Thanks for you post... I did mine. it was a pain... You were a big help. I was well prepared w/ o-rings and extra bolts. like you I used some hylomar. You are right there no need for them to use the shallow allen bolts. You know the Pateon 4.2 engine. They use regular triple square bolts. Regular allen bolts ok but hex bolts not ok. Hex bolts are too big.
hay whats up man. Do you think that installing an after market trans cooler (Hayden or Tru-Cool) instead of the original OEM one? I got an Audi A8 2005 .. I believe that its not providing adequate cooling to the trans .. is it possible (placement and fitting) to install an aftermarket trans cooler?
Absolutely. I changed 1 at the minimum. I see no reason why a low profile head would be needed ever. For sure they all don't need to be low profile in the case I'm wrong.
@@oboriginal1387 Thanks for replying. What I am concerned about it the allen bolt underneath the stud and behind the coolant pipe. I am surprised you are able to remove the housing without removing the exhaust stud. How are you able to the job without removing the stud bolt? I have seen a lot of pics of owner welding allen wrenches to these bolts as well. I so scared and dread doing this job that I plan to doing it in 2 parts. 1 weekend to replace the stud bolt as well as buy a welder just in case......I have bought all the necessary parts including the oring you borrowed from the bufkin pipe as well as the orings for the alternator (including spares of all the bolts I am removing)
