Thats the only issue honestly, they should try to bring it back, give some pride to the drying Chrysler brand. Throw in a Hellcat engine and you got a supercar killer with the looks to match

It was a kinda stolen design, engine from benz, european supercar structure and all with a batch that isnt really interesting in that market. So... I dont see how this is chrysler being ahead of anything. M8, wake up and smell the coffee. Chrysler had been badly made for a long time. As had many us cars. Rust, all sorts of problem with electronics and even the engines

I totally agree. Only thing is they would have to make it a bit cheaper, like new Vette territory pricing. This one at $250k is way too much for most people to ever spend on Chrysler

@@MarspeedCars ...except the multi million dollar wing cars, as in Superbird, Charger Daytona & E bodies, that is. there's been a fairly long running group of smart and well heeled ppl spending srs bucks on Mopar muscle..why not a new car..if crazy/cool enough like the ME. Especially given a 'No Viper production' climate. plus look at how fast the new Hellephant mills sold out..2 days! The Demon? sold 'em as fast as the car is! they're on eBay now for markedly over original sticker $. ok..all that said..give us an ME-12 mkII for $100,000. ..but not with a rubbish AMG engine, pls. Not a V-12 anything, Mopar learned they're a bad idea when designing the Viper..too much crank whip. The number of $250,000+ Mopes that change hands regularly is out of sight..and..largely out of sight. I don't think FCA is ok with Chrysler doing performance cars they would like Maserati and Alfa Romeo to do that.

THIS ISSSSSSSS a Chrysler ME-412,, And it I was the most powerful American car of the 2000s that was never made, You probably don’t even know what the heck even is this car, well today I’m gonna introduce you to it. I borrowed this concept car from a museum here in Detroit and this car ( or concept car for that because it was never made into production and there’s only two in existence which the one I have here is the only drivable one) has AMAZING SPECS, that absolutely blows my mind but first a little overview, This insane concept car was created by Chrysler in 2004 at the time that it was in a partnership with Daimler and was developed in less than a year and was originally going to be produced to compete with other supercars like the Ford Gt. It has amazing specs including a 7 cylinder and 14 turbos engine which produces 800 horsepower and It will do 0-60 in 2.9 SECONDS and 0-100 miles in 6.2 seconds WHICH ARE INSANE numbers even for today. So today I’m gonna drive this car, I’m gonna check out it’s quirks and features, then I am gonna drive It and then I’m gonna give it a Doug Score and for more of my thoughts on the Chrysler ME412 check out my column at Auto-trader.com/oversteer where I also put a list of insane supercars for sale, now onto the review.

Lori Mercedes bought Chrysler with the intention of gutting everything except vans & Jeeps & they figured out in short order how much of a shit company Chrysler was, is & always will be & sold them off. If it weren't for constant government bailouts for the last 70-plus years, Chrysler would've ceased to exist a LONG time ago.

Chrysler needs to hire new respectable people and designers for them and make great cars again

It would be as relevant today as the LFA, some cars just age far too well and this is definitely one of them. Even if it didn't last in production these would surely go high in resale value over time, 2.9 back is the 2000s was insane, I'm actually surprised Pagani was involved in this project.

Its the idea of going into a market owned by european brands by taking a merc engine, merc know how, stealing european supercar design(but yeah, lets pretend the r8 was taken from this instead this from lamborghini, audi avus and therelike) and putting a chrysler badge on it. There is no appeal in that. Chryslers only sell in the us, noone wants to pay that money for a chrysler when they are in the lambo, ferrari and porsche market

@@MarspeedCars would've loved to see the two head to head. SLR would be embarrassed badly. i own an SRT6 and if I'm not mistaken the SLR has the same transmission just more beefed up. That transmission then was damn near 15 years old. Mercedes screwed a lot of Chryslers ideas to hell. The Crossfire concept was brilliant. When it came to out the design was quite close. BUT they throw this under powered 3.2L 215hp engine in it. At least they rectified it with the SRT6. What's even more screwy though is they downgraded the SRT6 specs as to not piss off the SLK32 AMG owners because you could have the same car in the SRT6 but a cheaper price tag. It actually has more because the SRT6 has better cooling. So the SLK32 has 349hp where as they quoted the SRT6 as 330 but has same motor but with better cooling? Another case of Mercedes screwing Chrysler. The SRT6 is actually around 362 because of the cooling. Also why would they not put the Crossfire on the R171 platform which is gen 2 SLK, since they came out the same year? another Mercedes screw job to Chrysler. Also the Firepower was also a brilliant Concept that would've sold like crazy in my opinion. Another Mercedes screw job. Hopefully Mercedes used lube because Chrysler was getting the shaft all the time during that merger. The only thing they left Chrysler with was the LX platform which we all know is used on the Challenger and Charger. It has aged well but is definitely in need of a refresh. Maybe some AWD sports cars in the shoot. Hopefully they take a look back at the ME412, Firepower and even the Crossfire and see what the future might've been but could still be done. well enough of my rant lol.

@Mike but Benz couldn't even make the SLR better than this car...with a Benz engine. It's more to it than just the engine. This car had some strong engineering throughout.

Thank Mercedes-Benz for not only the ME412's demise but also Chrysler's failure.

As you state, this was right at the same time the SLR McLaren was being rolled out, and of course this Chrysler would have stolen its thunder, with the SLR looking like an elongated CL. It is crazy that this 2004 mid-engined car is putting out CURRENT performance from some serious cars.

Viper engine, bc much more 'boom in the back' as Rihanna would say. a twin turbski 8.0L viper mill woulda eaten the AMG motors' lunch, 4 turbs or no..rubbish lil 6L. :D torque outta the turns wins races.

Actually there have been many great mid engine concepts even since the conception of the Corvette. They just never hit production. Know your Corvette history.
