I recently got a brand new camera, and I desperately wanted to shoot something with it. So my friend Kostya Marowitz, who is an incredible driver/car guru, went out with me to his home canyons of Malibu to film a featurette about his car. I filmed and edited everything, all post was done in Final Cut. This was my first attempt at the "Top Gear" look.
Big thanks to JP Holland, who helped with shooting.
The song is "Timestretch" by Bassnectar.

Made 302 awhp and 308ft/lb of torque on a dynapack. tuned at church automotive testing, and yes I have the dyno, need to scan it. And it had an STi bottom end and cleaned/rebuilt wrx heads, which is why it didn't make more in the top end. Made 300+ ft/lb from around 3500rpm and up, great midrange torque.

Had Tanabe GR210 springs on sti struts at the time, upgraded to Swift Sport springs and love em.

I like it I also have the 60D, right now I'm using a18-135 lens. also have a 2002 WRX EJ25 swapped, all the goodies...basically its an STI. 2006 interior, motor and drivetrain with the exception of STI half shafts and suspension parts...I want to make a short film on it soon its a blast to drive; I'm looking at an E85 setup soon and run stage 2.

twins, my 02 with sti swap put down 301hp and 306tq i watched this video like 25-30 times while mine was in the shop getting swapped. i had one question tho does yours have the trans swap too or is it still the 5sp.

If I'm correct... the STi engine puts down 300hp stock. So naming all those additions you should be getting a lot more than 302hp out of it. Either you didn't swap the engine and just put on the STi intake and the emblem on the back... or you are just throwing out a number and haven't actually had it on a dyno.

@ajbleyer that's awesome dude. i recently got my permit and took a wrx for a test drive. i absolutely love the car, but the insurance for a new driver is just way too high. is this your first sti? (or wrx with an sti engine swap haha)

@SuperMotormann Yup, it was all shot with that 17-50. And yes, all focus was pulled manually. Canon cameras don't support live AF when shooting video.

I dnt get it... If you did a STi swap, than ofcourse you have the STi intake mani. So I guess my question is : did you do an engine swap or just STi bolt on swap? Big diff between the ej20 & 25

Yea i have a build 2.5 motor from costworth with a blouch 18g walboro 255 750cc top feeds and I'm pushing 380hp with my stock 5 speed the only thing I'm lacking is a front mount then i can turn up the boost and be around 450 to 500 even

04 and 05 WRXs already have a beast engine, you should be able to tune it to 4 second 0-60 no problem

My bad, he said that he had 250 to the wheels when he got it, so there are some mods there he didn't list. With the STi engine and those mods. Should still be getting more than 302 to the wheels.

@element509 find an sti engine on ebay or craigslist, rebuild it if you want and do the swap yourself, it should be really easy unless you want to swap a turbo engine into a 2.5RS because then im pretty sure you need a transmission as well because the wrx has a pull clutch and the RS has a push clutch... unless theres a way to convert

Props for a great video and great car! Just remember to be very careful around those roads with crossing the double yellow. There are just too many blind corners and I'd hate to see such a nice car wrecked.

he's talking about wheel horsepower. they come stock with 300 to the crank... 302 sounds about right for a sti motor with a turboback with a tune

The car had an STI longblock and rebuilt WRX heads... EJ25 hybrid if you want to be technical. Not a wanna be sti... faster than one thanks to the weight difference and 302whp.

no real reason, to swap to an STi engine UNLESS its a EJ207 or you just absolutly need that extra low end or of course the 6-speed sti transmission is an awesome choice for an upgrade, which i dont think was mentioned in this vid. A standard wrx engine can be tuned easily for power of an STi with a tune and bigger turbo with other bolt ons.

+Jerry Maguire The stock motor spun a bearing, got a deal on a STI block and went with a hybrid wrx heads/sti engine build.
