2002 Honda CB250 Twin - 1999 Honda cb250 - cheap as chips! 1999 Honda cb250 (review) gopro hero 9
Out on another small capacity CC bike as usual here at Retro Bikes Dublin and this one is unusually a twin cylinder bike, not like a lot of these so called beginner bikes all being single cylinder cheap run about! For me these twins are a lot smoother and nicer to ride but what do you guys think?

Bought a “used” 2008 CB250 Nighthawk from a local Honda dealer around 2013. It only had 200 miles on the clock and was mint! Super good price, too ….. “cheap as chips!” Fun bike to ride around town, in the country and valleys, and on longer distance jaunts. The bike is sized like bigger bikes so, fatigue isn’t really an issue. Although low powered, it runs smooth, takes the hills and keeps up with traffic on all but major freeways. Real easy and economical to maintain!

G'day from Straya, I've been watching your videos for a while now, maybe a couple of years, just enjoy the short reviews of various models. What actually fascinates me, is the cul de sac where you turn to go back - the van that almost always parks there, now there's another car there in this video as well - I've never seen cars park in a cul de sac that way - across - blocking half of the turning area. Is that normal? I see cars park along the turning area, but not cutting the turning area off and parking in the middle of it. Long comment, but I am not kidding, that parking "fascinates" me.

It's where they life so nobody would really be going down their unless they live there so nobody really cares about how they park !

@@RetroBikesDublin hey, as long as all the neighbours, potential visitors, delivery drivers, emergency services, waste management services etc are happy with having the turning facility blocked and cut in half, than I am happy too! Hey, it's not it belongs to you or your family and I am criticizing you, right? Just asking. It's kind of a given, that "only people who live by the cul de sac, go there" - it's generally the case with every cul de sac, everywhere around the world. Unless you're lost, or delivering something, or collecting something or someone..or want to turn. 👍

Nice little bike. Watching from Canada 🍁 maybe when global sanity returns I’d like to vacation out that way. Do you get many customers that are just there on holiday for a month or two? Cheers bud keep the old ones running

What is the cruising speed over a longer distance so as not to overwhelm it with high revs?
@STho205
@STho205 5 месяцев назад
60mph 100kph is the best cruising distance speed for the frame, handling and suspension. The motor with good compression will take the bike to 75mph with a tiny bit of throttle left in 5th, 70mph WOT in 4th....however the bike is light with a 40 year old frame design....so that is best for a slow pass downhill only. 18hp bike with 10hp brakes.
@retros1299
@retros1299 5 месяцев назад
@@STho205 I have a Honda CM with such an engine, but they were in the 17 and 22 HP version. Mine has 17KM and the maximum speed is 105 km/h, the pre-recruit one is 80. I changed the front sprocket from 14 to 15 teeth and I will also change the rear sprocket from 32 to 30. The maximum speed will not increase, but the revolutions will be lower.

@@retros1299 then you should have known to expect the same out of the 234cc twin. A medium sized windscreen should help with speed stability and gas mileage. At this point these bikes are not worth modding as a 39hp MT03 or Triumph 400 or Kawasaki Eliminator 400 is more bike, better blakes, better suspension at only 5k to 6k dollars or euros. I have a 2008 I put 61000 miles on touring (better seat and bags)...and it is still best fit as a school bike or a village town and country bike for 1 or 2hr rides.

I've blown two oil seals at 50k miles and 55k. The clutch is close to spent in 4th and 5th due to living on steep mountains. I'll replace it next year with a 300 to 500cc bike, hopefully one year used with 1000mi/1600km to avoid dealer fees and freight fees.

@@STho205 Well, yes, but now that I have it, changing the gears doesn't cost much and will help. I'm improving it a bit, I'm doing a small renovation, as best I can. It was very neglected when I bought it, it's even nice to dig around with it yourself. The cylinder casting in my Honda is 233cm. I don't have a motorcycle driving license, so I can only ride a 125 cm motorcycle, and this one is registered for 125, and someone once changed the engine to 250, actually to 233.
