Just sent mine in for repair. After watching several "how-to videos," one thing not mentioned in the videos is get yourself a set of deep-well metric sockets. there isn't much room to work under the dash and this will make it somewhat easier.
Hi Bob, I have diagnosed that likely my FEM is needing rebuilt due to the speedometer not illuminating with the dim switch, and the wheel buttons & gear shifter not illuminating either. 99.9% of the time, this means the FEM is not working properly needs to be rebuilt. My question for you, is after they are rebuilt, does the FEM tend to fail again in the future or does having them rebuilt typically solve the issue permanently? Thanks!
I'm probably going to have to do this and send it to you for a rebuild/repair. On our recent 5,000 road trip to Florida and back a few things on our '02 started acting up. Wipers turning on by themselves, headlights intermittently not working, drivers door window wouldn't operate, then it would, oil pressure light on with, sometimes, the annoying dinging, etc... I unplugged the wiper link under the hood so that they weren't driving me crazy and the car did just fine for a day. Then the other stuff started acting up. FEM? How much to repair it if I send it to you? Should I just buy a new one. Are they available. Thanks.
