2004 Dodge Ram 4x4 ABS and Brake Warning Lights On With Code 65 Resetting

2004 Dodge Ram had the ABS and red Brake warning lights on. consistently setting code 65 in the SBS controller for Main Relay fault. Tested powers and grounds to the controller and then replaced with a used part. Had to set tire size in used controller.

I'm having some abs problems. Did the part numbers match exactly? I couldn’t tell in the video. I see P521214008AB for the original part and maybe P521214006AB donor part. Would you please clarify? Thanks

Same thing is happening to my truck ! Is it safe to drive like this or is it something that needs to be addressed ?

It's not safe if the red brake warning lightnis on but if only the ABS light is on the base brakes are still functioning well. I would not recommend to drive it like that

I had the ABS and brake light that would come on one day or drive somewhere and then it wasn't on the next day or next travel then back on the next, etc. I had a shop read the codes for my 2004 Dodge 2500 diesel. The computer read code 65 on all the cylinders in the pump. In the mechanics estimation, since it was returning the 65 code for all or most of them it was the ABS control module. In short the module wasn't available anywhere and the mechanic was booked out for months. I found the part in a wrecking yard. One of the torque screws would not come out and stripped. I reconnected the ABS harness the battery etc. and drove to buy the part to remove it. I also cleared the codes. I never had a problem stopping and did some hard stops without issue. After clearing the codes and reconnecting the harness, battery etc. the ABS and brake light has never came back on. Is it possible I just had an electronic problem that just required a reset?

I have seat b3lt abs and brake. I replaced trans speed sensor as it calls foe sensor placement 01 and the pumpkin speed sensor as well. Lights stay on. Turbos is whining and laggin.. hard shifts. Code is p0500... I'm stumped

It is internal in the ABS module

Would this make a truck rpms fluctuate while overdrive is on? And not shift into overdrive?

My customer never mentioned any transmission issues and I never drove the vehicle until after it was repaired so honestly I'm not sure. Tha ABS module does process the front and rear speed signals and sends them to the PCM that controls the transmission shift points. Try unplugging the main connector on the ABS module and see if the transmission still shifts. Some systems have an output shaft speed sensor that controls the transmission shifting. Monitor the transmission data, desired gear, actual gear, vehicle speed and TCC lockup while it driving both with the ABS connected and disconnected. Hope this helps you.

Is yours a gas or diesel engine. The diesels had a problem with TCC lock and unlock repeatedly at cruise speed due to electrical interference on the TPS signal wire to the computer controlling the transmission. Let me know if yours is a diesel.

What are you using in place of the DRB to reset the axle/tire code ? I am getting ready to replace my module and I'll have to get the rear axle and tire size reset . thanks

Most full function scanner tools will offer the capability of setting the pinion factor. I'm using a Snap-on Verus Edge but an Autel Maxisys or Thinkdiag tool will do it.

@@PhillipBailey do you happen to know which thinkdiag would work? I have been trying to find a pc software that would work and i can't find anything that will connect to a ram older than 2006. So frustrating. Im worried if i get a all in one unit ill end up with the same problem. Having no speedo, odo, trip on my 04 with no abs codes and a AC c-code. But no way to access the modules :s

@nicholaslafrance6007 there are quite a few full function scan tools thar are not too much money. The thinkdia tool should work. I'll post a link shortly

did you have to buy the Chrysler software / program it? other than tire size and pinion ratio?

This particular used module is not vin specific so it worked with the programming in it. A new one from Chrysler would need programming to work and a Dealer level tool. Only had to program the tire size and any decent scan tool should be capable of that. I was using a Snap-on scanner here. Hope this helps you.
