Thats a well loved car which is good to see.The Crossfire is popular in the UK. Im on my second now.I bought a convertible years ago and ive just bought a coupe. There just one of those cars that you love changing things on.Enjoy it Brad.
Thank you. I have owned 5 Crossfires total and currently still own two, the V8 6-speed in this video and I have an SRT-6 Roadster. Love them both, but nothing like driving the V8.
I sold this one a while back so no chance to get a ticket. But I replaced it with a 2005 Crossfire roadster 6-speed that has an SRT-6 engine in it. It's quicker than the V8.
I am not sure where Josh's friend lives who originally did the V8 conversion 8 years ago but the car wound up in FL at some point. I live in AZ but flew to FL to get the car and drove it home.
I bought the car with the V8 swap done but I know who you need to contact to have the swap done and he's the best. His name is Josh Chase and his shop is called the Mercedes Swap Shop. V8 swaps, tunes, keys and fobs and immobilizer repairs are what he does and is a wizard. You can find The Mercedes Swap Shop on Facebook and he has a website as well and here is a link: themercedesswapshop.com/
Hey Anthony - I recognize you from the Crossfire FB page. From what I have read from Josh Chase and others who have done the swap, the V8 commented on this a while back and I think when all is said and done the V8 is about 40 pounds (can't remember if it is more or less) than the SRT-6 engine so there's no problem with the suspension. My car was lowered with coilers when I got it and it handles great.
Not sure. The seller I got it from is not the original builder and I think it has gone through 2 or 3 owners since the build and I didn't get much documentation with it.
It's likely the stock manual. It's common for Mercedes AMG owners to do a manual tranny swap using a Crossfire transmission, it bolts right up to the bell housing and can handle the power. In this case, they went the other way and installed a AMG engine in a crossfire.
Holy shit!!! Can you give me a few details? Are you part of the Facebook group? I’ve got a Startech and would love some help, especially on the wheels and spacers. Thanks.
Unfortunately I sold the car a few weeks ago. I do not believe the wheels on this car had any spacers. I had the left front wheel off to replace a caliper bolt and there was no spacer. Tires were factory staggered sizes - 19s on the back and 18s on the front.
