Thank you, literally changed the resistor, motor, and and hvac and heat cluster and it still wouldn't work, watched this went out looked behind the glove box and bingo there that plug was burnt in 4 of the holes and on the prongs that go inside it, Thank you again.
For this model truck, avoid using the blower on 3. It will just melt again. It will always work on 4 as it doesn't use any resistor on that speed. So if you replace, use 1,2, or 4. 3 pulls too much for the mickey mouse harness.
My 2012 Colorado had blower issues at 42000 miles, and in addition to the damage at the resistor, the ground behind the front right headlight was corroded. I ended up soldering the harness connector at the ground point to fix. I believe that the bad ground caused a voltage drop, which increased the amp pull of the fan which cause the connector/blower motor to burn up. Truck has 80k now with no issues.
I got a new blower motor just in case, but I'm sure the problem is the harness as I could see burn marks when I unplugged the resistor. My car is 12 years old. Would you advise replacing the motor for age alone. Or should I just stick to the harness replacement if that fixes the problem?
I replaced the resistor and harness! Thanks for the vid! I still got a problem though. It's intermittent. Works on all 4 speeds but just shuts off for no reason. Any ideas? All the connections are good and it works, just shuts off for no reason sometimes still! Thanks man !
I'm going through the same thing.. I replaced the harness and the resistor enough sometimes it wants to blow sometimes it don't I'm thinking from what I study my blower might be going out.. it was suggested the tap on the bottom of the blower underneath the dash with a hammer which might make it cut on and if that's the case they say it's probably the motor going out. But I'm understanding that's a resistor and the harness is a serious issue with these trucks.
@@Glowstixinchatt theres a wire connector with like 5 or six wires going into it that I found behind the door trim just below the glove box. I found a short in there and it fixed it. I basically just cut the wires away from the connector and butt connected them
I appreciate the heads-up. I'll be sure to double check my wiring. That's the first thing I've heard to troubleshoot a blower so I will do my due diligence. I hope I don't jinx myself. When I switch the resistor switch and harness my blower only acted up for a couple of weeks. I tapped on it a couple of times with the hammer when it didn't cut on. First time I tapped on it didn't help. Blower cut on few mins later. next time the blower didn't cut on with flurries and I tapped on it while I was out and it didn't help then. it did eventually cut on just as I was pulling in the driveway. It was a few days after they was when I posted what i had heard.. knock on wood...it's not gave me any problems since. I'm hearing a little something where it's probably got some debris caught up in it. But I did clean out the compartment with the blower the day I replace the harness and relay switch had few leaves and stuff up in it then. I'm like a lot of people I don't want to worry about my ride with this and that and now something else with a lot of headaches and aggravations and money. I got a good deal on a 05 Canyon and I was headed home I was done looking for the day and I was making the circle back home letter lock the last couple of car lots before I got home and spotted this Canyon. pulled on the lot got out and walked STR8 up to the Canyon ol boy cane out i asked a couple questions about it he hee haw round about it like they was something wrong with it or I just didn't know nothing about it my first impression dumbass . trying to show me something else on the lot. it was going in one ear and out the other I wasn't interested in anything he had. I told him I wanted to take it for a ride when I pulled out on the road before I hit 35 miles an hour I knew I was going to buy this truck. I asked him bottom dollar said the boss asking 6.. he mentioned something that he might take 5 something. I literally made 5 right turns barely 1 mile back to the lot. I said I could probably do a 4 and 1/2 cash. Tags taxes and title.. kinda acted like that wasn't going to be good enough. After like 10 minutes boy come back out I'm outside walking the truck over. he said cash? I said yep. he said if you got cash he'd let it go. I said let's do this my pockets ain't empty cuz. I sharp eye'd it. Nuts and bolts lines on the body its not been wrecked look like new on the inside outside undercarriage 175k on the truck with a rebuilt 5 cylinder. just a few little things nothing major. Next day I took it to my mechanic they went over it. fix back window brake light. Driver power window. I put tires on it and alignment I couldn't be any happier I love this truck and I don't mind telling the world. I looked up online seen the recalls and the complaints and the most common problems . Yeah my trucks got em like the vibrating at cruising speed the electrical issue about the break light and the relay switch and harness. I wish I had this truck years ago but I'm happy to have it now. I ordered I Dash replacement decals for the stereo controls and heating and air controls I'm going to take several components out and replaced all the dash lights bulbs in the stereo and air controls and lighting control. I know it one time it had keyless entry I'm going to see what I can do about putting that back together. They say it's recommended for the dealership to do it . I poked around to see if I can find something out about the security and keyless entry and I'm not ran across really any real information but that don't mean that is not out there. The stereo has a theft deterrent let's program to the truck. set before I pull that stereo out and replace the lights in the faceplate I like to know a little bit more about it. I don't foresee myself partying with this truck at all. You fix it you do it right that's a new part lifetime warranty. it still would be cheaper to replace everything on it then it would be to buy another one 567 year loan. but it there is an advantage to have enough tools and the place and the knowledge to be able to fix your own stuff. Sorry I love my truck and I can talk about it all day long.
Greg Hale My 07 Canyon blower doesn't work at any speed and has had the blower motor connector replaced. When I disconnected it there isn't any discoloration at all and looks new. I have also checked the fuse, cleaned the 10mm ground by the air filter several times and that worked for awhile but quit once again. Then I read that the connector for the ground wires being grounded near the air box could have corrosion but after checking the terminals inside the connector there wasn't any noticeable corrosion but I cleaned anyway and coated with some dielectric grease but still I get nothing at any speed. Ideas?
PLEASE LISTEN. The reason they are burnt is that they are not properly grounded..Behind the air box, is a bolt that has 5 grouonds on one bolt..,, there is paint behind that bolt, and all five conection are corroded, and will short out the speeds on the blower resister.. So, check this before you replace the blower resister. I did two of them before I fouond oout the GROUND is bad.....Please,,,,, Same is true, there is a ground deal same kind, behind the battery box that keeps you passcode and startng function working. try it.. at the 5 minute mark, the new Harness main connection is going to be plugged into the harness on the right, anyone know if we can buy just that harness on the right at the 5 minute mark? I had a hell time getting the two unplugged, and when I finally did, I noticed a burned out wire in there, so thinking I can just buy that harness and cut the wires and rejoin them. Thx.
Once you removed the whole pigtail you showed the main connection also had to be replaced since it was a little burn also. What’s the part number for that other wire harness. I have the pigtail but where the pigtail connects to the other larger connect I need that connected or harness.
I have a 2004 Colorado hot and cold air works great as does the blower motor but the air comes out no particular place as if it just seeps in like there is a closed door that doesn't allow the air flow through. Any ideas?
My colorado is an '07 with the same issue but smelled like wires burning. I have 190,000 miles on no it and just curious if the parts showing burns is what I was smelling and what's all the part numbers I need to replace?
Hi I have a 05 gmc crayon and the blower works but there’s very little air coming out of the vents??? Anyone know what is wrong with this truck? Thanks
where can i get that harness , i just changed my resistor and harness that leads the that longer harness that you took out an still have the issue maybe i have to change everything like you
I read on a Colorado forum that even after replacing everything included in this vid the issue still happens. Very frustrating. I just bought an 04 Colorado. When I test drove it the blower motor only worked on hi. It was fixed and I had it a week and it happened again. That's when I Googled it. In addition to replacing the parts shown in the vid, this extra step was recommended This might help... Go back to the ground on the fender passenger side fender. Remove the little black box. Open the little black box and you will probably find the a connection inside of it is burned. Remove the burned wire and crimp a ring terminal on that wire. Reassemble the box without the removed wire. Remount the box and the ring terminal wire under the same bolt and your problem will be fixed. Here is a link to the forum. coloradofans.com/forums/67-technical-questions-tips-how/149505-blower-motor-not-working.html Gotta love RU-vid ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-aaop6kZsR5I.html
I know you may have already fixed the problem or sold the truck by now but I will share my experience with this for others. behind the kick panel on the passenger side below the blower there is a very wide white locking connector with a blue locking arm. The brown wire passing through this connection melted inside, open it up and check for burnt connections. After I found the bad connection I just bypassed the plug with a butt connector and it functions great. The butt connector is much more solid than the factory connection anyway.
thanks man this was driving me crazy, the blue locking arm unlocked,.....locked it and it starting blowing again. thanks so much the wife has had my new car for a week !
I have intermittent blower fan too but none of these harnesses show burned marks. I also removed the ground behind the air filter box and sanded it and there is still the issue. Any thoughts?
Chevys are some of the best cars on the road, and nearly all parts of all vehicles are manufactured in the same facilities. There is next to no difference in most modern vehicles. The 1960s called and wants it’s brand bashing back
The actual contacts in the switch in the dash may be worn or corroded, causing a bad connection in some switch positions. Chances are if its a colorado, it’s high mileage and/or older
I have replaced all these parts several times the whole thing and it just keeps happening over and over and over, I am sick of this I want a permanent fix!!!!!
