since they were learning it in their history class. Glad to see people try and make lasting commentary on what really happened since while it was happening so much was obscured.
Given how they got demonetization for using 9/you know what, it might be better not to use it in the comments. RU-vid has previously censored channels over their comment section.
@@ernestogastelum9123 I was a freshman in high school when it happened so it was the impact of talking to someone who was my age at that time that was impactful. He was smart enough to realize that the 2020 events would be his generation's version of the same cultural scarring.
It is really sad how people are not aware of the crime commited in Afganistan by the US. There is a 40 min long video which is so dusturbing called "20 years in Afghanistan: The untold story" which exposed lots of the crimes and human right violation that was committed there.
Agree. Sadly, it took the dust to settle, over 10 years of this invasion(which, I applaud The Armchair Historian in correctly labeling this action/conflict), for the mass of Americans, to realize, this action, was wrong. I protested the invasion from the get go, and got a lot of hate. Like I said, took around 10 years, and a lot of people didn't want to argue after that.
I get chilling vibes with how similar the news commentary of Ukraine is to how they reported on Afghanistan and Iraq. War has been commercialised into entertainment
@@user-op8fg3ny3jwhen has war not been treated like entertainment, hell, it used to be worse, families turning up to have a picnic and watch Napoleonic armies slaughter each other. When droves of young men volunteered to fight in world war 1, they weren’t doing it because the media gave them a good idea of the horrors of war.
@@user-op8fg3ny3j no, absolutely not, its awful that we treat conflict and death the way we do, I was agreeing with ya, sorry if it came out more confrontational :)
Love your content, history is the greatest teacher. I can't believe that you're not allowed to say the name of an extremely important historical American event. Keep it up. I would love to continue to see stuff from all different time periods like you have done.
Happy to get to finish this one, even if it is a "cleaned up" version however we mustn't accept the censorship of our history. Keep making great content!
Amazing video, bravo. Please consider doing more videos about Afghanistan. The three anglo-afghan wars, the different steps of the soviet-afghan war and the different periods of the US-Afghan war. All these are absolutely fascinating and the world needs to know and understand.

I’ve seen some creators do some study on the back end too and have better luck avoiding any crawl censors using things like “UBL” instead of Bin Laden as well as 11th of September. Gets the point across without sacrificing the message or censoring too much. Just food for thought for future . Hope this keeps it steam!
Thank you for explaining this. I was too young to understand what was happening at the time, and you would be surprised how difficult it is to find someone who will explain it since it seems like the country wants to collectively forget about the invasion.
Well said. I got out of the US Army in 1998 (Served 8 years), and even when I tried to pay attention to this conflict, Information just seemed scarce, or wasn't reported. I think, as with much of the public, for this conflict, we just forgot about it.

@@drewstar412 that's the sad part, a lot of the troops didn't want to be there but they felt the brunt of war due to the destructive actions of our governments.
@content_enjoyer4458 They enlisted thinking they will be called to defend their country; not invade another sovereign nation. So did Ukraine bring the invasion upon itself too, hmm?
Love your videos on history. What I really find it irritating though, is knowing to the fact that RU-vid really doesn't care about history, and what makes it worse they like to take out videos for no reason.
If the people responsible for censorship did their job and actually watched the videos we'd have: a) educated censorship employees at RU-vid. b) adequate reaction to such videos. c) more censorship on the real problematic content. Cheers to Armchair Historian ✌️
Conspiracy theory: This video got taken down twice by RU-vid because someone who works in RU-vid HQ wanted this video to get a remake with a new animation.

🤫 NATO acted to prevent Gaddafi founding an African central bank with its own gold-backed currency. That institution would have challenged the power of the dollar and finally allowed Africa to escape its colonial shackles.
Gold backed currencies are the easiest to topple. World wide trade was 55% in USD back then, and not a single nation would listen to Gaddafi. That never would have happened other than in a reddit post you saw a year ago
Exactly bro. Libya was the danger of a good example. "If the Libyans start doing it then who knows what that could lead to, so we gotta make an example out of Libya. If you dare try to switch to a different reserve currency, even if we're presently sanctioning your whole country, then this is whats gomna happen to you. The marines are coming down & you're gonna get the 152nd airborne on your neck, either that or we'll flatten your whole country". Its sad to imagine, but honestly after Iraq and Libya, I'm convinced that this dollar currency is completely useless and has no value whatsoever. Nothing of value is backing this green piece of paper anymore. The only thing backing the US dollar is the US Military. Basically the threat of invasion or destruction or both. That's probably why BRICS are a bit hesitant about forming that bank they kept talking about, who knows what that will lead to, the dominance of the Chinese currency, or worse, a BRICS currency that offers small, bisieged countries access to the global financial system and fair trade. But obviously having a currency like that is ridiculous becuz its not like the US can invade the whole planet, even with auxiliary forces, there's just no way this Empire can resist the current of history. All Empires have tried and you can take a guess as to what eventually happened to them, they either imploded or got taken over and plundered by newer empires rising in their wake, but I digress.
