Thanks for another great upload! As an old-school I-formation running game fan, I'm very happy to see that both USC and Auburn run the I-formation back in 2003. Today's spread offenses just don't have the same appeal to me.
Agreed, I hate 50 plus passes and stud RB's just being wasted running laterally outta the shotgun. No post up game in the NBA all shooting has done the same thing to me there too.
Hershel Dennis was a legit upcoming RB, I first seen him play at Long Beach Poly and was amazed. Red shirted his freshman year, so I couldn’t wait for him to get a shot. Messed up and had an incident at school. Lost the starting job to none other than Mr.Reggie Bush. Crazy story.
I remembered this game. Auburn was ranked as high as #2 in the coach's poll. And USC had a solid season the year prior only losing 2 games. Pete Carroll was able to truly implement an NFL-like system into the USC Trojans football program when he took over and this 1st game in the 2003 season demonstrated their dominance over a very good Auburn Football program. The nation at that time was surprised how USC not only won this game but how they shut down the Auburn offense. I don't even think Auburn entered the red zone once against a stout USC defense. All this domination in Auburn's house.
Alabama dodged SC...SC wanted to play all the best teams and tried to make it happen, but all didn't bite...SCs confidence and success may have ruffled a few feathers and led to being targeted ultimately leading to their downfall of and great run...Jealously, Jealously, Jealously!!!
3 turnovers deep in your own territory led to 17 USC points is hardly a beatdown. More like USC capitalized on Auburns mistakes, which is whats supposed to happen. If Auburn had no turnovers, then its probably a 6-0 game.
Really enjoying these classic games. I'm a few years passed since posting, but still great nonetheless. With being said this is when the SEC killers came about.
Looks like the only other USC games I have from then are 05 Arizona State (from ESPN Classic condensed version) and 05 Fresno State, which I downloaded from I believe CFin30. I can probably repost it though and credit him for the edit if you hadn't seen it.
@@JWill-xc1cr They're already finished edits so they're going up now. Actually I see the 05 USC-Oregon game is also on yt so i'll work on that one as well when I get back to editing.
Would love to see the 2002 game between these two as well. Never seen a replay of this home and home. Not sure if i watched all of this one. Dont remember it being on CBS
I don't have the 02 game, although I see kind of a lower quality 240p version is on yt. I downloaded it and opened it in 480 and I think it looks okay so i'll likely go ahead and do it when I resume editing. I'm just always a bit nervous about editing a lower quality version of a game and with my luck, shortly after a crystal clear version shows up and i've already done the game.
This was actually a 5:00 start, as CBS, with a rare opportunity to showcase USC, sandwiched this game into the middle of US Open coverage. Usually they don't show games the first 2 weeks of the season.
Lincoln Riley and his staff could use this tape to teach defense, tackling, and angles...were there mistakes, yes, but there were so many more good things imo
I still think USC would have won that playoff. 03 was the season they really needed it. The whole LSU/USC thing never got resolved. LSU, Oklahoma, USC and Michigan would have been a great playoff and it actually ended up working out that way. LSU beat OU in the Sugar Bowl and USC beat Michigan in the Rose Bowl. Just needed LSU and USC to battle it out.
Auburn is no match for the Mighty Trojans. EVER! The SEC teams can only beat USC in down years. OTHERWISE, IT’S ALWAYS A BLOOOOOOOOOOOWOOOOOOUUUUUUUTTTTTTTT! USC COLLECTS ANOTHER WIN! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
