Man I was 12-13 watching this game. This is one of my favorite games ever! I remember staying up sitting at the edge of bed inches in front on the tv n had to yell into pillow when MARE hit the FG! Had such a good squad too shame we didn’t have a better QB.
Wow, I thought I'd never see this one again. This was the third NFL season I had watched from when my love for the game began, and how things were different with both of these franchises at the time. The Broncos were shades out of their super bowl duet some years before, and the dolphins, though hadn't won a super bowl since '73, were at the end of their run as one of the more consistently winning franchises since the post-merger. It still meant something to be either a bronco or a dolphin in this one
A regular season game I'll never forget; on a Sunday Night. Coulda swore I remember Mike Patrick saying on the final drive, "...and a crowd of over 76,000 are ON THEIR FEET!"; also, "John Mobley had the in his hands and he 'knew it.' " (Anyone else remember that?) - Dolphin fan
This was one of the most painful games of the era for Broncos fans. This 2002 season was one heartbreaking defeat after another. IdK why Kevin Kasper never found a place in the league. He was electric. John Mobley has an interception go through his hands that would have ended the game. It was like we got every break from 97-98, and then we couldn't get any breaks until 2005.
You may be too young but in 1966 Tom Erlandson had a pick 6 for Miami's only score in Denver that year. And sadly having watched every game of Marino in his career, with the NFL scheduling back then, when Marino faced Elway in Denver back in '85, they wouldn't play against each other until 1998.
This dolphins team I had high hopes for and they really wasted a great season by Ricky Williams by having injuries at quarterback and spotty play by the defense in many important games.
