These bikes are bullet proof. Lije you mentioned might do rings and valve seals once in a while but last for over 40years. I have an 1982 model which is basically same core engine. Bought it used and thing takes 1-2kicks to start. Original clutch. Feels faster than it is. Top speed around 70kph...with an adult. I'm 5ft 8 and about 170lbs. It takes my weight but you'd need heavier front springs in forks to accommodate adult weight on jumps. Alot of xr100 suspension parts are interchangeable to give a modest lift. Really nothing bad to say about bike. A nice affordable and reliable lil beast.
I think it would be hard to get this bike to comfortably go over 60 for any period of time. If you want that kind of speed at your size, you probably want a 2 stroke 80cc
Hi man! I found one on Facebook for $1000 in pretty good condition. It would be my first bike but it looks pretty sweet. Do you think that’s a good deal?
I believe my best friend had this same bike dose it have a clutch? I know his had clutch I had xr50r 1983 his was 2000 something I know it wasn't 2 stroke it was 4 stroke 70 or 80 with a clutch. I would like to find one like he had that thing cruised if I remember correctly lol.
My neighbor is selling me one for 900, it just needs a spoke replacement on the rear wheel, would this be good for someone who is 5'8? Also I'm new to dirt bikes, so this would be my first.
Just a Keihin carb from eBay. It costs around $30, so its pretty cheap. I don't know if this is the exact one I got or not: www.ebay.com/itm/PZ20-KEIHIN-Carburetor-Honda-XR80-XR80R-Dirt-Bike-Tuned-Complete-Carb-1979-2003-/113289789219
I Just got my 03 XR80R this month for the same price. Great bike so far but the previous owner neglected some things like a mouse nest in the air box. Any warnings I or any other owner could know about?
biolj Not really, they are bulletproof bikes. Just keep up with the maintenance and make sure it doesn't burn oil. Also see if the cam chain has slack and rattles around when you drive.
Just a basic one like this: www.ebay.com/itm/172650007140?chn=ps&norover=1&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-117182-37290-0&mkcid=2&itemid=172650007140&targetid=935083617547&device=c&mktype=pla&googleloc=9028236&poi=&campaignid=10454522063&mkgroupid=104612011340&rlsatarget=aud-412677883135:pla-935083617547&abcId=2146002&merchantid=101699744&gclid=CjwKCAiA-_L9BRBQEiwA-bm5fjU7OKRhhLS7Ig5V7K_Q3f4RiPMeoQf_GARR2kDf3de_QtURnPGquRoCxOIQAvD_BwE
Yeah it took me a bit to even get out of first gear when I first got it, but you'll get used to it and get comfortable riding it with practice. Have fun!
Seems a little bit pricey, but it all depends on how good of shape it's in and how well it's been maintained. If it looks showroom quality then it's pry a good deal. I sold this one for $900 i think and it was in good shape. I haven't looked at the market for these for a couple years though so i don't know if they're going up in price or anything like that.
@@berky3760 Yeah I'm sure $1200 is a fair price for an 09. See if you can negotiate the price down on either bike. Either way you'll be getting a great bike.
Yo u wont believe this. I just bought this same bike same year. I am also 15 and 6 foot 1. What carb did you use if you dont mind replying because mine is leaking fuel out of the overflow. (i think the float is stuck). Anyway PEACE
I trail rode one of these brand new at 13 or 14 yrs old, it was fine power wise but the trails i ride had too deep of ruts for the small tire size and i found myself having to avoid deep ruts or get wedged hard on my pegs, shifter and brake lever.
I was 5'10" at 15... Only problem was I stopped growing by my 16th birthday at 5'11" lol. Most of my friends were full grown by 16 as well. I'm still the same height today at 41, obviously... Just above average, so I can't complain lol
@@kombatboiiii5747 I'm not sure I never really tried to measure it, probably will do 50 if you wanted to but it was more comfortable around the 20-30ish range I'd say
