Great video! Do you have a video on changing out the oil pan? We are still debating on whether or not our 02 has a rear main leak or an oil pan leak.
@FixingWithPassion
@FixingWithPassion 4 года назад
All bets are the oil pan real seal...may as well do the rear main seal also. No video on that but who know...maybe someday. But by the time you drop the transmission, you can do both. Front dff drop is no picnic either!

Interesting how it's so much work for a seal that cost around $30 lol if you got this done at a shop 95% of the cost would be labor for sure.

I've been trying to find the selenoid harness pigtail location in the engine bay. From what I've found it is that blue plug on top of the air intake manifold. You grab and show the o2 pigtails in the video if I'm right. Can you confirm? My selenoid wires burned above the transmission and I'm looking to cut and splice them but first I want to know I'm yanking the right wires out lol. Ty
@FixingWithPassion
@FixingWithPassion Год назад
You see the end of wires?
@bikerboysrus1
@bikerboysrus1 Год назад
Unfortunately no. It comes down above the cat for about 6 inches and disappears again. Looks like it was burned resting on the cat so I was able to push it up and away from the cat. A tab but further down the transmission I can see wires again but not sure if it's part of the same harness to be honest. After pushing the burned part away from exhaust I'm no longer having issues/code so it's got to be part of the selenoid harness. Only wire visible was solid yellow but every diagram I read said it should be L/Y blue yellow....I did find a diagram for 2000 that shows the pigtails you grabbed as being correct though. I guess my next task would be to try and remove the exhaust (need a sawzall lol) and ohm/ OL the wire to the pigtails above. One diagram shows the pigtail should be like a 20pin connector and it would be 14 for B and 15 for A. Sry if this is a jumbled mess I'm just waking up for work. I appreciate your response. In the a.m. I will take a picture and give a link here

After I removed the automatic transmission from my 2001 Frontier 3.3 King cab AT and re-installed it all is good except 4wd. When I put the 4wd shifter to it's neutral the ATP light comes on and if I try to get it into 4wd Low it grinds gears loudly. I can't get it into 2wd again because it grinds too. I then can't put the transmission back into park without grinding. I have to turn off the engine, put it into park and put the 4wd shifter back into 2wd and all is fine until I try to put it back into 4wd again. Also, this might be normal but when I have it in 2wd and I put it into neutral while in the air, the rear wheels spin while it's on blocks off of the ground....any ideas?

Another great video. I have been debating on whether I have a rear main seal oil leak or the rear of the oil pan seal. I had read on forums that it is most common to be the oil pan. I was planning on doing the oil pan this winter to see if that fixed it. Based on the geometry of the area...you can replace the oil pan RTV without removing the transmission, right? Removing the transmission removal is only to get to the rear main seal?

Hi Nathan. I have reviewed this video about 10 times now as I am going through the process of removing the transmission from an 01 Xterra. Just about to take the torque converter bolts out tomorrow. Then I will be going through the process again as I remove the transmission from an 03 Xterra that will be the donor vehicle for a ton of parts the 01 needs. The 01 seems to have a good running engine.The 03 was rolled so no longer driveable. The engine seems pretty decent in the 03 but is showing a cyl.#5 misfire. I will try to sort that out before I take it apart. Thanking you for making this video. Bob in Idaho
