best mate, what a superb and athletic jumper he was. he wasnt even out of third gear in that years gold cup. i would have loved to seen baracouda, inglis drever and big bucks all that their peak race each other in a stayers hurdle. that would have been a race to savour.
The last 3 day festival in '03 was as good as it gets re top-class National Hunt. the best of the best turned up, and a staggering 9 favorites beat their rivals out the gate, and roasted the bookies. Baracuda (the best hurdling technique I've ever seen in a horse before or since) and Best Mate clearing the last fence before his rivals had got to the 2nd last will stay with me for ever.

cant believe how easy rooster booster won his champion you will probably never see a horse win the champion like that ever again. the commentator sounded like even he could'nt believe how well rooster booster travelled
