I owned this car for over 10 years. This is the very best car. Great engine, comfort and superb drive. People tell a lot of bad things about north star engine.. on my car.. for over 10 years, no leak or issue of any time.. I still have it and it is great. I prefer it over my X5.
It's a great car but the head bolts were too small so it would blow up a lot. They put better head bolts on the 04-05 so that's the one to get for reliability
I remember when the new Deville came out in late 99 for the 2000 model year and I always loved it much more than any previous Deville. My parents had just bought a 1994 Seville SLS from Coastal Cadillac in New Port Richey, Florida. I was only a little guy at the time and I remember playing in these Cadillac's when they were new in the showroom. I now have a 2005 Deville of my own with every option available in light cashmere/gold and I love it!!! This one being the last year for the Deville has the custom Livery package with special options on it. I waited almost 15 years for one and wound up finding one from an older lady who had it for sale close to where I live. It was too nice and at a steal of a price to pass up. All that waiting paid off!! I keep mine maintained the way it should and run it the way it needs to. These Northstar engines are really amazing. Even our 1994 Seville SLS was one of the best cars we ever had. Even that car, never a single problem to this day and it still looks like new when we bought it. Take care of your Cadillac's and your Cadillac will take care of you.
hitek9wittafulclip I hate when people say this stupid stuff because they no nothing about cadillacs. 2005 was the last year of the deville.2006 was the first year of the DTS. Not much of a difference. The difference is a redesign and and a name change.
@@willnewman7485 Well in all fairness, DTS did stand for Deville Touring Sedan. Also, the 06 DTS was more of a heavy refresh of the Deville than a all-out redesign.
@@hakeemsd70m Correct it is a base model Deville. The Deville DHS would be more heavily optioned throughout. The Deville DTS would have the floor mounter shifter and performance appearance. Any model Deville is a great car. I have a few friends that have these Deville's and are all happy owners including myself with my 05 Deville.
I was blessed with 2004 deville same color new engine grey leather clean exterior n interior 65,000 miles, she rides sooo smooth and just looks so beautiful driving away on cloudy days 😍
Love the Deville!! I have been driving an 01' since 04' and I still love. When I feel like I'm getting tired of it somebody tells me how good it looks for it's age! I started with 12,000 mi and now I have 113,000 mi. I have not had any repairs that HAD to be done on it since 2012. It is still running strong. I might have it another 10 years!
+Christian Wilkins I just bought another Deville today. its an 2001 crimson red pearl with only 50k garaged and one elderly owner. I also have a 2005 Deville special edition with only 120k on it garaged as my daily driver. I love them both so much!!! These are great well built cars with remarkable engines!! No matter what anyone thinks. My parents still drive their 1995 Seville SLS since 1999 and still running great. We have other older Classic Cadillacs as we are Cadillac people and these Deville's and Seville's are our favorite for the newer generation of Cadillac's.
I highly recommend these Deville's to anyone that appreciate a modern day Cadillac with any old school ride, feel and performance. Not to mention all of today's build quality, options, safety, and comfort. The 2000-11 Deville and DTS cars are and excellent choice. I drive one myself daily and could not be happier. Hope it works out for you.
+Hickland Productions WOW i guess you do love it!!! I have two Deville's myself. I first bought a 2005 Deville special edition with only 120k as my daily driver. Today I just bought a 2001 Deville crimson red pearl with only 50k!!! Both cars have been garaged, well maintained and elderly owned. Both cars were to hard to walk away from!!! The owners of the 2001 i bought today really wanted me to have the car since I love Cadillac's and that it was going to a good home. I have ZERO complaints. I plan on keeping these two Deville's a long time. I would love to get a Seville STS eventually to add to my Cadillac collection. I Hope you enjoy yours for as long as you own it!!!
+AMCNorthstar 93 I don't mean to bother but considering the fact that you own 2005 Deville (and i am in the market for one) I was wondering if $3000 was a good price for a next to perfect condition one?
Edson Bugatti $3000 for a nice example is nothing! That's a great price for a car like the Deville. I bought my 05 Deville with just over 115k for about $3000. I fixed a small problem it had and have no more than $100 worth of parts. So far, its been an excellent car and a great performer and couldn't be any happier.
+AMCNorthstar 93 Since you've had to fix the car, are the parts as expensive as I keep bieng told some people say they're new ford prices some say old porche. The one I'm looking at will need the front bumper replaced.
Edson Bugatti The only parts that I bought for my car was 8 new AC Delco spark plugs Iranium tip that cost almost $70 for me. Also bought and installed a new TPS sensor in the transmission and basic maintenance. Some things may be more expensive for other people since they need to rely on shops or dealers to do the work. I did all the repairs myself being around these cars all my life so I'm very familiar with them. The front bumper is nothing. You can easily find a good bumper off any 2000-05 Deville at a salvage yard. Its really the labor that costs the most for any car. Hope this helps.......
+N1GHT5 I agree. Cadillac should never have stopped making big luxury cars since that is what they are known for. Same with Buick and Lincoln. No wonder sales are down right now for those three. Very sad to me since they were some of the most popular cars on the road for many many years.
UnitedRecording Cadillac did have a V12 and V16 Northstar engines in the future plans but those plans were shelved back when the economy tanked. That was also during their not so great years and were having to consolidate brands and models. But Cadillac should revive those engines being all there own once again.
I love Cadillac's DeVille series. I have a 1990 sedan I'm driving as a daily right now and have been for about a year . Hasn't had any issues yet. It's in great condition for a 25 year old car actually and I'm proud to drive it lol!
I have a 2002 deville dts with 170000 miles on it. I bought it in 2004 with 30000 miles and I have had NO problems! The Northstar engine v8 and a world class transmission makes this car a great buy!!
my grandfather has a 2001 deville that looks pretty much exactly like this. i grew up loving that car and he still drives it daily today. it has over 190K miles on it and it runs like its brand new. he also has a 2004 RAM 1500 that I also grew up with. That car has almost 240K miles. But the Deville is just so special. I took my drivers test on that car.
21lprice I have a 2005 Deville. This is my everyday driver and what a pleasure it is to drive it. I absolutely love mine and I have no complaints whatso ever! My parents love this car as well always asking me if they can drive it.
I seen this was from 12 years ago so I decided to click on your channel and holy moly congratulations!!!! You’re the perfect role model thank you so much! Keep on posting and reviewing all these beautiful vehicles
This is going to sound weird but actually my dad owned a Luxury Car Service and about 10-13 years years ago this is what he drove. I still love this car. Unfortunately my dad got rid of it due to terrible oil leak, seems to be problem with all old Devilles anywho. This is my dream car and I wish I had the EXACT same car shown on the video. As that is literally the exact copy of my dads car. Great car runs smooth and has power. I wish I could get the same car today
I owned this year/model having purchased it used with 60ish K miles. The thing drove so nicely, floated down the road, and was most comfortable in terms of seating. Unfortunately, after less than a few weeks, I noticed it was burning oil in excess. I took it back to the dealer and was informed that this is a characteristic of this engine. Additionally, for some reason the dash was separating on these models - I had seen some others when I did my research. Needless to say, I returned the car as much as I hated to. I'm now looking for a Lincoln Town Car instead. For those owners of this model, congratulations and I hope that you do not experience the issues I did.
I really love to watch your videos,my dad and i watch your vids everyday...we especially love to watch the cadillac deville videos so if you could make more for the devilles from 1994 -2011 we would really be greatful thank you.
+Rick Ernst (caddyman) I agree. I love watching the Caddy videos. Today I just bought a 2001 Deville crimson red pearl with only 50k! Garaged, well maintained and elderly owned. I have a 2005 Deville special edition with 120k as my daily driver. I love these cars very much and I will plan to keep it for probably the rest of my life. Thats how much i love them. Sad that Cadillac doesn't make comfortable cars anymore.
You should do more reviews of these generation Devilles, they're my favorite generation and you only have one video of it but like 5 for the 90s ones. I also feel this wasn't as good of a review as your other ones, would have liked to see a driving video.
My dad has a 2004 Deville DHS and I got to drive it a couple times. loved how effortlessly it got up to speed, sometimes caught me off guard accelerating from traffic lights XD The only issues I have with the car is the vague steering and lack of headroom due to the thick insulation on the roof.
So I have the chance to own a 03 deville dhs but I’ve been hesitant to buy it because of some people saying it has problems. But so far I’ve seen more positive than negative things about these cars. It only has 65k miles I think I’ve made up my mind to get it
My dad got a 04' deville base and it has 142,000 miles! Only 2 real known problems, on the 4.6L North Star is that inside the manifold there is a oil seal that is dry rotten and a small drip is beginning to occur, Cadillac will charge 3,500$ to repair the seal, unfortunately they will have to pull the engine to do so, also the SACE or satellite auditory communication exchange antenna is got a rubber seal that raps around the point section, it is cracked, it still works but it is recommended to be replaced, but that takes removing a large wire assembly from between the roof and the roof cover in the inside the car and then replacing the mirror reprogramming the onstar system, afterwards replacing the headliner. Other than that it's great,
I've had a 2000 and several other, earlier years. Its been my favorite car i otherwise wouldn't have liked or tried if i hadn't gotten it as a company car. Its comfortable and smooth and i loved taking it on the roadtrip, but i'd choose something older over getting another one. 2000 is the best out of 00-05 because its got the correct wreath and crest emblems (not the smoothed ones like the car in the video has), so you've got something to care about enough to do the head gasket work when it inevitably comes up. I couldn't save my company car, but if i had actually owned it i would have, its worth it. I just prefer boxier bodies, bigger engines, and rear wheel drive ;3
Ive been in the similar caddy which was a 02 DTS and that had no fuel in it either it died when it came into the yard. It was like a magic carpet on the road so smooth and fast. :)
I got one of those babies 2001 cadillac deville bought it i am the 2nd owner with 24,495 i love it now it has 54,000 miles 2 years still runs goos no problem i also had a 1999 deville traded in had 97,000 i have a 1997 lincoln towncar signature series and my 1994 sts i had a lot of cars i am 35yrs old living live and love cadillacs cause of there luxury digital read out great video
Thanks for this video. I enjoyed the video Kyle. The DTS we have now is leaving and this car and the STS are being replaced by XTS. One my cars I own has all the same features and it is an Oldsmobile 98. I just do not have the V8 engine. It is a shame no more cars like this exist.
great first car. kinda big but oh well it has rear parking sensors which will help you. it does have heated seats you'll have to ask if they work on the car you're buying cuz it looks complicated to fix, I've looked it up cuz mine don't work except for one rear seat.
You don't know Cadillac's....I can't think of any Cadillac with plastic seating. All Cadillacs have leather. The newer one's after 2000 have Corinthian leather. The most beautiful car. I own one and I still look at every Cadillac I see on the road. Uniqueness of the Caddy. Just beautiful!!
Going back to Cadillac's roots, they've always made good FWD cars. It's actually a great FWD setup - driving it is pleasant, even the performance one is nice and minimal torque steer
Yes. I own one - it is a solid car. 320k miles on mine. It drives very well and lots of torque to spin the wheels if you want (with traction control off). It hasn't even rusted, and I live up north... I think that they dipped it in an electro bath that prevents rust.
I hv a 05 and it won't start all the lights come on radio and all but it won't start I can't figure out how to jump it I don't know if it's the battery cause it clicks like it want to start but won't any advice on what I should do where are the +and - terminals thanks
Are those wheels original to this car, or are they from a '06 and up Deville? I'm not that familiar with this generation, but I don't remember seeing those wheels on a 2000-2005 before.
@Xziau1 They've had it since they bought it new in 2002. They don't have a huge amount of miles on it, because while they drove to Florida and back in it until a few years ago, they don't drive much otherwise. I think they had some problem with it, but I can't remember if it was in the cooling system or the engine itself. I know that these models have some problems with the pistons in the engines misfiring and such, but I don't believe they've had any problem that serious (at least so far).
If I'm not mistaken the '96 DeVille had a recall on the engine or something like that. I avoided all 1996 Cadillac DeVille. ☺ Hope you found something that you like.
i have a 2003 all the people say aaaah cmon that's take huge lot of gas. SO i have a good car good fiability, really comfortable, good motor (power) and for me cadillac is a sign of prestige and he can just keep your civic
My first car that i bought outright was a 1998 devillle. Same northstar engine. Everyone around me said i did good getting one. What no one told me about was the northstar engine. They were supposedly a failure. Everyone in this comments section though seems to love there cadillac deville northstar, and claims they are heavily reliable and amazing cars. I guess no one has faced headgasket issues on here from the dexcool antifreeze eatting away and corroding head gasket seals?
2000 to 2005 cadillac deville was a nice looking car but 99% OVER HEAT AND THE STARTER MOTOR COST A FORTUNE TO REPLACE BECAUSE THE STARTER MOTOR IS BUILT INSIDE THE ENGINE-TO REPLACE IT YOU HAVE TO PULL THE TOP OF THE ENGINE APART..
harrison hollywood I've had mine since 2004 and I have never had overheating or head gasket issues. My temp gauge runs on half when fully warm since day 1
+harrison hollywood They are a great looking car and they do NOT have problems if they were properly maintained. The starter being under the intake is nothing new as some other engines are the exact same way. And its VERY EASY to do if you know what your doing. And they do NOT overheat unless the cooling fans are not coming on or coolant has leaked out. It is all a coolant and maintenance issue period!!!
That tach really kinda sucks. Nobody is going to read a small super fast changing number on the dash. They should at least make it an analogue looking digital tach, with an actual needle. I always wonder how these things get past the design stage an into actual production.
I need a center wheel cover for mine. If you have any idea where to order please message back. My Aunt gave me her car. Has 50,000 miles. Love, Love, Love this car. Gets 26+ mpg on open road and 24+ in city. I've parked my 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee.
And On The 2003 Cadillac Deville Don't Forget To Check inspect OR Replace The Front Oil Seal Because Over Time it Can Wear Out And Cause A Big Oil Leak Under The Bottom Up in The Front
You bought a 2001 Cadillac for $2000.00...well...let me say...I hope the overheating is only the sensor. The year 2001 Cadillac had a defect with the heating sensor. Could be a costly repair or could lead to engine damage. Cadillac's are the best cars..they are so beautiful...keep an eye on the overheating. Could be why they sold it at such a low price.
